MBot Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Phantom was flown by naval pilots too Yes, but Cobra says the type in question did not fly with the Marines. So it can't be the Phantom, since it did.
MBot Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Check Cobra's avatar and look at this pic again. :O Nice find. If they realy did the Tomcat, I would wet myselfe. But somehow I find it hard to belief. Just for laughs, here are all the jets that have been flown by the squadron with this logo (VF-101Grim Reapers): F2H Banshee F4D Skyray F3H Demon F-4 Phantom F-14 Tomcat As far as I know, of these aircraft only the Demon and the Tomcat were not flown by the Marines :)
chev255 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Maybe he meant the specific version was not used by the Marines, such as F-4E?

zaelu Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I just hope this agitation is not for some chicken like plane. Phantom and Tomcat would be best for a "crescendo" from Mig21... Skychicken from Hell... wouldn't :D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
WolfK33 Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Maybe he meant the specific version was not used by the Marines, such as F-4E? Would be just as fine with me. And we would get it faster as there wouldn´t be need to model the finger and the polaroid
Kusch Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 What won? :music_whistling: Give me "flying telephone pole" (SA-2)!

T0x1s Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Cobra can you just tell ous if it is a jet aircraft or not? :D
chaos Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 So your guess assumes that Cobra didn't really mean this. Originally Posted by Cobra847 View Post ... it was actually not flown by the USMC. YoYo Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 I know! Marine, maybe one engine, not US, something unexpected: :D Or... just Harrier? :) Webmaster of http://www.yoyosims.pl Win 10 64, i9-13900 KF, RTX 5090 32Gb OC, RAM 64Gb Corsair Vengeance LED OC@3600MHz,, 3xSSD+3xSSD M.2 NVMe, Predator XB271HU res.2560x1440 27'' G-sync, Sound Blaster Z + 5.1, TiR5, [MSFS, P3Dv5, DCS, RoF, Condor2, IL-2 CoD/BoX] VR fly only: Meta Quest Pro
T0x1s Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Cobra said next plane is something close to their name Letherneck(if i understood correctly) and what i found after a fast search was this: "Grumman F6F Hellcats drawn from U.S. reserves were used extensively in Flying Leathernecks." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Leathernecks :/
Rogue Trooper Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 Also a drawing of a Hellcat on the leathernecks title page. xxJohnxx Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 It was stated earlier in this post that the aircraft was not flown by the Marines (which the F6F was) altough you would have expected it to be flown by them. It was also stated on diffrent occasions that they would go for a jet aircraft again. So basically we are looking for a jet that the Mariens could have flown, but haven't. Cyb0rg Posted October 24, 2014 Posted October 24, 2014 So basically we are looking for a jet that the Mariens could have flown, but haven't. With 2 engines. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asteroids ____________________________________________ Update this :D
Revan Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 it is either a varient of the F-4 that the marines never flew like the F-4E, or the F-14 DCS: F-4E really needs to be a thing!!!!!! Aircraft: A-10C, Ka-50, UH-1H, MiG-21, F-15C, Su-27, MiG-29, A-10A, Su-25, Su-25T, TF-51
TaccoZ__Amigo1__ Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Check Cobra's avatar and look at this pic again. :O Sorry guys but this is only the insignia of VF-101 "Grim Reapers" They flew everything from Banshees and Skyrays to Tomcats and will fly the Lightning II shortly. I also really hoped for it but no. :( http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/VF-101 Death is just nature's way of telling you to watch your airspeed. :pilotfly: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
T0x1s Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) I think we can take away F-4 and F-14 because they are multi crew :( I hope for another Soviet cold war era plan like Mig 27 or Su 22 :) Edited October 25, 2014 by T0x1s
MBot Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 it is either a varient of the F-4 that the marines never flew like the F-4E, or the F-14 I don't think it is any of those. The riddle goes "it was actually not flown by the USMC. It is an aircraft you'd expect to have been; but wasn't". I don't see how anyone would expect the F-4C/D/E/G to be flown by the USMC, they had plenty of their own Phantoms. It also doesn't really support the Tomcat, why would you expect the USMC to fly a fleet defense interceptor? I am actually pretty lost here. Other than the A-10 and perhaps the A-7 Corsair I can't think of any aircraft I ever wondered why "didn't the Marines get it?".
Flycat Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 we can use chrome broswer, use right mouse buttom click cobra's new avatar, than select search though google image, the result shows that it was apart of f-14b modle of vf-101 by 1/32 tamiya. well,we can fly as IRAF and fight against mig21 of Iraq air force.good idea for roleplay LOL
TurboHog Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 How about the F-105 Thunderchief? Was only operated by the Air Force and ANG. I would love a fighter-bomber! 'Frett'
Fenderalac Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Sorry guys but this is only the insignia of VF-101 "Grim Reapers" They flew everything from Banshees and Skyrays to Tomcats and will fly the Lightning II shortly. I also really hoped for it but no. :( http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/VF-101 That doesn't matter, he most likely chose this picture for the aircraft and then hid it with the grim reaper, he wasn't looking for the grim reaper insignia in the first place. :smilewink: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I./JG2 Oberleutnant Flieger
TurboHog Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 How about the F-105 Thunderchief? Was only operated by the Air Force and ANG. It may or may not have two engines. It has two inlets but a single engine. When you look at it from the front you'd think: "It may or may not have two engines" I hope I'm right :D 'Frett'
