[RESOLVED] No FFB support (not even center spring effect)

Recommended Posts

Like the title says. I have a limp stick on my hands. Could have used at least centering spring effect. :(

I hope this is a bug and not intentional.

Likewise, disappointed.

The MS FFB2 is, if not fully supported in FFB by most other modules, at least provides stick tension which is fairly crucial to pleasant flight experience.

Thats super disappointing. Every other aircraft has it including the viggen, so confused why it isnt in this

FFB support will be added in a coming build :)

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have an idea of how detailed it will be? Like the Viggen?

Thanks for the reply swither, in the meantime I guess Ill have to break out my trusty X52 stick

MS Sidewinder FFB2 here and no "Return to Center" for me also.

Hope fix will arrive quickly, as I'd rather not have to deal with exiting DCS and then turning on simffb.exe each time I want to fly the F-14.

Thanks in advance!

Finding out that heat blur fly with out FFB is like finding out they fly with out Track IR or VR...

Kinda shocked they are using spring sticks in development.

I'm using FFB edit soft ware to emulate a spring but doesn't work very well. I get it just right then start DCS and it is too strong or I do the long F-14 start up and go to taxi and realise it isn't on at all.

Have to restart DCS to get it working :(

You are aware, the biggest issue with force feedback is that currently there are no new FFB joysticks available on the market? Only the occasional "used" 20 years old on eBay.

I am sure there is no native support for a VFX-1 Helmet or Quickshot joystick either...

Any chance that you could elaborate on whether FFB support will mean "basic FFB centering" or something more (e.g. variable stick pressure from wing loading)?

are you aware how common the use of a ffb stick is in flight sims regardless of their age?

try it out its awesome!

looking forward to the fix, surely the flight model of the f-14 will be a pleasure to fly in combination with a proper ffb implementation!

That is not the point. The issue is lack of Sticks available to developers to buy in a shop and maybe limited SDK and documentation support by the original developer (mostly Microsoft for the Sidewinder).

If you can donate your FFB stick they could at least test?!

As we have seen in the past, developers often try to get FFB sticks supported, based on what is available to them... but it is not easy if you don't own one, already.

I have switched to a Force Feedback Seat cushion (Jetseat) a long time ago. Far better than the ol' shaky stick and much more immersive...

Heatblur have at least one developer that owns a FFB stick.
So they said they will try to support it. You happen to have the SDK and Documentation for developers? Could help to do more than basic "centering" force.

Im sure that they could get it from YoYo or one of the other FM developers at Eagle Dynamics.

...or reverse engineer, given the time. It's up to them how much ressource and effort they will invest. Given how Heatblur acted in the past I am positive they will at least fix the centering.

I would still recommend to look into Jetseat or similar, definitely next level of Force Feedback, it might take a while for f4l0 to add the F-14, but the results with positional direct vibration feedback in your butt and back is awesome.

Too much smoke for nothing... FFB sdk&docs are readily available via DX... some of the HB guys have already worked with mig21 (which has it) when they were still a one team. So the issue is really only time/priority on their time table.

f4l0 has already added F-14 support to SSA ;) (I have a jetseat, and interacted with him about this)
