  1. 50-60 hours is that even enough time to cover the training missions, just perhaps? What it does quantify (no offence intended) from what you have stated is that you have little experience in the Harrier over the last 3 years to quantify. To those that have logged over 20 times your flying hours in her the frustrating bugs are still there, some now dating 30 months since being reported with Razbam basically all but ignoring the forums. Have a read on the Harrier forum. Yes superficially the Harrier is great fun, and i enjoy her, but for first time, first strike pass there are many annoying bugs that in a competitive pvp environment can be very costly, aka forcing re attack and the inevitable loss of aircraft in game. OK so back to the OP's post...... In terms of module choice if your new again to flight sims after your break and guess never got into it properly (?) then the A10c is also a nice slow bird to fly and learn some virtual airmanship. Even if you have bought the other modules i'd recommend going back to basics and this thing loves to blow stuff up as per your requirements. The Hotas systems is still the best modelled in game and if you want to fly CAS or A2G then nothing can touch it. I'd also recommend it if you want to learn a module in SP as there is many good campaigns (enemy within, ranger now free i believe plus the ED tac training modules). It will also serve you well as will force you to learn about Sensor Point of Interest and Sensor of Interest, along with common things such as CMS measures and how to employ them, flying and hunting by RWR, a skill often missed by those that just jump straight into the 18 or 16 and fly from SA. Its also the most polished of any module and has recently just had a cockpit upgrade so its up there graphics wise with the latest releases from ED. I cannot recommend the module enough because it will, as a matter of becoming proficient in it teach you what the various ground units looks like, a must if you end up on hardcore multiplayer servers such as DDCS. It will also teach you the various type of weapons systems and how to properly employ them along with TPOD employment, all of which are skills you can transfer well into the F18/F16 at a later date. So yes if starting out go with A10c, yes it has a learning curve, but its all things that you will need to learn at some point anyway. Also for flight model and learning do not overlook the L39/C101 they are excellent also, albeit limited to dumb bombs/rockets with those. Lastly maps, you don't mention them, obviously you get Caucasus free, however Syria the new one is absolutely the best map by far, then PG, then Nevada. Normandy is now good and also Channel (small) however these are mainly used for WW2 and warbirds. As a side note, i like the Nevada map and again if intending to play offline then there are many campaign modules that will need the Nevada map as they train there (as per real world). I still use Nevada personally as its a great looking map and fly there when new modules come out for testing purposes. Hope this helped.
  2. Why is it not realistic, playing devils advocate here its radar guided, hence why it has greater range than a standard IR - it only goes IR active in its terminal guidance phase which can be well above the cloud base. What is wrong and havent seen it noted here is that you can kill the launch radar vehicle and still launch the missiles, to my understanding this is incorrect - the system needs the initial radar guidance prior to handoff to the missile seeker head for IR.
  3. Uboats just to wade in here - In combined arms if you set up a simple mission say with an Abrams and HQ7 launchers, then fire off AP rounds into the body of the HQ7 it does no damage, it has to hit exactly a really small killbox area in the base of the turret. I've even driven behind one and fired off 5 tows from a Bradley and all its 30mm direct in its rear to no effect. It's not just Bravo one, this is a widely reported issues from many experienced users of Combined Arms on DDCS. Also to note the Chinese BMP suffers from the same issue. If you cannot replicate after spending 5 mins on this, which is all it will take to set it up then let me know, i can provide countless tracks.
  4. I'm guessing this was a vague attempt at Sarcasm lol. I had a lot of patience with Razbam but being honest now its run out nearly 3 years later with simple things being left and constant poor communication and inadequate bug fixing. I find them rude as bugs reported do not get a response, despite the fact that we, the customer are trying to assist them at a cost to our time and wallet, not theirs. As i said earlier this year, its time to face reality and moderate expectations. Razbam are a fantastic and very talented group of artists, however their coding ability to be honest i find rather dubious and suspect given that long standing issues such as TDC slew would be resolved if they had the skill set in-house. Sounds harsh and said not to cause offence its purely an observation from the facts we have in front of us going on 3 years since the harrier released. So basic but vital controls, the TDC analogue slew, first raised 30 months ago to which we got the response of be patient, its more complicated than it seems and will be resolved (i can find the thread if needed). Then we had the excuse that it was down to peoples hardware architecture not their code with not being able to render in time (despite 2080ti/64gb ram/m2), then an admission there was an issue to the code which was being fixed but here we are, same problem and not resolved. Finally MFD brightness / contrast installed this year post 2.5.6 (not great EHSD still not good re font, still got to turn map off) but do we have working keybinds, despite them being in there, no its non functional! Equally we keep getting more and more screenshots of random aircraft, lighting at one point i spotted, would make a nice wall paper i'm sure. Makes me laugh when see all the kids on the F15E hype train, again moderate your expectations, even if they do push ahead at the expense of their unfinished modules and bring one into EA this year, its still going to be 2023/24 before operationally effective, which even then it may not be. Something has to give and i hope Razbam look at their business model and work out how they can sustain the correct resource base they need to expedite the sales contract issued at POS with the consumer for the modules they sell. We need coders not more artists screenshots that do not mean anything until they have code behind them. Lastly and i think most peoples frustration comes from the diabolic communication from Razbam, not helped by the community manager that its fair to say when asked anything just responded with ask Zeus, he has since left in the last week or two. I for one, will not support any further Razbam modules until they at least start acknowledging genuine bugs raised on these forums and stop being ignorant. Lastly for me, i saw the comment from Razbam saying that they like to use Facebook as they can control the comments on there, which is not a healthy attitude and speaks volumes (also re facebook - some of us don't or can't have it due to work/personal reasons).
  5. PS - Maybe if we post it on the Russian forums it would get listened too perhaps and actually something done. Rare to i see the dev's reply on these forums.
  6. Yep this was back in March - and i commented then about it straight away. I cannot believe its been overlooked once again especially with Syria also now out there. For as i said an hour at most (for a decent one with texture) its ridiculous that ED have not sorted this by now???? Enter Bignewy or nineline please....
  7. Not sure why your surprised, its more capable than the F35 in some regards when it comes to Stealth and its for that reason the US will not export it.
  8. And there lies my largest concern about the Eurofighter coming to DCS. That said what we get in DCS is the simulated flight model, the core of the systems and the capability will not be released especially regarding Radar capability / target recognition and ECM. If DCS does go down the lets make aircraft up without any source documentation it starts becoming pointless - might as well go fly war thunder.
  9. Oh dear...OP have a think about what your asking to be developed and the fact that ED's mission statement is to bring realistic simulations to the marketplace for the end consumer. Your playing the wrong game if you want current military aircraft, also to note some of the third party mod aircraft are shocking, they have zero resemblance to how aircraft handle IRL, even popular ones that have gone to alot of effort, the flight model is poor, great for screenshots etc but yea leave alot to be desired beyond that.
  10. Given that 100% of payware maps for modern conflict zones within DCS are based in sandy desert areas i would love to know why the Farp Pads do not come in more than one colour in the mission editor. Its 10 minutes of a dev's time to change the colour palette, an hour at most if they wanted to add texture. Please resolve as its a terrible break in immersion and they look hideous out in the Desert for mission designers. Can we at least have a sand coloured Farp Pad, ideally more than one that match, PG, Syria and Nevada. Common ED its a long overdue and simple win.
  11. God no terrible concept, how to really break immersion in VR so for the radio menu, and i never use casual comms, use Voice Attack and also run the modifer to reduce the size of the F menu font. That ideally is the only modification it requires where the customer can choose the location of the menu on the screen and also the font size in the specials tab. But a Jester wheel, yuck no thanks, super painful least currently its above your view line up in the top right. Bad enough we have to suffer the carrier ball pop up coming into the carrier.
  12. Guys having issues, id suggest heavily this is settings based. If your running at 2080 level with a CPU at 5ghz on a M2 SSD with a 32GB page file also re VR you should be getting good performance. That said, 2 things after playing around that are a must, setting the terrain textures to low (cannot visibly see a difference but big boost in FPS) and reducing preload radius to around half so circa 70000. I dont know why the latter makes a difference especially when i have 64Gb of fast ram but it does. Obviously keep your PD realistic, circa 1.4, MSAAx2, AAx8 and the map will run well. If its not you've got issues with your system running other tasks. Map runs fantastic. Again check your user settings, clear out your cache files. PS ive tried this with 32 and 64GB ram, no measurable difference i can see. 32GB is enough for whoever said its not.
  13. I'd start by disabling windows game bar to improve performance. Having that on is a definite no no for gaming. After that check your texture settings in DCS, on this map there is a big difference between high and low with little visual difference. I normally go with high but have swopped to low. For me the map runs super smooth, getting (with ASW off Rift S) 60fps in some areas and 35-40 FPS over the biggest cities, this is with decent high settings for VR (PD1.5, Distance high, trees 100%, MSAAx2, AAx8, shadows low, terrain shadows flat). I would not attempt to play MP in DCS anymore with 16GB of ram as some have said on this thread. Not tenable anymore need 32Gb for MP and for the new maps. Also CPU speeds need to be getting upto the 5ghz re VR and 2080/1080Ti minimum. Solid map by Urga, a credit to them. Also don't confuse there is a memory leak with the F10 map that still floats around, happens on all maps, not been able to nail it down but there is definitely a problem if been in tac command or reviewing F10 map, its especially bad on the channel for this issue.
  14. Best release module wise for DCS in a long long time. This map is fantastic - also the performance is brilliant. Just a point to note if anyone in VR is getting stutters or generally. On this map there seems to be a big difference between low and high texture settings with once again very little if any visual difference. Big performance fps difference between the 2 settings however esp over city's. Hats off to Urga media, after being an early adopter of the Normandy map, which as we all know until the patches last year that brought it upto spec it was dubious performance, this is how you bounce back from customers being sceptical. Solid product, few bits need to be looked at re the odd bridge placement, but the performance, attention to detail is next level for DCS. Honestly i do not want to fly any other map its that good. The variety of the topography, vegetation and the sheer number of battle spaces offer unlimited potential for combat both air and ground. Also on a general point for all maps and the rift S - i find the game works better by disabling ASW (push left control 1 to disable it, left control 4 to put it back on in game).
  15. pathetic response - I've been pretty scathing at times especially last year when they where moving devs away from Hornet to rush out the Viper despite promises earlier etc, all of it constructive and factual based however and i've never been deleted or censored once. Daft statement - that is unless your points are personnel in nature or likely to cause offence. However well constructed, considered critique with genuine points i've yet to see censored. If you don't see the perspective about not given a third party a large portion of revenue for basically doing nothing, whilst at the same time lowering potential game performance on your machine and also limiting the ability of the company your buying the product from in the first place to spend more on development its really short sighted.
  16. PS.... some guys where reporting near gig download speeds yesterday direct from ED, was even some screenshots knocking around. All the people that where crying yesterday re Syria, this is only going to happen time and time again - move away from Steam if serious about DCS and wanting things on release day. Learn.
  17. Do not understand why all the people who rely on steam for DCS. Download rates are fantastic now direct. Cut out other software running, improve your game performance oh and lastly and more importantly it helps raise more revenue by keeping DCS direct to ED. Why give steam whatever the % share (no doubt 15-30%) which takes revenue away from ED that allows basically them to have a better resource base and us a better product? It doesn't make any sense (for those that like to count the hours played its in your logbook in game). Good that steam brings in new players, but surely be responsible and migrate once you know your going to be playing DCS and buying further modules. It's super easy to migrate over and again cuts out additional software running on your pc when its really not required, especially VR players.
  18. INS can very quickly become way off - and the issue is MP, not always though over G either. I've had mine off before with no more than 4g on the meter check dial. I agree this is a real issue and needs bumping up the to do list as it really inhibits the 14. There needs to be something in the Jester wheel to say IFA, or pilot sets a fix point on F10 map and tell jester when overflying it to update. Please @Heatblur can you review
  19. Its been highlighted that they should not have been in the patch notes - will be here next patch as per Big Newy on Discord
  20. OP raises a very valid point, sometimes the bridges are too steep and vehicles get trapped. Its an issue for Combined Arms and needs resolution.
  21. Superficially its great fun to fly and im sure SP users who only fly against easy AI dont have any issues. Try on a server with good players with human tac commanders and PVP which requires a first pass, first strike and your TDC fail's then its not so great. Nothing negative or bashing about my comments its purely observational - facts are facts that is unless your disputing the facts and timeline i've raised. Anyway as said enjoy the Hype train and no issues with the Razbam fan boys - just some of us are more realistic, not negative, there is a big difference.
  22. Time to step off the hype train and have a reality check, just look at the struggles with the Harrier module to get the basics right aka keybinds. I wouldn't bet on the F15 being fully functional until late 2023/2024 and that is not an exaggeration, given that 2 1/2 years since release they can't even sort the TDC slew axis out. Great artwork guys however definitely sceptical at present on coding ability / resource base which to be honest has only grown in the last 3 years from believing in Razbam to start looking at them as a dedicated group of talented artists that struggle to code proficiently.
  23. Also if you did a search this has been raised so many different times on the forums, however here is one of the original posts, 2nd December 2017! https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=196933 Zeus replied on the 20th December 2017, "Folks, TDC axis is a bit complex to code thanks to the many sensors the aircraft has. So please be patient." And 32 months later.......problem is still here. I honestly have come to the conclusion its a skill set shortage, it can't be anything else otherwise it would have been completed by now surely. I'm hoping they can hire someone that can complete this and other keybinds or equally get a sub contractor who has more experience than the current Razbam team. As i said anyone getting excited about the F15E, and there are many, need to have a reality check on capability/timing.
  24. Op is correct - he is referring to the TPOD which does indeed have a fault with the TDC slew analogue axis - Anyone that say's its fine, works perfectly or there is no issue has no comprehension of the Harrier module, only fly's it to a superficial level and is not aware of the history of this bug. Even recently Razbam inaccurately suggested that this could be due to hardware of the user, aka it cannot render the image in the time required so sticks. I can confirm that with a 64Gb Ram, 2080ti and a 5ghz this is not the issue. Last month or so razbam then said they had found another issue with the code for this and resolved it, i can confirm once again this is not the case. The problem is still there, with or without curves, going standard install the problems remain. Fed up of reporting it as a bug, Razbam clearly are struggling with this one, its been 2 years and we can't even get the slew axis right. I just wish they could ask ED to copy and paste their code, or even the Deka if they are not capable of writing it, as its gone on long enough. To note this is the only module that has the issue, aka its Razbam's mistake. As for keybinds not working, just like the new MFD controls, keybinds in settings but not coded to work, farcical. And people get on the F15 hype train - i have no idea why given their inability to bottom out the basics with their existing modules.
  25. Highly recommend - especially with something like i have mine installed on a duel monitor stand and it works very well as can figure to the exact height/position and the Vesa plate on the stand (link below) only needs a slight 2mins with a drill/dremel to elongate the holes by 2mm to line up with the MFD. Far better than anything i've found including the monster tech ones (which are daylight robbery imo, i think they have lost the plot to be fair re their price structure) https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MR397OH/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1 One other thing i would recommend on the middle button on each side i have black stick on foam pads same size as the button and just helps focus the finger - to be honest your muscle memory gets it right 99% of the time anyway. But yes in summary a MFD's work exceptionally well in VR, but i do think the monitor stand helps with that.
