Well, I opened in up again, twice. This is already the n-th time I had to open the base to fix problems and it is always a chore, because I have to uninstall it from my seat first. I couldn't find any apparent problem, everything looks in order. It sounds a little different each time I put it back together, and frankly I think now it is even worse.

I really love the stick's design and it is really exactly what I was looking for. But I am very unhappy with the numerous problems I had so far and am pretty sick about the number of times I had to open the thing. Say what you want about the Logitech 920, but I didn't have to open this one ever.

Was I just very unlucky and got a Monday-model?

Hi MBot, can you please email warranty@virpil.com ASAP. We would like to take this unit back to see what's going on.

Mine makes a few noises but I'm pretty sure it's the springs compressing/moving inside their cylinders, maybe a little grease for those would help? I might have to try that, now that I think about it. I have had to tighten the grip screws a couple times, and that has quieted any grip noise.

To be clear, it is only HEARD and not FELT, after cam replacement my T50 is smooth as silk, with a slight roughness in the very middle transition for either X or Y, but nothing major. I think I got replacement rev b cams which still looked a little rough, but were way better than what came with the stick initially.

The only other source of noise is at the stick limits where it rubs against the rubber dust cover, Virpil I think has redesigned this looking at the pics of the WarBRD. You could also run it without a dust cover, or mod a piece of leather or similar so as to not get pinched at the stick limits.

I will say this: Virpil's after-sales customer support has contributed a huge amount to my positive feelings about this stick, and their product offerings now and in the future. They are doing it right.

I have my T-50 since late August and use it almost daily. It does make some strange noises and it does not feel quite smooth, when I move it around without flying. But when I fly I do not hear or feel any of this, it's great.

Since I bought it for flying and not for making noise tests this does not bother me at all.

However, in order to maintain a happy user community in the long term, VIRPIL engineering ought to consider these little quirks as quality issues and engineer them out of the product!

That has been precisely my experience as well.

I can feel the cam roughness when not flying and just moving the stick around quickly, and hear some clanks. But when flying I do not feel anything, feels very smooth. Obviously smoother/slower control input whilst flying.

And I too have quite a number of hours on mine now.

I've had quite a few hours now on the stick now. Lately I've also felt "roughness" and some noise on the Y-axis. It felt a lot like the cams would be not smooth but it has actually been the spring. Like with my VKB T-Rudder where the spring was giving noises, I've added grease on the MT-50 base springs and everything is silky smooth again. :joystick::)

As I anticipate my T-50's arrival either later on today, or tomorrow, I created an editable PDF form for the button layout. You can get two short lines of text in each box. The large box at the top is only one line for naming your set-up/simulation.

Anyone recieved their stick before christmas or the past week? Mine has been in service for a part exchange for over a month now.

I would send a mail to cyph3r and ask him to check for you:

I have done so about every week. The last answer was no parts from supplier, even though new sticks are delivered to customers.

That's not good :(

I'm sure I read earlier in this thread that someone had a warranty replacement within a week or so. They should send you a new stick IMO.

Anyone got any tips for removing machining scratches/grooves? - I have tried 220, 400 grit and I'm not getting anywhere. The more obvious ones in the center are deep enough to catch my fingernail. I could try filing, but I don't want to alter the cam shape if possible.

I have been sent replacements but it's been more than four weeks shipping so far.

Ouch, really not cool. I'd agree that they should replace it for you, for the price there should be no dicking around on warranty.

I have bought a speedmaster flight seat (eating for it to arrive) it has a center mount for the stick, now I have a warthog stick and throttle, but I would like to buy the t-50 base but before doing it I would like to know if I can mount on my seat, so could someone be so kind to tell me the dimensions of the underbase screws because I will have to drill it.

You can see how the seat is done in the picture here....in it the joystick is mounted on the right, but as you can see there is a plate to mount it in the center, which I would like to use00e3619653026b5ffe7bbecd839091a4.jpg

The T-50 base can't be mounted on the bottom plate. At least it's not recommended. Normally it is mounted on the front of the base - kind of strange, but that's the way it is. So you would need an angled plate that is mounted to the seat and to the t-50 base.

The Virpil base is not designed to be mounted from the bottom, the housing is not beefed up for that.

It has a mounting bracket that is attached to the front of the base. You would likely need to fabricate some sort of bracket for it.

I do not like that at all.

Essentially it requires far more complex work to the end user than a base mount.

When this bad boy comes in the post, no one is hanging around and it simply must go in as quickly as possible in the fastest dirtiest way..... 80% of the population do not prepare.

In essence you have two ways of looking at it;

A) base screw mounting.

A monkey can mount a bottom base unit securely even with limited DIY skills and multiple horrible re-drill holes..... they will get there and it will work and it will work well! (this is me).

B) A front mounted unit requires thought and skill.

If you want to maximise sales A is the way to go and add B for your own mounting brackets.

I get it, in some ways it is a very good decision.

A desk mount unit that is easy to attach into a computer working environment or home computer system within a few seconds, I think there is a lot to be said for their design choices... a lot.... especially with the up coming space sim community etc etc.

But at this price level the community is established, the big boys that spend this sort of money do it the way big boys do it!

This big boy market is the bread and butter for this company.... it is the basis in which they become established.

Choice A & B is the only choice!

At this price it offers the market all the right options in one single place..... not a bad place to start at all.

Yes I have nothing against desk mount...myself used it for a long time but now I would like to grow with my flight sim rig and having already bought the flight seat I linked upside now I discovered that I am stuck with my old warthog and if I want to change with something more professional I have to "invent the wheel" to mount it on my rig...if only it could be mounted with bottom screws like the warthog all would be solved

Last question...do you think that this desk on my rig (picture from official site) can take the weight and force of the deskmount + the T-50 base?could be another option for me28d62b1688001b1163cbb8bd0481a4ef.jpg
