Griffon26
Hi That's exactly what the OB Installer will do. It'll grab most of the files from your regular DCS Install and copies them over. Greetings Alright thank you! Ill tried it yesterday and it started to download again. Ill try it again ;) EDIT: God im stupid :helpsmilie: after maybe 5 seconds it tells me that its copying the files from the current DCS Folder.... Thank you again and excuse my stupidity :D Regards Griffon26 Edited September 7, 2015 by Griffon26 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Never parachute into an area you've just bombed You never have too much fuel, unless you burn. Justificus
...EDIT: God im stupid... You think that's stupid. I downloaded the open beta and created a shortcut to it and tried to run it. Only got a black screen, no sound, no splash screen, just hanging on a black screen. So I decide to nuke it completely and just copy over my release version and then have that one update to the beta. Copied it over, tried to run it, same thing. Black screen. Came on here and searched. Didn't find anything relevant to my situation. Was about to post on the forum for help when this little dim light bulb went off in my head. Looked at the .exe my shortcut was pointing to in the openbeta folder and then compared it to my release version... Yup, dummy me pointed it to the DCS.exe and not the launcher.exe... Still feeling a bit stupid for that one... :D Justificus System Specs:i7 4970K @ 4.8, GTX 1080 SC, 32GB G.Skill DDR 2133,Thermaltake Level 10 Full Tower Case, Noctua NH-D15 6 Cooler, Win 10 Pro, Warthog, CH Pro Pedals, CH Throttle Quadrant, Oculus, 1 32" & 2 19" Monitors Modules Owned: A-10C I+II, Ka-50, FC3, F-86, Mig-15, Mig21, UH-1H, Mi-8, CA, P-51D, BF-109K-4, FW-190 D-9, Hawk, NTTR, M-2000C, SA342, F-5E, Spit Mk. Im glad im not the only one :D Can you tell me step by step how to get the OB installer to convert my main installation to the OB? Well Im not Blooze but ill give it a try ;) Downlaod the DCSW Beta from here http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/world/ Run the exe, agree to all and it will start to "download" files. In a few seconds it will tell you, that its actually copiyng files from, for example, C:/Program Files/Eagle... that should be all I think. its running currently by me so it should work that way. EDIT (again): Current Beta version should be 1.2.16.43180.9 if im right. Thats what it has downloaded at the end. Regards Griffon26 Edited September 7, 2015 by Griffon26 Grammar... SDsc0rch
There is plenty of info available on EOS systems no difference to radar implementation. The comparison with missile performance is a strange one to make, sounds more like grasping at straws to make a point. not at all the performance of the EO/IRST system in DCS is quite simply over-modeled to start with, there is no argument whatsoever from the staff that the atmosphere in use is ideal/perfect - and that right there is unrealistic and EO/IR systems performance are highly dependent on atmospherics performance in haze, cloud, dust etc should suffer degradation - as well as low-alt vs high-alt - similarly looking up-sun vs down-sun and day vs night all i'm requesting (respectfully) is for similar rigorous attention to detail be paid to the EO/IR systems as with the radar missiles i think overall DCS would be improved ----- we would have to operate with sensor performance in mind tactics! i'm confused - how is that a bad thing? isn't that what we come to DCS for?? i7-4790K | Asus Sabertooth Z97 MkI | 16Gb DDR3 | EVGA GTX 980 | TM Warthog | MFG Crosswind | Panasonic TC-58AX800U [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Avimimus
not at all the performance of the EO/IRST system in DCS is quite simply over-modeled [....] and EO/IR systems performance are highly dependent on atmospherics Of course, it is worth noting that atmospheric conditions can also boost the performance of IR missiles as well. With high altitude night time conditions it should be possible for the R-27T to acquire a target at several times the usual range. Even the R-40T could acquire targets at around 40km under such ideal conditions. So, yes, modelling the interaction with the atmosphere would be wonderful!
awjudge
Had a look around, couldn't find anything on this... Does anyone know if DCS 1.5 will still require a GPU to run a dedicated server? If so, will the specs of the GPU need to be higher than they are now?
Blooze
A server machine doesn't require a GPU now so I don't see any reason that would change for 1.5. I run a server that has a GT 630 but have 3D rendering diabled because it is not needed to host a mission. We will eventually be getting a dedicated server option, I am sure it will be similar to most dedicated servers out there, that said, we havent seen much info on it. They are very aware of what people dont like about hosting right now, I am sure it will be a much improved way of getting servers up for all. SkateZilla
Can you tell me step by step how to get the OB installer to convert my main installation to the OB? Copy N Paste your /DCS/ Folder, Open CMD Prompt from 2nd DCS Folder /Bin/ Folder run: dcs_updater.exe update openbeta place dcs_variant.txt in the beta's main /DCS/ Folder, inside the txt just put "beta" (w/o quotes) -This will make a Saved Games/DCS.beta/ folder. Copy any inputs from the original saved games folder. Done, OB and Stable independant. awjudge
Thanks Sithspawn, appreciated. @Blooze, you do need a GPU unfortunately. Agreed, in the settings you disable 3D rendering, but the server won't actually start at all if there's no GPU present. It's weird.
domini99
I use Steam, and I have bought all my modules on steam. If I select "enter beta program" in the games properties, will it have the same effect as downloading the beta for DCS Standalone? Or can't I use the beta? Yes, I'm not using the steam version but as far as I know it would be the same. john_X
The DCS World 1.5 was announced to be released along the L-39 module, in the first half of this month, i read it somewhere in the "official updates" section. Since the L-39 has been already released, when is DCS World 1.5 going to be out, or it is already? Is the L-39 beta using the old DCS World?
