  1. I dropped to 60hz 6 months ago. Took me a few days to adjust to the flicker, but with the right use of the XR toolkit you can eliminate it almost entirely. Providing you can make a minimum of 60 FPS in most scenarios it is definitely worth an extended period of testing. I'm now very reluctant to purchase a different headset that can't run at 60 as the headroom it gives you is better than a generational GPU upgrade and I sure don't want to go back to reprojection.
  2. Cheers for the reply and photo's. I was aware of this option. What I was looking for is a replication of the HUD bug that indicates the current selected heading i.e. - WP/Tacan. Reason being when performing a Tac Turn with a wingman at low level you have to look back at the HUD or HSI to know when to level out. I'm quite certain it was there in the JHMCS at one point in development.
  3. I'm reasonably sure at one point the DCS F18 had the heading bug displayed in the JHMCS heading tape. Has this feature been removed or forgotten or am I missing a setting for it somewhere?
  4. You have clouds ultra and water high. This will kill FPS. I’m running a 4090 with clouds low and water medium. 30fps with re projection on a MP server is not so bad anyway. You could me making low 40’s and showing 30fps. Also cockpit global illumination should be off.
  5. Turns out I can launch in VR if if I launch with admin rights but only if I open the Mixed Reality Portal after I have launched and the first small splash screen appears. If Mixed Reality Portal is open first I get nothing at all. Any ideas? Solved. It seems there is a bug in my latest motion platform software. Uninstalling it solved the problem immediately.
  6. I have always installed in C/program files with no issues until this one.
  7. RTX4090/13700K/WINDOWS 11/OPEN BETA/ /REVERB G2/Open XR tools preview runtime checked/VR checked in DCS I was in the MP lobby in VR yesterday and realised I needed to update. After update DCS would now not launch in VR at all. No splash screen, nothing in MT or ST. it would launch in flat screen so I performed a full DCS re-install. Still no joy in VR. I tried with a new saved games folder with the same result. Performed a full Windows 11 re-install last night, downloaded DCS and it worked first time. but just the once. Since then same result. I've attached the logs in the new Saved Games folder. Would really appreciate some help, pulling my hair out with it. dcs.log dcs.log.old
  8. G2/4090/13700k here. I used to use 45/30fps with MR and thought I was quite happy until committing to a good run with 60hz which I have adapted to and stuck with. Little things like appreciating an F3 flyby or a smooth merge in a dogfight make a huge difference to me when running at full refresh. Also clarity is overall much better and deeper somehow. I now have a pre-order on the Pimax Crystal which will likely push me back into reprojection. Might be a deal breaker that. Guess we'll see when the first DCS reviews with it come out.
  9. I've been running DCS at 60Hz/100% with no reprojection for a few months now. After 6 years of using VR I finally have good clarity and headroom enough to not be constantly tinkering with settings. As for the flickering, initially I though no chance, now it is barely noticeable at start-up and completely forgotten once flying . It was a jump in performance and visuals I've not experienced with any new card or processor.
  10. G2 here. I cannot get past the menu with Toolkit enabled regardless of reprojection setting in Open XR tools. If I disable the Toolkit missions will load, however performance is terrible and the sound is bugged (silence for the most part, but some switches can be heard) When I first started DCS after the update the Toolkit intro popped up and all my settings were at default. I then turned on reprojection, HAM mask etc before loading a mission. I'm guessing that's why I can't get past the menu, because I have reprojection enabled in the Toolkit but I'm unable to open it to change it due to DCS crashing. Is there a file I can delete to return Toolkit DCS settings to default? EDIT - I found "Safe Mode" in Toolkit settings.
  11. Apologies, I'm so tired of all this tinkering I misread your post. I'm using XR for a while now. No idea if it will default to that now if you're not using it already.
  12. Not in my case. Tried all of the above. Can now get DCS to run with toolkit off auto repro, but it runs terribly. 3090/I7 13700K. Losing faith gradually.
  13. Still crashes for me with toolkit disabled.
  14. Same here. Have done repair, disabled Open XR Toolkit, all mods. Still crashes at the main menu.
  15. Has there been an update? I'm not seeing it in the UI
  16. I'm also getting random spikes above and beyond the default volume setting. There are no bumps, ground roll or engine/piston beat effects either.
  17. As a Squadron, we like to do our own marshall calls etc when interacting with the boat. Unfortunately our calls are repeated by our own aircraft when contacting ATC. This really destroys immersion. Would be nice to be able to disable outgoing calls.
  18. I'm on Windows 11 and the words are "torch on and torch off"
  19. How would that help him? VRK is not mentioned in the first post.
  20. Is this a workaround to get VRK working? If not, is there a way to get VRK running without Steam VR. Asking for a mate.
  21. Looks like they've tried to improve the functionality by allowing a re-centre of the mouse with a button click in "use mouse" mode as described above. Problem created is that it doesn't disappear. In VR head locked mode before you could make the cross disappear with a button click, now we're stuck with it always on. We are still unable to interact with the comms menu using head movement in "use mouse" mode yet we can with the head locked mode. We've been asking for this to be fixed since 2016.
  22. I'm having the opposite experience. MP servers are transformed for me as so often FPS drops below 45 in MP. With MR always on even a full carrier deck is workable instead of nauseous at 22fps MR and at 30fps it's a good experience for me. Total game changer in this regard. I still cannot go near this mod with MR off though.
  23. I've gone the other way at 130%. I'll settle for an acceptable 30fps MR on the ground with 45 being the new 90 in the air. Clarity is best I've seen in DCS. For the type of mission our squadron runs this could just work.
  24. I thought I would give this a go. Same result as before for me. Instant action Cauc/F18 free flight. FPS fluctuates between 60-80. Not at all smooth looking sideways, unplayable really. With MR always on, very smooth@45 or 90 I've had this conversation before with a mate who swears that he's having a smooth experience with Steam VR/motion smoothing off. Never got to the bottom of why we were having different experiences.
  25. 3090/I59600k@4800. I must be missing something here. With MR Always on and XR render scale at 100%+ I'm getting a very good image with the MR doing a great job, particularly @30fps which is a game changer in multiplayer servers. There are however the downsides of reprojection present. I'm confused at the enthusiasm for MR off. Seems to me that unless you're hovering around 5 or so of this 90/45 fps "soft lock" consistently, anywhere in-between is a blurry slideshow when looking sideways out of the cockpit. Missions don't generally draw resources in that way.
