Super Carrier / Deck Crew "launch-landing logic"
rayrayblues replied to Niehorst's topic in Bugs and Problems
^This^ also it would be nice to hear radio comms with AI units in the stack. -
Hi Johnny, looks like the invite to Discord has expired. I am interested in any skins you may have for SH-3, SH-53 or SH-60B. All of my carrier missions use a Rescue Helo script and the vanilla models are pretty lame at best. Any skin would be an improvement. :) Thanks in advance, Ray

When using late activation, how long is the delay? How late is late?

How about new languages for ATC communication?
rayrayblues replied to DustyFox's topic in DCS Core Wish List
ED is working on a whole new comms system. Lets make sure they get it right before adding other languages. @Dagger71: you are correct. English is the universal language of Civil & Commercial aviation around the world. -
I guess the point I was trying to make was this: I am still a newbie. I have only been simming for less than 2 years coming over from that other more arcade combat game after almost five years. I go to the forum to learn. Everything I have learned is from the forum or YouTube. If I went to the FA-18 section, I would expect to be drowned in an alphabet soup of acronyms. This section is about a much simpler topic, comms. I apologize for my ignorance, surely there was a time in your life that you didn't know something. Sometimes I find myself spending more time on Google researching these acronyms and initialisms than I do actually reading the forum. It's not your fault, it's mine. I am still a student and you guys are way ahead of me. I did Google (Bing) SRS and this is what I got. https://www.bing.com/search?q=srs&cvid=8d7ef3d4288044cbb46d0cfa5f4ef429&pglt=43&FORM=ANNTA1&PC=U531 An acronym is an abbreviation that is pronounceable as a word, APP, RADAR, ZIP, NASA, SNAFU etc. SRS is hardly pronounceable it is an initialism, not an acronym nor is it intuitive enough to figure out nor is it easily searchable on the internet. (See above link.) @Draconis: Thank you, I did ask. BTW is not an acronym either. It is common texting shorthand such as: IRL, IIRC, IMHO, LMFAO, LOL, FWIW, etc. @Jonnie2Bad: Thank you for a clear and concise answer. @Lurker: Thank you for giving me an advance warning. :D @Gruman: Is your spellchecker turned on?

I didn't change drive letters because I was transferring from my C drive. I Copied and pasted to a dedicated drive with just DCS on it. Then all I had to do was go to DCS Open Beta/Bin (or what ever version you have) right click on DCS_Updater.exe and "send to" desktop. Now it checks for updates every time I launch the sim. If you don't want to check for updates every time, right click on DCS.exe and send that to the desktop. (or wherever you want the launcher.)
-
Yes I'm serious. Not all of us are intuitive or even psychic enough to decipher every acronym or initialism that we come across. Words matter. Thank you for somewhat explaining although you used even more acronyms that you assume everybody knows. BTW, in game is two words, or hyphenated.

Okay, I'll bite. What is SRS?

Ditto.....where is the link to the skins?

There isn't one yet. If you don't get Charlie right away, you can assume there's traffic ahead of you. Just pick a spot, circle and wait. ED is working on a whole new comm's system for all carriers, heliports and airports. Hopefully they will release it soon.

For what it's worth, I have used FunkyFranky's RAT (Random Air Traffic) script and it works pretty well. Moose handles the parking and launch issues. All four cats are used automatically. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...om-air-traffic This also includes a search and rescue (SAR) helo script. https://forums.eagle.ru/forum/englis...+helo+funkyfra In this video, I launch 4 Hornets, 4 Tomcats, 1 E2-D and a SAR helo in 10 minutes. The planes will fly around randomly and then return later, land on the carrier, respawn and take off again. Now this is only for "window dressing" to populate the ship. They cannot be used to attack anything. GL&HF Ray

^This^ Be patient, keep circling and you will get "Signal Charlie" when it's your turn. The real problem is when you are low on fuel. There is no way to let them know so that they can give you special consideration for an emergency landing.

Problem balancing during takeoff/landing and taxi
rayrayblues replied to Passero's topic in DCS: P-51D Mustang
Pull the stick all the way back to lock the tailwheel while taxiing. Steer using rudder for gradual turns and differential braking for sharp turns. Preset 5 to 6 degrees right trim and about the same for down elevator. Use full flaps when heavily loaded. 10 to 20 degrees when empty. Don't use more than 60% throttle. Release stick. Ease in the power and gently use rudder to keep going straight down the runway. Never use brakes during your takeoff run. At 100 MPH, the tailwheel will come up. Use gentle rudder after the tailwheel comes up to keep going straight. Ease back on the stick at 140 to 150 MPH. Raise landing gear first then flaps. Trim as necessary to keep the sideslip bubble and climb indicator in the center and most importantly, Have Fun. :D -
autostart not moving prop- and booster-levers forward.
rayrayblues replied to D4n's topic in Bugs and Problems
I month and 10 days later, it's still the same. As long as I remember to move the levers forward before I take off, otherwise I'm running down the runway wondering why I can't gain speed. :D -
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear in my previous post. This is a difficulty not a bug and it hasn't been solved. https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=286968 The problem isn't solved, only discovered. When in battle it is at best difficult to fire rockets after reloading, especially when using unlimited ammo. Basically, as I outlined in my previous post the issues are: 1 - You have 10 HVARS or 6 Bazooka tubes. 2 - The counter on the instrument panel goes up to 24. 3 - Whether reloading in the air, or on the ground, you have to reset the counter to 1 before you can fire the next rockets. On the ground it's not really much of a problem as long as you remember to do it. In the air however, since the counter is down low and behind the stick, you either have to use active pause to reset it which in battle can be dangerous. If you are being shot at by AAA you need to get out of range or they will get you. It's also not very realistic (yes I know, neither is unlimited ammo) but, it really breaks immersion. What I've been doing is when I'm empty, take a quick peek at the counter to see what number it is on, then press the fire button repeatedly in order to bring it back to 1. Example: I fire 10 HVARS, the counter is on 11. I then press the fire button 14 times to reset the counter back to 1. It's tedious, but it works. An easy fix would be to have the counter automatically reset to 1 when reloading , or give us a counter that only goes to 10 like the one in the P-51. Thanks in advance, Ray

Does anyone else have problems with fictionalized track replays?
rayrayblues replied to Osita's topic in General Bugs
Yeah....the longer the track, the more likely there will be a problem. If you want to use tracks for videos (I do because of more camera angle options) try to make the track as short as possible. -
All games put a cap on download speed. When there are thousands of players all downloading at the same time, it can overload their servers.

[REPORTED]Refuelling / Rearming operation issues.
rayrayblues replied to FlyString's topic in General Bugs
Is the airport coalition set to your color? (red or blue) Neutral fields won't necessarily respond to REA/REF requests. You don't have to shut down or open canopy either. You can do a hot REA/REF just make sure that the airfield or FARP is the same coalition and make sure that you are using the proper radio channel or intercom. -
IDK....You can press LCtrl+Pause to show frame rate, but that command is not on the the controls menu.

[REPORTED]Flexible Sight is auto deploying
rayrayblues replied to RazorbackNL's topic in Bugs and Problems
You can't stop it from automatically deploying, but if you press M it will retract. -
Yeah...you need to be on the intercom channel.

[REPORTED]Texture Missing-Rocket Pod
rayrayblues replied to rayrayblues's topic in Bugs and Problems
Ahem....this is the 3D objects and textures section. The only other article on this topic suggests removing user mods and running a cleanup & repair. I did all that and this is the result. dcs.log Lincoln.miz
