Add a few airports to the NTTR map

Hi devs,

yesterday we saw the Yucca airstrip in DCS 2.0. In the mission editor, there are some other airports, such as the Tonopah Airbase. But ingame, there is only a low res texture - no airbase at all. Are there any plan to add some more airports/ airbases in the Nevada map?

ramp start positions Nellis AFB

There are only 5 or 6 slots for heavy aircraft at Nellis. If I look via google maps, there are some C-130 placed on the north-west ramp. Could you add some more slots, please?

best regards,

Fire

Personally, I think having a low detail airfield for low/medium detail portions of the map (and future ones!) would be great.

Perhaps something like an open parking ramp and a runway, would be nice for mission design, you could have certain units (e.g tankers and A-10s) start way out there, while say F-15s start at Nellis, just for example.

NTTR Other Airports

Hello all, sorry if this was already mentioned.

I'm not sure if it's just an installation issue or the fact that the NTTR is still in alpha, but I only get four airports. McCarran, Nellis, Creech and Groom Lake. There are many others around Vegas and the NTTR.

Flying over Tonopah for example, I can see the sattelite image of the airport, but there is no 'actual' airport there.

Is this just a bug on my installation or something that is being planned for the future?

The NTTR is just amazing, and it would be amazing if the Black Sea map could get some of the features too :)

The Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) has the largest contiguous air and ground space available for peacetime military operations in the free world. The NTTR land area includes simulated air defense systems, mock airbases, and several target ranges. The NTTR was also used for nuclear testing. Today, it is home to RED FLAG and other military exercises that include countries from around the world. The NTTR map for DCS World 2 includes Nellis AFB, Creech AFB and the infamous Groom Lake AFB (aka Area 51). This map also includes the city of Las Vegas, McCarran International Airport, and Hoover Dam.

I'm pretty sure Wags said it's a possibility they'll add more content in future, but I wouldn't count on it...

There are quite a few different airfields on the map that aren't modeled, however, there is an airfield northwest of Creech for about 20nmi that is modeled but isn't marked.

Its also a pain to land on, because its shorter than Gelendzhik, I think.

There's also a small unmarked strip in the middle of Mesquite, East of Nellis AFB.

There is a possibility to add Fallon? I have flying over the boundaries of the nevada terrain and the place where the real navy airfield is icluded on the map.

There is a separate thread on developing scenery add-ins. ATC is still a work in progress according to Wags, and will be getting a big makeover.

There are a limited number of airfields in the map at present, yes. Probably because they wanted to get it to a release version, and also to keep the file size down. Tonopah is already earmarked for development, and there is no reason to suspect that more won't follow at some point.

3rd party developers have been invited to participate, and I suspect we'll see new maps, and also current maps developed further, so I don't for a moment think you're seeing anything resembling the final iteration of NTTR right now.

F/A-18 and NAS Fallon

Hopefully when the F/A-18 is released we'll see the Naval airbase Fallon in all its glory added to the Nevada map, not only would this be an awesome module related addition but would also expand multiplayer options immensely to get the most out of the already fantastic Nevada terrain.

30 miles from nowhere, 2 feet from Hell! (and I have the T-shirt to prove it)

Sounds like a great idea. I would love to tack that onto the existing map, work it west for Lake Tahoe and Reno.

But putting the Bird Farm in town is a must. ;)

Ah yes, Fallon.

Have some fond memories of NAS Fallon.:( Went there with our A-4 squadrons for ordinance practice. On one tour I actually got to work with the 'ordy" guys belting 20mm and loading HVAR's into the pods. Also remember the "rules' if one went into town. It seems Fallon had one main drag (street). On one side were some casinos, bars, and other attractive venues. On the other were the theater, library, and a cafe or two. The "rules" were, that if you were not 21 years of age, you could NOT set foot on the "sin side" of that street and were relegated to the "soul saving" side. Shore Patrol made sure one was where they were supposed to be:music_whistling:. Of course the pilots all went to Reno and had a grand old time.:pilotfly:

+1 for Henderson and N. Las Vegas airport, but the added detail may bog down fps.

Could it be an abandoned airfield? From long ago?

Maybe you could check google maps/world in that location and check the satellite view.
