That looks excellent! That is Heli-TOW mountings on the side i think? Are you actually considering implementing that weapon system as well? / Implementing the Hkp 9 as a variant in the module?

If so, im gonna have to buy it as its the only offensive capable helicopter Sweden ever operated. :joystick:

Yes, these are TOWs....Unfortunatly, we have no info on how the weaponsystem works. I have some pictures of the cockpit, where I saw that the weaponsystem usage seams to be the same as in the HOT version.

Yeah i would imagine that they would operate very simiilarly, but if you don't have any information on it im guessing it will not be implemented? Can't wait to fly it in Swedish colours with or without TOW's.

What i do know about it is this:

Two Swedish museums have them on display with HeliTOW system's attached to them. That would be Aeroseum in Gothenburg and Flygvapenmuseum in Linköping (that one is suspended from the roof however) I would assume the missiles themselves are dummys (duh) but i wouldn't be suprised if all the guidance equipment was still intact and they more then likely have manuals too. Flygvapenmuseum (Swedish Air Force Museum) should also have a few more examples stockpiled and not on display.

http://www.aeroseum.se/

http://www.flygvapenmuseum.se/

I could not find any resources for manuals on the helicopter or the weapon system itself anywhere on the internet but i did find some half decent reference photos from the late 90s.

Having a HKP9 module in DCS would be awesome.

The TOW missile used was RBS55H, almost the same as the land based RB55. It is based on the BGM-71 TOW - and for that one there should be plenty of information.

The land based models had both normal optics and IR. The helicopter optics was developed in Sweden (Saab) and was some kind of (gyro?) stabilized. According to some forum posts I found there was also some tests with IR optics but never fully deployed. So the helo needed good weather...

The variants for RB55 are:

Sweden NATO

RB 55B ITOW

RB 55C TOW2

RB 55D TOW2A

RB 55E TOW2B

The upgrades was larger warheads, extedend probes, new engine, and the last version had multiple warheads and top-down capability (the shaped charge is hitting the roof/top of the target).

I we can get enough info on the tow system we can see what we can do and if the roof/top down function would be possibile to be programmed too

Maybe someone who worked with this weapon can pm us and we can talk through it and see what we can do.

That is the only suggestion for the TOW at the moment.

You guys should contact the Arboga Robotmuseum:

http://www.robotmuseum.se/Mappar/0T/index_t.html

They have knowledge about systems used and a collection of robots.

Hi guys,

Today I finished the TOW Launcher of the HKP-9A.

I would like to say Thank you to Jörgen Toll for taking me photos from the museum and getting me the measurments of the Launcher.

Also a big Thank you to Bryan Draves for helping me on the details.

Fantastic! That's some seriously nice 3D work. Day 1 purchase, obviously. This together with the AJS 37 will suddenly let us do some pretty convincing Swede stuff!

Just out of curiousity: should it really say LASING over the locking device and not LASNING? Locking in Swedish is Låsning. Or perhaps it is referring to something else?

Awesome news! Definite buy.

Since "Fallning/Release" and "Armering/Recoking" is swedish I also guess on "Lasning/Locking"

However, "Armering" means "Armed" so what does "recoking" means?
