It's just news guys not a whole module so don't stress too much cause news are digested quickly and you will feel hunger again :D .

Is not the first time when news are getting after the given date. Then think of it this way... if some one promises you to give you a waffle... in 6 months... What does it look like if after 6 months you are counting seconds for that single waffle? LOL, right?

Most probably they want to sync with ED on 1.5 announcements. It is silence all over. BST also said nothing for quite a while and they used to say some things about the Mi-8 updates from time to time.

Just relax and play the Mig in the Blue Flag Campaign which is uber!

I dont think this facebook page is anything official, is it ?

No, look at their posts, just random screenshots.

Not random. All the pictures are either screen shots from DCS or are pictures of aircraft in DCS (there are pictures of mods too, again things in DCS).

The only other aircraft that have posted pictures and are not in DCS are the A-7 and F-14, both of which seem to be in development for DCS.

THe pic is definitely not anything official, but I also doubt that it is random.

Any post appear on that FB page is completely inconsequential as far future DCS releases go. Page is an unofficial fan page (but sort of acts like they're official) and they don't know more than we do.

For ED news or clues, only fb page that matters is the "Eagle Dynamics" one. Also, respective pages of VEAO, Leatherneck Simulations and Belsimtek. Though, Belsimtek's page doesn't really seem active.

Guys, are you guessing that the next aircraft will be the Corsair? World War 2 aircraft? ohh please.. I love them but we need modern fighters or something like that.. there are aircrafts I would love to fly in DCS.. Tigercat.. F9F-8 Cougar and others.. but DCS needs more modern fighters like F/A-18.. or Su-30.. my friend is following this announcement and he said the Leatherneck would announce the planes yesterday.. is there any date to announce them? I wanted a supersonic fighter/bomber/air-to-ground aircraft to DCS.. When the Leatherneck will announce them??

Hints so far point to two aircraft most likely being :

- Corsair or perhaps Hellcat

- SAAB Viggen

Looks like an awesome proposition to me and I hope they are indeed them, but that is just what community have arrived at following hints Cobra and Rudel put over a period of months. We may be complelety wrong and they may be something else as well, but those look quite probable right now.

As for we needing modern aircraft, well... nobody really needing anything, it's more like "we want". We have some WW II aircraft, but not really that much, and more the merrier. F-18, Mirage 2000 and Eurofighter are 3 4th gen fighters coming from various studios already, Leatherneck themselves gave us the MiG-21, giving us the F-14, and if predictions are true, also the Viggen. So we'll need to wait some more but, in a neither too close, nor too distant future DCS will have many many options from either 40ies or post 70s, and then some in between :).

With visibility issues, I admit DCS gunzo dogfights can get difficult, well... even boring at times, but hopefully by the end of September we'll already have a solution for that in DCS 1.5 with EDGE :).

Although I hope new modules won't have much in the way of "gameplay concessions". Those are probably my only gripes with MiG-21, which is otherwise my favorite of all modules I have :).

I haven't taken the time to look through this thread to check if it's been discussed, but Cobra's current avatar, a black sheep (it's one of the top images when you search Google Images for "black sheep"), most likely is a nod toward VMA-214, the Black Sheep. They've flown:

F4F Wildcat (1942)

F4U Corsair (1943–53)

F9F Panther (1953)

F2H Banshee (1953–57)

FJ Fury (1957–62)

Why do you think the Viggen will be one of the chosen??

Can't remember any clue about it... but I clearly remember a WW II carrier and a kamikaze flag in one of LN's newsletters....

Maybe the black sheep means a F4U and the kamikaze flag means a zero :smilewink:

There was an interview where someone asked Cobra if the next module was the Tomcat, and he responded with the duck test. Duck happens to be one of the nicknames for the Viggen. I think it is more of a coincidence than a hint, but the Viggen does have a ground radar which was also hinted at. Considering that three of the team members are Swedes, it is certainly plausible. Might have missed that part!

But i'm still convinced, and honestly hope that LN will release the F4U and the zero with WWII carrier ops.

Zéro+corsair with ww2 carrier ops would be very interesting and a self container game within dcs with just a few AI units. A sensible choice if you ask me! And leatherneck seems to have very well understood that player want aircraft that can fit into its own playing field...

F-16

I would absolutely LOVE an F-16, but by the hints that have been given, I completely doubt it. The part of "New or unique methods of propulsion or force distribution" tells me its not :(

However, I'm pretty sure I will end up happy with what aircraft comes up anyways.

I'm leaning towards the Viggen, with it's ground radar and ability to reverse, considering the statement "New or unique methods of propulsion or force distribution". Either AJ37 or AJS37 variant.

many of the F-14s' systems are possibly simpler than one of our unannounced aircraft, but there is simply more – and that takes time.

Both of the other two project in advanced development are currently slated for release before the F-14. We hope to release both of those this year. More information will be available around late August.

that's he said before...

so one of unannouncement project is more complex than f-14, take less time and will be released earlier then it?

I could not understand it well, and didn't catch the points.

LOL

I'm quite sure that we won't need 350-400 pages of manual for WWII-era aircraft. They, also did mention that the avionic is more complex than that of MiG-21, so I'm expecting it will be a modern aircraft. :D
