[REPORTED] What happened to the trees?

After the 2.5.5 update the trees has changed. The branches look much worse than in 2.5.4. I liked the trees very, very much in 2.5.4.

To each their own but the trees look far more detailed and realistic in the second pic you posted.

Me too! 2.5.5 trees look better to me.

I agree. The new trees look distorted. Real trees don't grow like that.

Also prefer 2.5.5 trees....

Did they put those trees also into Normandy? Or has this to be done by the map-developer?

Normandy looks stunning, but those trees just shimmer and shimmer.........

I'm using a 27 inch monitor, and the depth perception of the trees was much better in 2.5.4.

I see some strange dark patches in the forest (see in screenshot the trees towards the back) which disappear as you move close, anyone else seeing that?

I'll give one example. Look at the tops of the trees. Trees don't grow that way. They grow straight like the old trees. There are many more examples.

However, better performance is welcome.

We think the trees look better, as well they perform better.

Is that all still based on SpeedTree tech, or something new and different?

The old saying about not being able to see the forest for the trees is brought to mind here. This is a flight sim, not a forest sim.

The trees in Caucasus have always been wrong no matter what. They are unrealistically tall/big especially for that region. Anybody who ever been there (incl my self) can tell that. Why it matters - it breaks immersion giving a wrong perception of altitude.

I'm not seeing any performance increase with the new trees within Caucasas. I agree that the old trees looked better, too.

Them 2.5.5 trees really do look a lot better!

Ye i like new trees more than older. When you're highter it looks more real.

I'm sorry... I'm a HUGE Eagle Dynamics fan, but these new 2.5.5 trees look pretty awful (1st picture) when compared to 2.5.4 (2nd and 3rd pics) and I'm seeing zero performance gain on my end. Visually, this new update looks kind of disappointing in some areas. (I mentioned the degraded Hornet afterburner effect in 2.5.5 over in the Hornet thread.)
