Just curious to know which aircraft people like to fly most in FC3. Personally I prefer the Su-27 the most. I tried getting into the F-15 but just can't seem to enjoy it as much as its Russian counterparts.

My fav in FC is the Su-33.......carrier landing + multirole = fun. Although I may fly the F-15 more, but I really haven't flown FC for over a year.

Personaly I prefer the f15.. I think the su27 is the most georgous fighter but the cockpit and interior makes me want to puke[except the stick]..

I just do not like the cockpit layout and metric system employed in the RU birds.. Not to mention the ugly ass blue paint.. If the SU27 had western dials , black paint, and Imperial measurements It would be my #1 choice..

Before anyone give my heat over not liking metric let me explain my reasoning.. While I like Metric when using for tools and smaller measurements i.e. millimeters centimeters. How ever past that it's too condensed for larger measurements in distance, mass[weight], and temperature.. To me there is not enough of a gap to describe something.. Take temperature for instant.. The difference between 20-25 degrees C is a HUGE difference in what you would feel.. Yet 5 degrees is such a small margin that when describing it is hard. While the metric system's core idea is great as it based on multiples of 10, it just to me doesn't have enough of a gap to show differences in minor things. Thus why I don't care for it.

what about nautical miles then?

what about nautical miles then?

Nautical miles work really well for air navigation because of their basis on how the lat-long system works. Having other numbers in feet just helps the conversion process. Trying to do quick 60 - 1 calculations for stuff like descents is much harder to do when you have to do the work for getting the range in nautical miles, and then have to convert it into metric. Having it all in the same system keeps from having to convert measurements, which takes time.

Kilometers and meters might work better in scientific fields, but a coordinated system of measurements that I can use easily in conjunction with my navigation tools is better for quick determinations and ease of use.

nautical mile is 6000ft it's based on the imperial system. It's easier to do the math on 6000ft nautical mile then 5280ft of a statute mile. What gets me is why it wasn't reduced to 5000ft. 5's are easier to calculate then 6's . O well.. Never said things with imperial was smart. as I said it just has an easier gap to desern over metric systems.

See above, the Lat - Long system is divided up into minutes, 60 of which make up a single degree. The physical length of a minute of distance is equal to about 6080 feet. This is often rounded down to 6000' for reasons of practicality (rounded down only for quick maths, your flight computer will use the correct value for this distance out to several decimal places).

Ever wonder why the 60 - 1 rule works? It's not by accident.

The fact that I'm actually interested in the discussion regarding the metric system tells me why I was the last kid in High School to get bell bottoms.

Nobody under 50 will get that.......

MiG-29 for me, as it's the most versatile of all the aircraft in Flaming Cliffs 3. It also handles excellently, and is arguably the best looking of all the aircraft.

I totally agree. Even though, in my opinion, the Su-27 was weakened in FC2, I always flew it rather than the F-15. I don't know current situation because I don't have time to fly lately. And about the Russian cockpits, I simply adore them.

Voted for the Flanker, but atm with the PFM I like the actual flying in the Eagle better. Once you have flown a real fighter with PFM the other fighters really feel scripted and on rails.

I can't wait for the Flanker make-over. Soon is not quick enough!

With the updated flight model to PFM (in 1.2.8 beta) Eagle instantly jumped to my favourite from FC3 aircraft. It at least equals, maybe even surpasses some other DCS modules for me now.

Before the update Su-27/33 were my favourites in FC3.

I see most of my success in the F-15C, but my steed of choice is usually the MiG-29A/G/S

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
