Coxy_99 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Lower your expectations, this may just be an update for the more critical issues it will save you getting disappointed if your favourite feature does not appear this time :) You ruin the excitement all the time lol

sobek Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Good call that. Always wondered why they would put them self's trough the risk of a lost weekend, due to a broken friday update. Indeed, it is a good decision. Most of the time when I've released something on the end of a work week, it has come around to bite me in some form or another. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!

Raven68 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 In the past, if there has been a game breaking bug, there has been a patch very soon afterwards, so that is most probably the case going forwards. It will however mean that the guys at ED will be able to get a weekend off occasionally, which is obviously the reason for the change.. Agreed. It's should be very beneficial for them and us, the community. OnlyforDCS Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 let's see what has changed after this update at performance side. Wouldn't they have mentioned performance improvements, had there been any? In the changelog I mean. Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

Pikey Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Hooray for a sensible software release day. Not only does it take pressure off the developers so they can enjoy the weekend, but it also helps the customer base enjoy theirs too. I'd fully support a twice monthly update rather than the once per week so they could gain some developer time and not be in these constant sprint cycles. A better/steadier release would mean less hotfixing and eyes dragged off mainline development and smoother cycles with the ability to get a decent weeks sprint in. Always thought a week was too fast. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *

I see what you are saying Pikey. Somewhat like quality over quantity, but maybe these developers are just that good and a week to us is like a month to them if you know what I mean. For me, deliver what you can when you can if you feel confident in what you are releasing. If an issue comes up I feel I can be patient enough for ED to resolve it. Coxy_99 Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Nice update, With the gauges reflection on the cockpit hopefully some what reduced than what it was :)
OnlyforDCS Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 Also we didn't get a patch for either the release, beta or alpha versions every friday. Some fridays it was just a newsletter with some news tidbits, upcoming changes or sales. So it's not like they are beholden to release a patch every friday (or wednesday now). Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

ED issue updates when they have something to update. There definitely isn't a weekly schedule for updates, it just happens that most of the time they have some updates on a weekly basis. On other occasions they miss 2 and occasionally 3 weeks. So I assume it is progress led, rather than timetabled.
Weasel Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 The new damage model looks amazing and will be a big step for a much more realtistic flight experience!
mkiii Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 The files just aren't available yet. No amount of clicking that update button is making them get put up any faster. :(

kontiuka Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 The new damage model looks amazing and will be a big step for a much more realtistic flight experience!I wonder if it will apply to AI units as well. Would love if a shot-up AI fighter actually lost fuel and fluids.
ED Team NineLine Posted June 2, 2017 ED Team Posted June 2, 2017 I wonder if it will apply to AI units as well. Would love if a shot-up AI fighter actually lost fuel and fluids. If it doesnt, I will be the first in line adding that in a bug report. The DM should not only aid PvP, but against AI as well, right now there are a number of issues that make AI planes flying tanks. mkiii Posted June 2, 2017 Posted June 2, 2017 I wonder if it caters for size of round and self sealing tanks?

I doubt 2 damage models are maintained. should be the same for AI, Bullet hits Collision Box XXXX Trigger Damage Type, Trigger Animation, Trigger Dep Cell. Now instead of simple Wing, Nose, Flap, it'll be more detailed internally.
