Bucic Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Great news. I guess it means no more compatibility problems. If X-Fi user will hear all the sounds right so will realtek user. There were some serious EAX/Alchemy problems in previous sound engine. Even on alternative ASUS Xonar series soundcards. Another software sound title after ArmA 2 ... Distiler Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Good work! C2D 2.6 with new Sound Engine compared with C2D 2.6 with old Sound Engine, have same performance (FPS), better, poor? According to Coff, in general we won't see a decrease in fps because cpu are underused in DCS (lots of cpu cycles free). I assume tho, that will be the case for multicore cpu, 1 core cpu most probably will be out of luck. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=856614#post856614 Edited March 23, 2010 by Distiler AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2

Distiler Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 (edited) Yes! but I, and maybe others, assumed it was an upgrade from LO to the actual 1.01 DCS:Ka-50 engine (I assume, perhaps wrongly, both are a bit different). Imagine the surprise! and DCS:Ka-50 is also upgraded, that's so nice from ED. Other than that, we love details! like the multithread thing :) Edited March 23, 2010 by Distiler AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2
beers Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 I experimented; i have on-board sound, realtek. Turned off sound in game, looked to be about 10 fps gain. Putting the sound on a different thread could likely result in similar gains? norm Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 Good, i am tired of hearing the SAM launcher fan sound in the cockpit!
GuntiNDDS Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 so then, what are the features of the new sound engine ? from the vidoes it didnt sound that spectacular, tho i guess thats because of their compression.
EvilBivol-1 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 I don't think it's supposed to be spectacular, but much cleaner, more efficient and flexible. As for specific features, one of the more interesting ones is the modeling of the speed of sound. You now hear events with a delay after you see them at a distance and that's pretty cool. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
