btw. Recorded from track.

Dogfight beetween MiG-21bis and F-4E Phantom, guns only. Just for test only.

On a large angle of attack engine has a problem with "hold the air". Truly nice effect (sound and flow problems, warning lights on too).

MiG isnt manoeuvring fighter and it wasnt easy :].

(btw. damaged one engine, F-4 hasnt gun in RL).

Nice video!!!

Very impressive!

I'm really amazed that you didn't loose sight of him a single time. I find it very hard to spot and track aircraft in DCS but I guess that's something you get better at.

Very nice video and very well flown.

What sound can be heard @ 0:10 that makes a green light glow above the gear handle?

That + He has a 2560x1440 resolution display, makes it easier to see stuff.

Nice fight. I remember seeing Devildoggamer do the same instant action and he was trying to outturn the F4 in knife fights, and the F4 just completely raped him.

You approach looked more to be big swings with high speed that let you get a position of higher altitude that the F4 couldn't keep up with. Well played.

Yep, that thought had been crossing my mind while watching the video - now to go have a look at some 4k...

4K is great, but they are extremely expensive... And don't forget that you need to DRIVE all of those extra pixels so you would need a TITAN or similar to run it...

And I know folks will say SLI, but SLI is not currently supported in DCS so I would REALLY recommend waiting until EDGE comes out and then making the decision on whether 4k makes sense or no.. More expense to 4k than just the huge dollars invested in the panel itself..

Hey guys i found a 27" monitor with 2560x1440 resolution. The only "problem" is that it "only" has 60 Hz refresh rate. How important would you say that refresh rate is? I believe I'm running on a 60 Hz monitor right now and I'm having no problems with that.

What I'm trying to ask is...Is it worth looking for a monitor with higher refresh rate? Does it improve the experience?

I live in the US. Does this make the graphics better, more clear?

Thanks

The picture quality should be more clear so you can spot details a bit better. Which could be very good in DCS.

Ok thx. I will look into buying a new monitor this weekend.

Maybe you should wait and have someone with a better monitor confirm this? It could just be speculation so far. From what I've read, low resolution and disabling AA helps with detecting other aircraft...

Actually, in both Il-2 '46 and the whole LOMAC / DCS series I find it much easier to spot and track planes and even ground targets at low resolutions like 1024x768 or even 800x600. I could have flown Il-2 at 1600x1200 easily, but I never did just because of the "dots".

I hope that EDGE will improve the general visiblity more to what it is done like in BoS. I think they got it quite well.

Do yourself a favour and get the new Ultrawidescreen from LG, running at 3440x1440. It's bloody marvelous I tell you.

That is great if you have a MAC, but I don't see that it can be used without Thunderbolt interface... (And I am not certain you can even GET Thunderbolt for WIN machines..)

I'm running it on Win 8.1 through a HDMI cable. No need for Thunderbolt cable.
