I am in the close enough camp, I dont have the choice not to be due to the two left hands and inability to cut straight!

This is really fantastic!

Done worry, C4ISR is even more confusing!

I dont know, GR1 is pretty old now, GR4 had all the new weapons that were integrated onto Typhoon so I am pretty sure the documentation is not available. GR1 was really just dumb bombs and Alarm for anti radiation and JP233 for runway denial, both of which are long out of service.

someone tryed to export the mfcds to another screen in the FA18C ?
Mr_Burns replied to Capt Zeen's topic in Home Cockpits
New Helios is awesome for the F/A-18C with the UFC already set up! Wish they would add each panel though so you can assemble your own screen. -
Tornado GR4 is out of service with the UK now, this is the one i want to see although I dont think we will get it but the GR1 with TIALD, JP233, terrain following radar and other goodies would be awesome and I would imagine TIALD is out of service now?

This guy is special, can we keep him?

Ah how time flies, (pun intended). Hey what size aluminium stock did you make those switch heads from back in 2015 and was it solid bar? I was going to try and make some using a drill press as the lathe and a dremel as the tool but local DIY store only has very small diameter bar.

Guys if its too pricey here is a simpler alternative, just get a mini keyboard and use a modifier (I use pinky): Unfortunately I cant find that keyboard for sale any more.

Looks like a cream filled biscuit! PS. I too want a landing gear handle, thought about using one of those drill bits that cut pipe holes. Select one that is the diameter you want, cut about 5 holes in a piece of 5mm poly sheet, glue them together then sand them into a handle shape. Drill into handle with a drill bit about the size of a biro. Cut a biro, stick in hole and glue, paint then glue to switch, job jobbed.

Can you imagine the fury of the forums if they decided to charge a small fee for the time and effort put into updating the aircraft? Its like watching an old space movie and complaining its not cutting edge CGI 10 years later, but some in this community would do that..... "Bbbbut raytracing....." (insert new technology here) yeah we will upgrade you $50 module for ever free of charge like ummmmm...no other game. I suppose this is a unique quirk of putting out an environment (DCS World) which is ever evolving, with say Battlefield, they can just release BF6 to include say VR and Ray Tracing (or whatever) and the old one falls away unsupported, whereas if DCS does an improvement that changes something they have to make it backward compatible or else update all the modules using it. There will be an interesting time when there is a step change in technology and DCS World and all the modules will become completely obsolete, like they were written in DOS! I probably wont be around but can you think of any other platforms like this one? It seems the type of software that lends itself to a license fee in my opinion.

Sorry to hijack but what color are people using for the outer skin and internal grey parts. Anyone in Australia suggest a shade of wall colour I could use for the pit. Also, do you guys get decals printed on line and delivered or make your own?

This is why I wish my old man was still alive, he could have done this unlike my two left hands! Nice work man!

Help with potentiometers and usb controllers for DIY F/A-18C UFC.
Mr_Burns replied to Headwarp's topic in Home Cockpits
You dont want to use pots on the UFC, use a rotary encoder. Pots are used on the axis but non of the UFC inputs are one the axis. (AFAIK). -
Hang on a moment, post your pit in the pit builders section, its awesome!!

I was a premature, so last night it went and I couldnt see it in the bios or anything. Same again this morning. So I did as this internet page said and jest left the power in for 60 minutes or more but not the SATA. I typed this thread then thought it's been an hour so lets see. Plugged it in and went to bios and there it was the little bugger!! Booted back up and I have started backing up all those things I dont want to lose on my USB Hard Drive!! So if anyone is reading this, try the above method before you throw the SSD against a wall!

It is the Samsung black, had it for about 2 years, last night was downloading something from Steam and the PC froze, recycled it and it booted from by HDD an old profile! Doesnt recognise the SSD at all. Is that it dead, deceased, no longer of this world or can you recover them? Im trying leaving it plugged into power only as an interweb page suggested but not holding out. Is this common and if getting a new one, are more expensive ones less likely to siffer this fate or is it just a thing that can happen to SSD's? Its a lot of DCS to re-download thats for sure.....

Capt Zeen how do you program these? I wanted to use part of your panel such as the UFC, HUD control Panel the Armaments panel and IR panel but none of the others. Is there any chance you could explain how I remove the panel graphic then delete the switches I dont need and then perhaps create a new graphic panel? I noticed you used the A-10C interface, how do you know which switch in A-10C is the one in the F/A-18C? -
Its not really a good picture as the perspective makes it look like the lower scree is bigger that the view screen but I mounted a monitor below the upper and modified the desk: When you are sat there the lower monitor is below the eyeline so it works. I also did this which shows how bad photo perspective is, 15" monitor to 27" monitor from the side: From infront the photo makes them look the same size: WHen they are in front of you, it looks fine....

5k for a screen on wheels?! Seems absurd but obviously a niche market. I have some magic beans for sale.

I play trackir and it can be a pain in the arse. Move too fast and too far an it inverts itself or loses track, you have to be smooth when you play and even then it can be fickle if you have another light source or want to look down at a panel. Im not going to VR yet and got trackir before VR, as someone else mentioned, TiR doesnt need a computer upgrade, you can just plug and play, you can also probably sell it for little less than you paid for it if money is an issue. However, whilst you could also get a 2nd hand Occulus, you would need the PC to run it. I think the phrase is horses for courses, they are not really an alternative to each other, TiR provides additional immersion to 2d but VR is a different dimension. I havnt gone VR because by the time a build a rig capable of running a VR headset, the VR headset will move along and a new generation will be available, I might jump aboard the next release of VR and do a PC build just for it.
