Kilrah Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) Alright, new rule, swedes shall not mention the words Viggen, A, J, AJ, 37, J, 35. Yeah sure I also suggest that includes americans not allowed to talk about: F18 F16 F104 F106 V-22 Osprey A-6 P40 OA-10 F-14 and so on... Hook47 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) Alright listen guys, I did some head scratching and I found out that you guys left out an obvious candidate, the F104G. Why? It has "Upgraded avionics included a new Autonetics NASARR F15A-41B radar with air-to-air and ground mapping modes, the Litton LN-3 Inertial Navigation System (the first on a production fighter), and an infrared sight." 1122 of these aircraft were produced. It was the type most numerously produced. It was used by many countries from the west and played a crucial role for a cheap fast capable aircraft. It's the F104G, I bet my life on it! Pere Mehhh.... No thanks, I'll take the Viggen anyday. That thing is only noteworthy for getting smacked around by fishbeds IIRC The F-10-4 was easily one of the biggest POSes ever to serve in USAF service. It was a death trap. Killed over 100 pilots in the German Air Force alone and got smacked around in every engagement. Like the saying goes- "if you want a F-104, just buy a piece of land and wait..." It would get murdered in DCS by everything but WW2 aircraft, and even those may stand a good chance of surviving since the 104 pilot may very well get off'd by his plane before even getting to the fight. BravoYankee4 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Alright, new rule, swedes shall not mention the words Viggen, A, J, AJ, 37, J, 35. Ok, no problem. DRAKEN, TUNNAN, LANSEN :music_whistling: Any of them would be like x-mas for me.
OnlyforDCS Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 How about some F-106 love from Leatherneck? Beautiful plane. I would love to see "The Six" as it was affectionately called in the game, even though we lack proper GCI implementation which would be a must for an interceptor like this. Ever heard of the Cornfield Bomber? Read up about this funny story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornfield_Bomber  Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Bogey Jammer Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Early cold war interceptors are way too boring, just launch a stupid genie and go home… A B-58 or similar penetration bomber would be much more challenging and interactive. Manage you crew, your flight pattern, complex avionics, procedures for nuke delivery, ECM, enemy SAM and interceptors dodging, terrain following, etc… I'll buy : МиГ-23МЛД & МЛА МиГ-27К МиГ-25 Mirage III F-4E any IJ plane 1950' Korea Dynamic campaign module
Grundar Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 You bet your life on the Widowmaker? Heh. Now that's what I call irony. lmao was thinking the same thing. I would love to see a Viggen, would love a Drakken more - Leatherneck will produce something wonderful though, of all the third party devs these guys seem to produce the highest quality (Mig 21 is a wonderful module)

Good god.. I better stop doing ground attack in the MiG-21. Because god forbid using the aircraft dependant on the situation.

TomOnSteam Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 Well, "plenty" implies the correct amount :) My grandma got west nile virus and got over it really quickly because of 50 gram IV's and then taking a few grams of lypospheric vitamin C every day  Anyways, glad Nick is feeling better! Yeah sorry I forgot I was on a sensible part of the internet :) I'm just used to spelling things out in other forums hah! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cockpit Spectator Mode

Spectrum Legacy Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 It's the F104G, I bet my life on it! Pere I saw F-104 on the European fixed wing wishlist, it surprised me a bit. If it was on the American wishlist instead, I would have something to vote for, because everything else is too modern for me there. So not a bad choice imo, despite I don't know that much about G version and I would love more those Saabs or earlier Mirages, definitely wouldn't condemn you for mentioning the Starfighter ;) I have a hunch, you know, that it will be something unconventional... So anyone mentioned the glider on steroids, the greatest easter-poweregg Me-163 Komet already? Sent from my pComputer using Keyboard
Cletust8 Posted November 30, 2015 Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) I think it's an AN-2... its' advanced propulsion features are its' ability to fly in reverse in a stiff wind, and a drunk Eastern European with a pencil and a legal pad can do some mighty fine terrain mapping Edited November 30, 2015 by Cletust8
Farlander Posted November 30, 2015 Author Posted November 30, 2015 Well, that's why I put the word EARLY, because the MiG-21bis looks more like a tactical fighter/ ambush interceptor, than a GCI driven supersonic aircraft flying at high altitude carrying one or two missiles without gun. Well, put it like this... I would much rather fly a interceptor/fighter intercepting targets to shoot down, than flying a slow bomber dropping a few bombs here and there and go home to re-arm. Im only reacting to how you made the whole interceptor role seem like it consists of 3 steps. I can do the same about ground attack 1. fly slow, 2. drop bomb, 3. go home. I get that you would enjoy a bomber more, and trust me.. i would like one too. However being completely ignorant, stating "Early cold war interceptors are way too boring, just launch a stupid genie and go home…" is stupid... sorry for the rant.. i would love the B-58 anyways
