If it's going to be an early release, I've never actually participated in those, is there a time frame you have to buy it by before it goes away?

There's usualy a preorder period of few weeks or a month, when there is a small price discount. Once it's released, it doesnt go away. :)

So, RAZBAM is in fact on schedule, but now it is up to ED (and RAZBAM to provide fixes to ed) weither the Harrier gets released this month or the next.

Not on the one that was told to public, if you can call that a schedule.

Sounds like it's still a month or two away.

Can't be sure of that until the 1st of Oct. But to be honest, that's just about how developing anything goes. At least when you put quality in front of keeping schedule. ;)

DCS: AV-8B Night Attack by RAZBAM Update

This past week was an important milestone for RAZBAM’s AV-8B NA as it entered internal testing. Over the next several weeks, the module will be de-bugged, tuned, and added to in order to bring it to being available for pre-purchase and then its Early Access release.

So the ball is in ED's court. Although RAZBAM delivered on time it's really up to ED now.

So much for the hype.

When I saw the harrier on the banner at the top of the weekly update I thought YES! I kept reading and thought *Sigh* Oh!

Nothing like telling us what we already know!

Depends on, how many bugs they find and how fast RAZBAM can solve them!

one question about this image :

I have noticed that the heat blur effect is directed to the back of the plane, but the nozzles are set vertically... is this a limit of DCS where the effect can't be fixed to a moving part (the nozzles) so can change the direction when the nozzles rotate or is a WIP and can be done?

ED have to test it, and that starts when they get it. It would at some point go to the ED tester team (who generally go quiet, or have more smileys in their conversations than usual ;) )

Just read the update that ED put out in email. They stated in the next several weeks Razbam will be making final tests. I for one am a little disappointed. I know that Razbam are doing their best for us to have a great product, but that puts us mid December.....head drop again...just my 2 cents...

Good finding, finch. I hope that is not a limitation of the DCS engine.

I understand that, but think about it, if it will take several weeks till the module is released, the final quality of the module will be better, because if you release the module now, it will be full of bugs (I assume or maybe not, but it will have bugs for sure), and people will complain about the module being released to early.

Not sure about y'll but I don't mind a few weeks more, I want to have good experiences with the module instead of waiting for new patches to come out because the module was released too early.

Let's 'give' them a few weeks more, I don't like waiting but sometimes it's necessary!

Good finding, finch. I hope that is not a limitation of the DCS engine.

That's up to ED. I don't think RAZBAM has control over that.

I just don't get how a bunch of you are all over this saying "disappointed, Harrier won't be out untill x months away"...

ED said "several weeks". Why? Because they do not yet know how much more work needs to be put in by RAZBAM for the module to be ready. If they said "A couple of weeks" even that would be too specific... if they said "a couple of months" that again would be too specific.

Remember, ED only had this to test this week. They don't know how many bugs and tweaks this will take. If there are less bugs than anticipated and/or RAZBAM can fix them fast, the "several weeks" might as well turn out to be one or two weeks.

Unless something goes truly wrong - which is possible, I'm not denying that - the Harrier is coming shortly. RAZBAM has no control over ED:s policies for quality, so they've done the best they can, which is to provide the aircraft to ED for review. And there still is 15 days left of Q3 and you are talking about december?

If you are referring to the DCS-curse that ED has been struggling with over the last years, that is a different thing. That is ED, not RAZBAM. For example, the new Caucasus, or 2.5 were tentatively hinted to be coming out at time X. Oh, they did not. In contrast, RAZBAM has stated numerous times over the last 2 months that they are on schedule. Now they have delivered to ED - on schedule. This is not about VEAO and the Hawk or P-40. The project has been shown to progress constantly.

I don't know about you, but I'm a bit tired this teen-age angst that when a thing doesn't happen exactly at the second it is expected people just throw the towel to the corner and bust open a can of ice-cream.

Harrier was planned to be released on Q3. Never promised it would make it. "Planned" being the key word here.

Thanks, I feel better now. The Harrier is coming, within a reasonable time from the revealed schedule, and in my eyes, RAZBAM has already delivered.

I'm neither a teenager nor full of angst (well I wasn't last time I checked). Neither would I presume to speak on behalf of others or try and generalise other people’s thoughts and concerns...

What I would say is that my personal disappointment at the current state of release (or lack there of) is more to do with Prowlers recent comments that I -no one else- but I interpreted as signalling an imminent release.

It’s possible that others too may have read too much into his very cryptic comments which if you read back I think you would have to agree was signalling something that clearly has not come to pass. Also, it's possible that delays have come from ED and RAZBAM were unsighted on it and were "hyping" in good faith, who knows?

Either way it’s not the end of the world, no one’s died, there are a lot bigger badder things in life to worry about, but if you find yourself this upset by people posting their thoughts maybe you should give this thread a bit of a rest for a bit?

Agreed. You will always find some level of displeasure posted from to time. Can't really ever recall joy being expressed of having to wait for an open ended number of weeks. I will just say chalk it up as another lesson learned about expectations here. Keep them low so you won't get upset when you get news similar to this. And that's not to say this is bad news. It's just a missed curve ball.
