Even though I'm madly in love with both the WWII era aircraft of DCS and IL2, and the modern day aircraft of DCS and BMS (especially the upcoming Super Hornet!!!), the reason I'd love a Vietnam War era flight sim is because there isn't really any good Nam sims out there. The only Vietnam flight sim I own is Strike Fighters 2 and even though it's a lot of fun, it's a really bad sim (If you know about any better ones, please tell me!). And from what I've seen when it comes to EDGE it seems as if DCS 2.0 will be able to feature a lot more detailed environments. Just imagine the forests, the rice paddys and the deep, deep valleys. Seeing the smoke rising from the LZ in the distance as you hit the safety switch to your napalm. No fancy TGP's, no GBU's, no AMRAAM's etc. I'm getting all juicy in my pants just thinking about it...

-Col. Russ Everts opinion on surface-to-air missiles: "It makes you feel a little better if it's coming for one of your buddies. However, if it's coming for you, it doesn't make you feel too good, but it does rearrange your priorities."

Even though I chose ww2 I would say. Other. Any fighter plane from ww2 to present day that the teams can get their hands on to make the best version of that plane they can make as true to life as they can will make any plane fan happy.

The quality and amount of time you can spend with each plane is outstanding.

Had to vote for late cold war because I just gotta have the Hind :matrix: Though WW2 would be awesome too...

The DCS Mi-8MTV2. The best aviational BBW experience you could ever dream of.

Another vote for cold war heavy metal aircraft...

Lightning, Bucc, Phantom, Thud, Fitter, Mirage, Flogger, Starfighter, Delta Dart, Draken, Gino, Skyhawk, Viggen, Harrier, Voodoo

I don't have a specfic era i prefer, though helicopters are really my goto type of airframe. It is the type of missions that make the difference for me.

See, i'm not much of a fighter pilot or really enjoy engaging others in combat, though i do like the occasional duel in the skies. I'd fly ground attack or even better: logistics! Just let me supply the airbase or farp warehouse with stuff in a persistent online enviroment to ensure its operational status, do some CSAR or insertions/extractions, you know, as long as it has some usable cargo space and gives the satisfaction of pulling such missions off while operating utility and cargo airframes in a combat enviroment.

If i have to give a timeframe i'd prefer to be able to do this in it would be from vietnam to the end of the cold war.

Late cold war period (late 70's - early 90's) & present age

L'importante non è stabilire se uno ha paura o meno, è saper convivere con la propria paura e non farsi condizionare dalla stessa. Ecco, il coraggio è questo, altrimenti non è più coraggio ma incoscienza.

my favourite era has always been WWII propellers & warbirds.

but ..

but ..

with FC3 , Su 27 F-15.... i like it. the way you can quickly climb it is awesome. but i dont really enjoy dogfighting with radar and missiles.

some aircraft i don't really point on it but which is a very very good surprise thanks to ED & partners who make me discover it ... and now inlove with:

Huey & Mi-8 & F-86

I don't like so much ( for now ) A10C M21 bis, but unfact that I'm still on holidays, I have not yet enough time to go in those cockpit, study it, and get inlove with. But sure I'll do it in 2015, step by step.

I vote for present age but love aircraft from the mid 60's onwards. I'd kill for an F-117 :joystick: I hope they introduce EW and 5th gen aircraft even tho if they have to speculate on their abilities (none of us wouldn't know the difference anyway). If I had millions I'd pay the devs from my own pocket to make such aircraft :D

90ies to present... of course any era has its charmes and iconic aircrafts, yet I started flight simming in earnest with EF 2000 (and that was the first time I saw a clickable cockpit!).

So for me the modern planes keep a sentimental childhood dream. :smilewink:

I can't wait for VEAO to get the Eurofighter Typhoon out the door!

To me: Late cold war era. 3rd and 4th generation combat aircrafts have the perfect balance between manouvering, complex avionics and joy!

For me 50's to 70's are best fighters!

No need after fighters too much laws and lack of data.
