Yes, but that was two years ago, and to what extent that update will be is still unclear. Will it just be an update of graphics, or will the MiG-21bis finally get a significant upgrade in terms of systems and realism? And yes, I know this is the Corsair forum, but since only this part of the M3 forum seems to get the attention lately, I'm asking here.

I don't don't think we can expect any info on that untill/if the Corsair is released and even then who knows. Mag3 ain't exactly good at telling their customer/potential customers much.

I hope that is because they are such a small team and that will improve if the Corsair is a success.

I said what I said, and my point stands. I wish heatblur would have taken the Corsair with them along with the f-14. The results speak for themselves. 2 modern jet avionic aircraft with complex radar and flight systems released. M3.... Well, we all know how that story went. Shame that the most iconic Pacific WW2 fighter didn't get the love it could have had.

Mind you, If they really wanted it, they would've taken it during the split.

Looking at their roadmap and following interviews afterwards, guys who formed Heatblur simply aren't interested in piston-powered planes, so that "what if" scenario would never work anyway.

Whether we like it or not, most of 3rd parties in DCS want to make and sell jets on this platform. Even Flyingiron guys came here to build a jet rather than port over their neat collection of MSFS warbirds.

I'm a little surprised that Magnitude3 hasn't made any communication on the Corsair this month, I thought it would communicate updates every 6 months maybe in the next few days?

The truth is that it creates some uncertainty so much hermetism. Let's hope that everything goes well and we can have the plane someday and that everything is going well.

Maybe simply nobody is working at the F4U currently, thus there is nothing to report. From the erratic periods of frequent updates in the past and long draughts in between, it seems the devs are doing this part time as a passion project, whenever they find the time.

The original team were 4 people when the MiG-21 was released: Michael Carter II (AKA “-Rudel-”), Nicholas Dackard (AKA “Cobra847”), Novak Djordjijevic (AKA “Dolphin887”) and Radu Manole (AKA “Roland”). Later Cobra left with some new hirings when they split into heatlblur and M3L. Thereafter, for a few years, Hiromachi joined them as researcher and community manager. Their previous FM coder Dolphin887 was/or still is an active duty pilot in the Serbian airforce. A position which I doubt left him much spare time for DCS development. Now we indeed only see Rudel as the last active member of the original team, but they hired an new aerodynamics engineer this February, thus there should be at least 2 devs now.

Let's hope that 2025 will finally be the year of release of the F4u Corsair, personally I think that for M3 the Crosair will not be released in 2024. 🙂

So say we all. Let's hope we won't have to celebrate the 10th anniversary of this thread.

I think there'll be a 15th anniversary. ED allows anyone and everyone to announce a module with no clear path on development or release date. If there is this level of unaccontability, where do I sign up? I should go announce the F-22 Raptor since it is 27yrs old now. By release it will be 40yrs old. I think I'm pretty safe, wdyt?
