  1. Exactly. I am having a great time. There are many other more relevant things that need to be fixed. I would rather see high quality AI units, or more WW2 assets like German bombers. We could also use WW2 era ships and ground units. It's hard to create a proper era specific mission without these assets. Very true. The bottom line is what counts. Absolutely true. Some people just don't seem to appreciate the work involved in creating what we have now. The man hours of development and testing is staggering considering the small dev team they have. Hats off to ED. Thank you for a wonderful product.
  2. My father served on this ship 1943/45. Fletcher Class Destroyer DD 679 USS McNair. This would be a nice addition.
  3. Other loadout options for the G model: As you can see though, the 12 X 500 lb gives the most "bang for the buck" at 6000lbs per drop. I believe that there also was an option for 6 X 1000 lb not included on this chart.
  4. I disagree. The maps don't really have dates and times on them. They're just maps. You can set any scenarios that you want with the ME. I am currently using The Channel Map for the new WW1 mod. The grass aerodromes Hawkinge and Lympne are a very close representation of what they had back then. There were no paved runways yet, so as you can see, using your imagination, the maps are pretty much generic. Now this is a good idea. The more the merrier. If I want to set a 1940/41 BOB scenario, the He-111's and Ju-87 Stukas are necessary, and while we're at it, there is also a need for Hurricanes and early Spits. For later 1943/44 scenarios yes the Ju-188's and FW-200's would fill the bill, as would the Me-264. Bottom line though is that there currently are no German bombers in the game which for me at least, leaves a big hole to fill. As for the Ju-88 torpedo planes, I don't see any WWll ships to attack, or am I missing something?
  5. Sorry, it's not fixed yet. This picture was taken on Fri. Jan. 29, two days after the patch. The bomber is just floating at 21964 ft. at 90 kts. Well below stall speed, but it won't go down. The crew bailed out 15 mins. before the above shot was taken.
  6. I understand what you meant, but I think the OP is more interested in either, reliving the moment, trying to see how it looked from F2, or recording. @SMN Please correct me if I am wrong. Is that what you meant?
  7. As mentioned in several other posts on this topic, TacView is great, but not if your intention is to make a cinematic video, or even just to immortalize a portion of the battle where you did something amazing.
  8. For me at least it was both. I have Ukrainian roots so I have an interest in the history of Soviet aircraft and I learned a lot just from playing WT. I'm not advocating for adding the Yak at this time. I would rather see the Pacific theatre develop with the new Marianna's map. Allied and Japanese assets air, naval and ground. To properly use the Yak we would need an Eastern Europe or western Russia map with battles centered around Stalingrad or something. I'd rather be flying Hellcats and Corsairs against Zeke's and Oscars. Edit: and landing on the Yorktown or Enterprise
  9. Bear in mind that the main rotor on the Russian birds rotate opposite the Huey. In order to counter torque on the Huey you add left pedal and on the Hip & Hind, right pedal. The Mi-8 (Hip) is as you asked, the obvious stepping stone to the M-24 (Hind), but for just plain fun and maneuverability with decent firepower, the Huey is hard to beat. I love my Huey. It is also, representative of my generation. I grew up during the Vietnam war. If you really love helos, then I would (and did) buy both and learn to appreciate the differences. Here I stand, wallet in hand, waiting for the Hind. C'mon ED, gimmie, gimmie, gimmie.
  10. ^THIS^ The Yak 9 is one of the most popular planes in the lower/mid ranks of WT. It comes equipped with either 20mm, 37mm or 45mm cannons. I would guess that you haven't played WT. The whole Russian lineup is very popular with pilots and tankers all over the world. Granted, WT can hardly be called a sim, It's mostly arcade. They do have a sim mode, but it doesn't compare to DCS. Cockpit modeling and FM's leave a lot to be desired. That's why I'm over here now.
  11. It wouldn't hurt to add them to airports as well.
  12. Well......I kinda like to set a "Big Formation" of B-17's and have them drop "all bombs" on multiple targets. Not realistic I know, but neither is unlimited anything, otherwise I would have to set up multiple formations which will reduce my frames to slide show. I think I know what you mean though. If you're in a dogfight, you would want the other guy to run out of ammo first, otherwise if you run out and he doesn't, there's no way you are going to break off to reload because the AI never give up and will hunt you down til the ends of the earth. Correct me if I'm wrong.
  13. This is so true. They are almost unbeatable now.
  14. ^A big +1 for that.^ Although I have been lobbying for an He-111 addition to the WWll assets pack. We really could use them for the Normandy and Channel maps. If we could just squeeze that one in, please.
  15. For WWll I would like to see a flyable A-20, B-25, PBJ or A-26. Anything bigger would be boring to fly, unless multi crewed, manning gunner positions against attacking fighters.
  16. A map for Korean War era would be nice as well.
  17. Maybe, I sure hope so. Yes.
  18. If you boot from the Media Creation Tool, the option to upgrade from 7 is still there. Either download it to a flash drive or burn it to a DVD. Insert tool, restart and press F8 to get to the boot menu. Select the drive or disc to boot from and follow the prompts. It's free.
  19. Where is the He-111 in all of this? In addition to bombs on the Ju-88, an He-111 is a must have for any scenario in western Europe. Fully flyable of course would be better, but for the short term, at least an AI version + Ju-87's must be in the mix. There are currently no German bombers in the game. There were several that operated during this period/theatre, the 111 being the most prominent, followed by the Ju-87 ~variants Stuka dive bombers. Maybe then we can move on to populate the upcoming Marianna's Islands map with allied and Japanese assets, but I agree that we must finish Europe first.

  21. Thank you. Been waiting for this.
