So in the second picture that Silver_Dragon posted, wags said that it extended even more than that, was that a mistake or does it really go out that far in each direction?

He said the western side of the map now reaches the California coast and LA (!), but the mesh and textures are really low-res. Really just put in place so that you see something if you are at high-altitude and not the "edge of the world".

Maybe some day it will reach south the San Diego...in a high/med res...in the late 80s or early 90s :D.

Both NAS Fallon and NAF El Centro are now within the map, maybe the NTTR map will someday become a really big map - if we are lucky! :) I keep hoping for more USN stuff in the future!

Worth mentioning that 46 GB is the size of the NTTR map:music_whistling:

Time to get an SSD, I guess.

Just be glad you only have to install 1 - 2 builds, some of us need a lot more HDD space :P

Lucky for me 1TB SSHD's are a good price at the moment :)

Wags tell after release, the NTTR map gain updates with textures, resolution mesh and airbases (Tonopa Airbase has count) and the south part of the map with the National training center (Fort Irwin) to use with Combined arms training / mission and Campaing. Other parts has the Sant George Airport and zone (11:14)

One thing I was impressed with in this last stream is the faster launch times with elements of a flight. A 2-ship launch is a less common thing in the current USAF, so it's a staggered departure, and the AI seem to be closer to actually performing that to a more realistic standard.

Watching the NTTR live stream today I was wondering what all of the tower cranes were doing scattered around the map in places where you would be hard pressed to find a building over two stories tall... was a bit distracting. I hope they are stand in objects for something.

Truly superior pilots are those that use their superior judgment to avoid those situations where they might have to use their superior skills.

If you ever find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

I'm honestly just hoping we get the coastline outside of the map so we can place a carrier out there.

Yes, this was very good to see and could be one of the biggest things impacting mission building. The current launch times are just too long. The aircraft in the stream were lining up on the runway before the previous plane left the ground.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

Did the frequent loading pauses made it into the live stream recording or is it my sucky wi-fi doing that? If from the actual stream then perhaps prerecord a session then upload to youtube would make for a more enjoyable experience?

Aside from that, the terrain is breathtaking. Caucasus be gone.

I'm watching the recording and there are a bunch of them. Hmm.

Since i have a shabby connection, I had to pause video for a while to let it buffer up to something usable.

Well, I guess it's on my end since I'm not the only one with pauses. Thanks, peep.

Nevada would be around 24GB

http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2424460&postcount=4

Just a clarification note from the stream: I mentioned that the NTTR map was around 46 GB. In fact, because my internal version that is linked through our svn file system essentially duplicates the files, the actual size of the map when it is released will be more around 24 GB.

SSDs rejoice!

Thanks

Will there be a release date announced for DCS World 2 or will it just be released when it is ready with no notice?

On the mission editor during the last stream I saw a lot of blue icons for presumably all the aircraft on the various ramps etc. Can you find out for us Sith if there will be a template for bringing the airports to life? :)

There are already scripts to add ambient air traffic to the environment, there is no reason to doubt that the scripting language won't carry over to DCSW2
