I just adjust the Birds slider to allow more bird strikes sometimes. :)

Increasing DCS play time since the release of viper
rrohde replied to lee1hy's topic in DCS: F-16C Viper
Well, I can certainly share the excitement oozing from OP's post! -
Switching between AMRAAM and Sidewinder
rrohde replied to antsh's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Not sure if that's a bug since the Viper's been only out in Early Access less than a week. I would chalk it up to this feature being Work In Progress (WIP). -
Isn't the HMCS SOI dependent?
-
Yep, starting from September HP ships their new and improved version of the Reverb (not sure if third-party resellers do the same). Mine is one of the newer models I've purchased on Sept 4.

~25 gig of disk space used for planes I don't own?
rrohde replied to Bmeist's topic in Installation Problems
Those are usually AI planes used in DCS missions and campaigns; Asset Packs are usually useful for missions and campaigns that require those assets (e.g., ships, tanks, other vehicles, etc, etc) -
F-16 USAF crashed near Trier, Pilot ejected safely
rrohde replied to BitMaster's topic in Military and Aviation
https://www.spangdahlem.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1983521/f-16-crashes-near-spangdahlem-pilot-ok/ As someone who was born and raised in Trier, and hung around a lot at Bitburg Housing and Spangdahlem AFB back then, this comes as a shock. -

That's why the pilot body can be toggled off for all planes for those who don't want it from within the DCS menu. I also tend to turn pilots off on the fly with a mapped button press in case I need access to a panel really quick - no big deal.

You nailed it - and I share your sentiment. Those "YouTubers" have their own agendas to further their channel's visibility, so they jump onto controversy and the lowest hanging fruit. They are by no means experts. It's all about the clicks for them - whatever it takes. For them to elevate themselves to experts just because they are on YT and can google around for some docs by no means, not ever, could trump the knowledge of those who work at ED, as well as the SMEs that ED works with to produce such outstanding quality with each and every module they release. The Viper is another shining example, even in its early access state.

Readability in VR using the HP Reverb is top notch; I have zero issues reading the MFDs or the HUD. (I've mentioned it somewhere else before, but my go-to for readability in VR testing is the Christen Eagle II - sitting in its backseat, being able to read the speed indicator well enough means that I can read pretty much everything important in any DCS cockpit - and so far the Reverb has not disappointed).
-
I have no problem to get my pilot to sustain 9.0G in smooth, controlled turn at corner speed; he's close to blacking out, but still very manageable.

Impressive Detailing - Needs Appreciating More.
rrohde replied to Tinkickef's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
+1 Being able to walk around and see everything up close in VR would be a perfect addition to DCS, I agree. -
Good find. Love little details like that. :)

Hast du das nicht gelesen? "Learning from the past and including subject matter expert input and testing right from the start, countless hours have been spent at coding a new and true to life flight model to a point where we can honestly say we’re proud of the result. "

[Official] SimShaker for Aviators
rrohde replied to f4l0's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Yes, the Fw-190 A8 SSA entry seems to be just a copy/paste from the Fw-190 Dora... but hey, at least we got something for now - so thank you f4l0. :) Would be nice if the Anton gets some extra SSA details considering its radial engine... -

You would think that people know it's early access, so at best those videos should be previews, not reviews...
-
Nicely done!
-
@Wags - since we're all in it for the long run, this should be a non-issue, but thanks for sharing these little tidbits for those who tend to forget what early access is and what the limitations are. Rock on!

Awesome photo! And a +1 for Spangdahlem Viper liveries!
