  2. Check out my video. I talk about the taxiing issue and you can see for yourself. It's not that bad. You can spend 5 minutes googling and find excellent Su-25 taxiing footage. The sim is SPOT ON. If you are breaking the airplane on landing, you may need to re-examine your technique. Notice how the pilots bring them in very very softly even aerobraking. Try to do the same. And notice the shaking on landing? It's actually softer in the sim. Also take a look at the reflections in the HUD. I would say ED got it right. Actual here My video here https://youtu.be/gFvKIOS40ZY?t=195
  3. Gentlemen, the Eagles Nest server is up with a scenario created by myself which runs for 48+ hours straight. This means you can fly night ops and training missions. I encourage anyone who wishes to check it out to give it a try. Currently I have two scenarios built, and more will be coming. Continuous tanker and AWACS coverage for BLUFOR. Russian and US fleets on station for the duration of the mission. Fly for either side. PvP and Pve. Precise target coordinates. SRS equipped and encouraged. Discord also available. Current scenario: Operation Joint Resolve, Days 3 &4. Russia is being threatened from the South by Georgia and Iran. NATO has struck a deal with Russia to help stop the aggression. China, angered by the deal between Russia and the US, sends "advisors" and "observers" to the region. Weather is low scattered clouds with light rain. Days 3 opens with a full on armored push into Abkhazia from the South. Good luck.
  4. Thank you sir! And this coming from a guy who hunts Shilkas with a Christen Eagle. I am not worthy...
  5. Here is a short IFR flight in the Su-25T demonstrating the autopilot route -following and RTN modes. hope it helps someone. https://youtu.be/gFvKIOS40ZY
  6. +1 on the list of improvements....Nothing too difficult in there. I wish they would re-visit all the FC3 birds and just clean up the minor bugs and such
  7. Yeah you're right. I made a change to the mission and made that point a "landing" point. Yet another mistake on my end. So it was as they say "working as designed". Anyway I hope you check out the video when it uploads. I will post a link here.
  8. Yeah I did a better video. The first one had so many mistakes...lol It was so embarrassing after I watched it. Yeah Draconis I probably agree with you more than it appeared from my post. no worries man. we need to fly together. Did anyone notice in the video that I took off with brakes locked? I didn't do that on this one. It's uploading now. On the last waypoint, I did NOT designate it as a landing waypoint. But it was located over an airport. In the uploading video you will see the system automatically choose RTN mode and the correct airport on it's own. I thought the waypoint had to be designated as a landing waypoint for that. Learn something every day. I guess it chooses the nearest airport after the last fix?
  9. Well I see your point Draconus. And I agree with you mostly. But we have limitations in a sim. Some of these things make it more enjoyable to some. With SRS you can dial in a frequency as opposed to going over to Discord and changing rooms. It sounds better too in my opinion. As far as the 90's Su-27 guy, he would be talking to GCI with all kinds of intel as to the locations and types of other aircraft. The F10 map with "fog of war" setting seems to simulate this kind of intel.
  10. 2 is applicable if using SRS...which does work with FC3 birds 3. The IAF exists to prevent people coming in on reciprocal headings and having to do a 360 to establish on the approach course. Reference #1, would you rather have to type in the name of the field every time? The drop-down list is handy. It's like having a kneeboard. Is the kneeboard cheating? In my career we used EVERY "cheat" we could get. I mean things such as maps, charts, GPS, INS, radar vectors, DF steer, etc. There is no "cheat" with these things. These are called "tools". In the old days we had lat/lon coordinates written with grease pencil all over our scopes in order to cheat. Go to Oshkosh, or Sun-n-Fun, or any other airshow such as RIAT and the like. Look in the cockpit of one of these older birds. You will see a GPS attached by Velcro or straps or bolted in somehow. I suppose they are cheating too. "you cheated sir" "I do not believe in the no-win scenario"...Capt James T. Kirk lol
  11. Fighting Falcon.... 1. yes 2. radio frequencies 3. it should be pretty close. If you are in the Su-25T you can select the airport by number. re-doing the video
  12. That's because it is directing you to take up to (sometimes) a 90 degree intercept on the course line. In real life you fly something like a 30 degree intercept. I use the HUD circle as an altitude ref and the HSI as my horizontal ref, except at night in the Su-25t when you cant even see the HSI needles. You can also use the ADI needles for vertical guidance. And be careful following that HUD cue when making approaches to airports with high terrain nearby (Gudauta). It may just put you into a mountain if you trust it blindly. Always be aware of terrain and obstructions (also Gudauta...radio tower almost in the pattern).
  13. I agree with Ironhand...F10 is useful and realistic as now everybody has some form of GPS or something similar in the cockpit, even the old Su-25. The runway is determined by the wind in the sim. In real life runway is also determined by the wind, except early in the morning. Then, wind permitting, the runway may be determined by the sun. If the sun is in the pilots' faces, and wind permits, then the runway will be westerly.
  14. I for one love night missions. That is one of the reasons I decided to run my own server. And yes the Su-25 cockpit is very dim. So dim, in fact, that the HSI is almost not useable. As a pilot myself, I know that VFR night navigation is easy because you can usually see so much farther than in the daytime. Small towns and cities alike are very visible. Runway lights are directional now days, but still blindingly bright. DCS needs work in this department for sure. I hope that ED decides to re-visit the lowly Su-25 and the lighting issue in general. I love flying sorties at night. I especially love flying night sorties in the Su-25T. The Ravens (Su-25T) own the night by the way :)
  15. Actually if you look at the airport approach charts on your kneeboard, you will see various initial points around the field for different approaches. The system will automatically choose the correct one for your position and the active runway. It then will steer you onto the correct path for landing. You can use this to fly an approach in basically zero-zero conditions. Now the autopilot is a little different in each of the FC3 aircraft. My favorite is the one in the Su25T. But you can fly the return pretty much the same in all of them. If you want I can show you how to do it in the Su-25 and Su-27 on the server or maybe I will do a video. Anyway, the autopilot is rather aggressive at getting you back on course. Therefore it makes large corrections. You can look at your HSI and manually fly the needles until you get back on course if need be. Anyway, the offer still stands to fly with me. I can show you a lot easier than typing here. Instrument flying is one of the things that makes DCS so great in my opinion. Actually, if anyone is interested in doing some instrument training, let me know. I will put a scenario on the server and we can setup a time to fly. I am UTC-5 here in the USA.
  16. I, for one, do NOT get the balance thing. Fights are never balanced. Improvise, adapt, and overcome. Fights are not fair except maybe in training or on the sports field. Get over it. Learn to exploit your enemy's weakness and your strengths. That being said, a good way to fix the missile-slinging-food-fight that is PvP these days is to limit aircraft, fuel, and weapon availability as in numbers available. Also, in the extreme, one could limit the pilot to one life per server session. It would change the dynamic and force people to actually use...wait for it....tactics. Regardless of the method used, there HAS to be some sort of incentive for a pilot to survive and bring his jet back home. Otherwise PvP is just a food fight. Well that's my opinion for what its worth.
  17. You can try my server "Eagles Nest". Not too many on right now, but I hope to see it grow. Time zone is UTC-5 for me. I can fly almost anytime though.
  18. Squadron name and structure has changed. See the new thread https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=248320
  19. Zhukov I hope you are correct! I would love to see some updated frogs.
  20. Sorry guys but I was interrupted by visitors. My Su-25 developed an engine fire. I diverted, but crashed while landing with full ord and full fuel. Basically I missed the entire battle My apologies. Thank you Satarosa for all your hard work on the mission.
  21. The shaking is realistic. And when a plane shakes you cannot read the instruments very well in real life.
  22. Yes it was in UI Layer and in General tab. Thanks Draconus
