Frostie Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Well, the beta installation installed OK today using the unmodded, current DCS World vanilla version. This vanilla version of DCS World does not include the 104th's anti-cheat mod; so will be interesting if I can access their server without it. There is no such thing as an anti cheat mod, *ALL* servers have an integrity check in place (by default thanks to ED) that checks certain files, if any of these files are not default(vanilla) in your DCS then you won't be able to access that server. The 104th and many other servers provide a 'default file package' with the relevant files for you to install inline with whatever files the server 'Integrity checks', these are all vanilla files in case you have used a mod or changed one of these vanilla files that the server checks. DieHard Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 I remember adding a mod specifically by the 104th a year or two ago, maybe longer, before FC3 and DCS World It was required. And when I updated to DCS World I added it again. I got the mod off the 104th's web-page at the time, both times. It was an anti-cheat mod, 104th specific. I contacted Crunch at the time. Maybe something has changed since. My modded 104th copy of the vanilla DCS World 1.2.7 accesses every server I have attempted to be on. All my stuff is legit. Nothing is pirated. Thanks. No nothing has changed, like I said before what you downloaded from the 104th was not a mod but a collection of the vanilla files that get integrity checked. eg. if all the files in DCSWorld/sounds (for example) get checked by the server then all those vanilla files will be in that pack on the forum just in case you have for example installed a sound mod and you can't access their server, so they give you the vanilla files to install back in. That is all it is. "[51☭] FROSTIE" #55 'Red 5'. Lord Flashheart 51st PVO "Bisons" - 100 KIAP Regiment Fastest MiG pilot in the world - TCR'10 https://100kiap.org
mr_mojo97 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Not sure if this is the correct place to put this so mods - move it if necessary. So I've downloaded 1.2.8 beta but still use 1.2.7 for now. So the question is can I uninstall 1.2.7 and install 1.2.8 beta without any of my settings, profiles, logbook, key commands etc being changed/affected or should I wait to download 1.2.8 through module manager when out of beta? Corvus Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 You can install open beta as it's separate install from normal 1.2.7 (do no install it to the same directory!). Open beta beta has a separate config folders also. Keep your 1.2.7 install- it will be updated to 1.2.8 when it moves out of beta version. My YT channel https://www.youtube.com/user/corvuscorp81
mr_mojo97 Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Ah, OK then it uses seperate config folders. I'll wait it out then an hopefully end of the month or there abouts it'll come out of beta and just update it from module manager. HiJack Posted April 16, 2014 Posted April 16, 2014 Do not delete your 1.2.7 installation at any point as you then will have to install it again. 1.2.7. is the official release and will be used when open beta is released and then updates the 1.2.7 installation.

Yurgon Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 I am getting 30KB/s download. Is that normal? Common problem. Try to cancel the download and start again (and repeat if necessary). This helped a lot of people.

Pepec9124 Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Updated Steam version, for the first time DCS updated itself in background. Well I had to guess why it is not showing any controls. Integrity check downloaded ~900kB and it's cool now.

taps Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Where is the F-15 English flight manual that has been added according to the release note?
kontiuka Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 What does this mean in the latest change log ... "Aircraft can be activated from the Command Bar if selected Uncontrolled mode."
Mustang Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) Just a note: 1.2.8 uses a version of the modified high.lua that i uploaded several weeks ago, the difference being ED decided to reduce the draw distance to 10km to accommodate for a broader range of PC configs. To get the best visual quality of the scenery change the farDistance to 30000.0 (30km) this is HIGHLY recommended :smilewink: Edited April 21, 2014 by Mustang
FlyNate Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Someone please tell me whats up with this, lol. How do I make the entire thing look like the right? Anyone else have this problem? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
FlyNate Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 yes. let me get rid of it and see what happens... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Flagrum Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 yes. let me get rid of it and see what happens... There is a parameter set by default that causes this. You can see the same effect when you look at the screenshot (for comparisation with / without it) where you downloaded sweetfx. Seems the author just loaded it up that way. :o) But right now I can't remember what that parameter was exactly ... sorry.
Mustang Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 Check inside your SweetFX_settings.txt file for #define USE_SPLITSCREEN, make sure it's set to 0.
FlyNate Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 (edited) THAT DID IT!!!! Thanks guys! I love 1.2.8 btw. SLINGLOADS BABY!!! and my A-10C Countermeasures finally work, lol. Edited April 21, 2014 by FlyNate [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

What other changes, like the one proposed above, should I be using to achieve an enhanced graphical experience? Should I use SweetFX with DCS? Edited April 21, 2014 by Echo225
