Rocky49 Posted July 17, 2017 Posted July 17, 2017 No way could I got back to monitor and Track IR, loving my Rift too much. Me too! Had an issue with my rift in June and could not use it, tried going back to TR5. It is terrible after the freedom of VR. hansangb Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Am I the only one who loves the Rift and VR in general but find it more difficult to play DCS seriously with it. Things like keyboard commands, 9 line briefs are a PITA to deal with with the Rift on. I think I'm going back to my TIR 5 and save the Rift for other VR games and less serious flying in DCS. It's harder. I think a lot of us compensate with full hotas (that's a given) but also with a real kneeboard. You can jot things down peeking through the bridge of the nose. And finally giving commands through voiceattack/vaicom. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
witwas Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 If you fly helos (like i do most of the time) there is no going back. landing spot on becomes child play. I can now even fly backwards like i have done nothing else in my life. Had to use screens + trackir again because i got stuck in a mission (not able to fly in smoke with vr). I crashed several times
giei Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 How to hide the VR small cyan cross? I'm flying since 1988 (Flight Simulator 3.0) :pilotfly:
hansangb Posted July 19, 2017 Posted July 19, 2017 You can check the "use mouse" in the UI layer, IIRC. The UI layer is in the drop down box in the control setup menu. The same drop down you use to pick which airplane you wan to modify (the controls). UI layer is at the bottom of that list. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Colmillo Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Hello everyone, I am a new user of Oculus Rift, and I'm looking for a good advice to configure this wonderful piece of art. I'm change all the parameter, but it's seems that nothing happens, and I see the cockpits same as High resolution or VR (in DCS configurations). Does anybody find the correct parameters in nvidia and in the DCS worlds? hansangb Posted July 22, 2017 Posted July 22, 2017 Are you saying that when you click on the VR preset, it goes back to something else? hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
Colmillo Posted July 23, 2017 Posted July 23, 2017 Are you saying that when you click on the VR preset, it goes back to something else? No, I am trying to say if I click VR or HIGH preset, I dont see any difference. A few moments ago I tryed Oculus Tray Tool, and I cannot see difference at all, maybe I am not using all the settings in a proper way, for that reason I am asking for help, I think that there are a lot of pilots whose spend hours of hours (like me) and one of them catch the right configiguration. Cibit Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 (edited) @ Colmillo The Nvidia software wont affect DCS visuals with the rift. Leave them to default. Also MSAA causes problems of low FPS with this latest build. It is difficult to get smooth and pretty gameplay with 2.1 until we see more optomisation. The new 1.5.7 on the other hand is looking a lot nicer and allows more eye candy for less performance hit. This is purely my perspective on it though and if possible try to tweak the settings until you get a satisfactory experience. Still cannot go back to 2d whatever the limitations are currently. FYI I use the VR preset for 2.1 and crank most stuff to high, max or ultra in 1.5.7 and a Pixel density of 1.5 for both builds Edited July 24, 2017 by Cibit i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

aceviper Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 Just had another "wow holy sh***t" moment in the rift after the free flight night in the Huey.dcs1.57 :megalol: The only downside is the washed out sky and banding. What do you guys use for contrast/brightness/gamma adjustment in the rift?? Or can these be adjusted at all in VR??
Cibit Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 I plugged my monitor into the HDMI slot replacing the rift cable. Then there is an option available in the Nvidia control panel whereby you can adjust Digital vibrance and Hue. (Its the adjust desktop colour tab.) Replace the monitor HDMI with the rift one and it will keep the adjusted settings. i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB
aceviper Posted July 24, 2017 Posted July 24, 2017 (edited) The hue didnt seem to work Cibit as I set it in stark grey. Set digital vibrance to 40% and that seems to make the pixels less glowy. Or it could be just placebo to my ageing eyes!" Edit: had digital vibrance set to 0% but ti seems to affect the 3d effect so I will leave at 40% Edited July 24, 2017 by aceviper
Cibit Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Thank you Cibit I will follow your advice I have gone and tweaked the VR preset a little and the game looks better without a performance hit. Terrain and textures set to high, flat shadows and flat terrain shadows. VD high. Also have max preload radius, max grass and trees are a higher value too. Happy tweaking :) @aceviper, its a relatively easy tweak that can be played with if neccessary. hope it helps a bit :) i5 8600k@5.2Ghz, Asus Prime A Z370, 32Gb DDR4 3000, GTX1080 SC, Oculus Rift CV1, Modded TM Warthog Modded X52 Collective, Jetseat, W10 Pro 64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Adding JTAC Guide //My Vid's//229th AHB

westr Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Apologies if this has already been asked but does Oculus touch work in DCS. I have touch as part of the deal when I purchased from amazon. Got the Rift the other day and Love it and think it's wonderful with DCS, and have the touch being delivered today. johnco61 Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 You can see them as a pair of gloves in the sim but can’tuse them for anything yet. It’s a bit of a pain sometimes when they are picked up for some reason when sitting on a shelf in my room and appear floating outside the cockpit So keep them out of sight when in DCS!!

rrohde Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 Question: With VR (Rift, specifically), does pressing Alt+Enter for fullscreen make a difference as it did with a 2D monitor? funkyfranky Posted July 27, 2017 Posted July 27, 2017 I've asked the same question some time ago. Answer was that it did not make a difference for the people who replied and my own experience. Could have changed meanwhile. But I would be surprised to see an effect in VR. But then again, I'm also surprised that it makes a significant difference in 2D ;) Would be interesting to figure out why actually...
