Cobra,

I noticed the language changed from "soon" to "in the near future". I'm not sure I can define either term aside from the fact that they are both relative terms and could mean anything from the next 10 seconds to a light year away.

Wake me when you want me to buy something. :joystick:

Funnily enough, it was a joke in reference to using "soon" in another thread and someone asking me to use a different term. :P

In any case, enjoy some of the videos and pics being made available by our previewing partners, and stay tuned for more info.

Are you sure, about a month ago Cobra said on these very forums that the module was done.

But I guess it takes a long time to get it ready for release.

I mean we are about a month away from Steam release and the manual isn't even done yet.

As we've reached a bigger testing audience in the past few weeks, dozens of new bugs have been found and thus far eliminated.

There's also no input like user input, which propagates into things like UI/Default Keybinding changes, or changes in unclear tutorial mission text.

Some of these changes need to propagate into the manual as well (e.g. if a user finds that a specific function is inadequately explained, or a default keybinding changes), thus the manual is constantly in motion.

Once the changes are done in the EN version, the changes must then propagate to the 4-5 different localizations as well.

While it would be no bigger deal to publish a manual today; we want to make sure it's fully representative of the final product before doing so.

Thanks for the feedback.

Sounds like you guys are still quite a ways away, especially when you consider regression testing that has to take place after fixing a multitude of bugs.

Do you ever regret not going the Belsimtek route and releasing as a Beta, afterall, when it is released there will be dozens if not hundreds of bugs found (there always are). These could be found while the product is still a beta and not a final.

I started programming in the 80s, and software today has completely screwed up the meaning of Alpha and Beta anyway, Beta used to mean "Feature Complete" and only bug fixes now. Today, Release Candidates are rarely feature complete.

To be honest, I prefer LS way over Belsimteks way to do things (on this topic, one can't tell about anything else yet).

The Huey is the only thing to be out of beta (I could be wrong on this though) and back in the days there were rumours about multi-crew features, troop deployment and sling loads. Well the sling load came with one of the last patches, but to me it seems ridicolous, one object, a keyboard combination to lock it, this seems way to FSX-ish (game-like) to me...

I've bought every module of them until now, but to me, all of them still seem to be unfinished and I won't probably ever get rid of this feeling.

Ok, so from your perspective how complicated should a sling load be from your role as a pilot, IRL, the pilot holds station over a spot, the ground crew hooks up the load. To release it is usually a safety switch and then a button to release.

Almost feels like we are waiting on a woman. She keeps teasing and teasing us, and finally by the time she lets us have it, we are no longer intrested...

Great, I´m trying to learn dogfighting in the Fw 190 and F-86. Now with the MiG-21 (& Hawk) it´s just gonna be more on my plate. And after what I´ve seen I dont´think this one is going to be any easier neither.

So uh, for those who own it, how does it perform online? I imagine nobody is attempting to shoot down fourth gen fighters with it, since that's suicidal with exception to highly unlikely circumstances. Mostly chopper and ground pounder hunting with some strike missions on the side?

I'm more concerned of how the engine performs with it... and all footage I could see yet proves that it doesn't perform at all. Therefore I just hope we'll get EDGE as soon as the MiG is out. Otherwise we can go hibernate again.

What videos did you watch?

From the ones I've seen it looks just as good (or bad) as any other DCS module.
