Saratoga is planned but Indy and Ranger need a lot more rework and will probably come much later.

It's not about that. People act like it's the best thing since sliced bread and super useful to quikly lock up some grond target and attack it. Mech-scan radar A2G modes, especially on something as small as the APG68 aren't used. Ever. I talked to two active or former Viper drivers and they all just laughed at the fact. It is not trained to nor in any way useful. Nor will it be of much use in DCS tactically unless you built your own mission and know where and what to look for. It's the same story with the Hornet, people really wanted the A2G radar modes wnd once it came out used it for about a week to then fall back to the TGP and other means of accurate targeting. I have not seen anyone mention it or use it in regards to the Hornet anymore. HTS and HAD - very useful. Sniper XR - very useful. ACM slewable - very useful. A2G radar - not useful. No one is being an elitist and saying you can't have fun with it or not use it but there is simply this big and very common misconception that it is some sort of air to air-like version of targeting and super common in real ops. I would really like to see said individuals come back after a month or two and report back on how often they used it and how successful they were with finding the thing they needed. Genuinely curious. And once again, have fun, enjoy the Viper. No one is telling you not to.

Also delayed as per last "mini update" which then got removed again.

Yeah just check that website I posted above, tons of C's (low lot however) in the late 80's.
-
To do what with it? It is never used in real life by real crews nor even trained for.
-
I can see what you are saying but I don't think Heatblur should focus on said assets. If ED want to do some 80's naval assets free of charge (heck, even the USS Missouri would be pretty cool) then that would be fine. And like I said, SAM systems are much higher on the list of priorities than naval assets and ships, unless you want to primarily do anti-ship operations. I'm just happy to have the Forrestal, hopefully sooner rather than later Saratoga and an A-6 and KA-6 AI. Again, DCS is primarily a combat flight simulator not a virtual battlespace sim like say CMO etc.

Yes, and I couldn't care less what ship does the escort. As long as it shoots down stuff and protects the CV. Again, all of this has nothing to do with flying the plane, it's just what a very small munority or model building / RP people seem to want. Some people really get obsessed with historical accuracy and depicring a accurate snapshot in time. I get it but DCS is simply the wrong platform for that.

DCS isn't some era-specific roleplay sumulation. Especially given the different timeframes of modules we got. Albeit, the early 2000's is probably the closest or most accurate we'll get. I for one really like their choice of the Forrestal as it opens up quite a bit for stuff like the F-4 an gives you that 80's to early 90's Tomcat vibe. Could really care less about naval assets in the battlegroup, which as a pilot I will more than likely never get to see up close anyway.

reported MiG-29 cockpit lights bug

Would also be cool to have the flood lights back as a separate binding. -
core game. Everyone can use it.

Heatblur Update - Supersize Me & Public Roadmap
Airhunter replied to Cobra847's topic in Heatblur Simulations
Can we get an updated roadmap when the next patch drops? Since a lot of high-prio items seem to be included in that one. -
Easy solution, if you fly in a group, use the default VF-32 skins (4 with unique modex) or create your own or use the numerous full squadron user skins available online. You can limit it to one squadron to save space even.

What's a ship of war without its' crew?
Airhunter replied to Gierasimov's topic in Heatblur Simulations
I don't know why people have all these wrong expectations. Nowhere did HB state SC like features or an animated crew. All we have is this one render of the green shirt from the past. Proper animations and other crew assets would take up a significant amount of time which are almost equivalent to another DCS module. Once ED finishes their crew animations and AI using some API other developers might use that to their advantage. Until then everything would just be twice the amount of work.- 11 replies

Yeah but how does this affect others? You can decide not to use it if it bothers you. Also this is a game, not some hardcore professional sim. Or do you follow each startup exactly by NATOPS and never exceed ops limits? What about the Viper with 4x HARM's or the fact that FC3 is a thing in this game? This exact feature is nothing more that giving Jester a talkon and nothing a decent human RIO wouldn't be able to do. I really don't understand why this bothers you or how this is some unfair advantage? Obviously everyone has their opinion.

The next F-14 LANTIRN Pod Update looks AMAZING.
Airhunter replied to Coyote_One's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Yup, really great stuff like you'd expect from HB. Now people can employ a proper Bombcat. Can't wait for this new update.- 1 reply

I think this is their long term plan. Won't come over day or during EA obviously.
-
Sure, having potentially most Jester functions as keybinds would be great but given the more relaxed nature of delivering LGB's I think using the menu is just fine. Especially given the fact that you can even have a 8-way hat or use your trackIR to control the menu.
-
I don't know but Red Kite's video was pretty great already and at least I have a pretty good idea on how to use the pod. It's literally just the menu.
-
I mean if you want to go that route on the SC you are still taxiing to and from the cats on your own, with no yellow shirts guiding you. All cat's are always manned and the cat "crews" run away just in time where a plane enters the groove. The only immersion the SC offers is the launch process itself, everything else isn't really any better than the stock Stennis. It is very unflexible in my opinion. Once the Forrestal comes out I probably won't touch the SC again until it gets some serious updates and advertised feature additions.

Yup, looks great but most importantly - BOAT!

Gotcha! Can't wait. I am only asking because I saw a 5 wire setup on the renders/previews you guys showed so far.
