It seem that the new Consoles hardware (8GB Ram) is able to properly run DCS, with the large possibility to have a great optimization (standard hardware).

Obviously forget switchology pits, hardcore avionics or AFM: simplified gameplay's should be focused on the same game-mode already available on PC's version.

Downloadable content (modules) will be perfect for a console environment, Combined Arms included.

It should be a good way to get congruous fundings for our PC's version.

What do you think?

No. ED has far, far too much on their plate.

EDIT: Even if they did decide to go that route, how much would ED have to spend, in development dollars, before they saw the first penny of console revenue (or their cut of the penny, since the console OEMs get a big piece)?

EDIT2: A large portion of the advantages gained from having 'standard hardware' become moot when you are still coding for the PC as well.

There are enough arcade console flyers. If ED were to do this it would be nice to see it as being as sim as possible. AFM 100 % certain. ASM is tricky because of controllers.

Over G was the best console sim I've ever played. The only problem I had with it was whatever was arcaderized (mostly mission set up, perhaps some of the underpowering of the jets).

Console success does not mean you have to go full arcade. Long ago Gran Turismo became really successful by promoting realism. It's still riding that train, but it's been slowing as the game is no longer the leader in console driving realism/racing and people are realizing it.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

No, you don't turn DCS into arcade flight game by removing all the hard-core stuff.

If you remove all of the simulation then you removed everything that sells DCS. DCS doesn't have the graphics, action, story to compete with HAWX, Ace combat and other arcady flight games.

Anything that gets put on a console destroys it on PC. This is a fact.

Plus the 12 year old Call of Duty crowd is way too stupid for even the simplest aircraft at our disposal.

Well I was playing DCS when I was 12 years old so, perhaps don't be a [] to people just because of their age.

If they do try it, perhaps just FC3 would be a good package to start with. All new 6dof cockpits (almost done...except mig), AFM for all aircraft and just simulation enough. However, they need to get the immersion factor...which means.... achievements, good missions, nice cutscenes, improved graphical effects.

does Thrustmaster provide drivers to use Warthog with a console? Saitek provides x55 drivers on console? NaturalPoint supports TrackIR on consoles?

At the bare minimum, you need a HOTAS stick, a keyboard, and a mouse (might be able to omit the mouse if you don't mind loosing the clickable cockpit) to successfully operate DCS as intended. To effectively operate DCS aircraft, you need to add in TrackIR for improved SA. Throwing in a set of rudder pedals never hurts, and is damn near mandatory to fly the P-51, MI-8, or Huey with any degree of effectiveness.

The only application that might be effectively employable on a console is Combined Arms. Really not worth developing a whole new codebase to make the sim available to a market that A: is largely uninterested in it (the whole appeal of console gaming is minimum-fuss instant-carnage gaming, after all) and B: won't have the interface capability to fully utilize the design features of the sim.

Imagine DCS without all the realism and complexity (if it is to be run on a console with reasonable smoothness). All that is left is mediocre graphics (no modding allowed!) and maybe some 'instant gratification'. HAWK or Ace Combat is the clear choice in comparison.
