from here the cone looks a bit wrong. it seems that your goes streight, but in the close-ups i've seen there's a little "bump" in the slope at its foundation..

also the tailfin is still missing some antennas (also bump-shaped that stick out form it's sides) it seems

There are all kinds of probes and ports at the front of the aircraft that are missing too, but, try to remember that this model is a work in progress. Try to read the whole thread before making additional suggestions. Hell...its only recently that he put wings on the damn thing...let's try to keep up and help the guy build the aircraft. ;)

we already have a flanker in game.....his model can just replace that. The issue with the mig is that it NEEDS to get integrated in game...hence I really appreciate that he is making it his priority. :D

re missing parts:

 

Maybe its not so obvious in the pic, but I work only on one half of the frame, the other half is just a mirrored object. All borderline details (centreline when the 2 sides are welded) will be done only when the 2 sides are welded.

 

Re. poly count, yes its approaching 50k but this is how i work, like my flanker, every thing at high poly, then at the optimization stage I keep the high poly for the tight curved parts like nose , cones, front edge of wing..etc, and dramatically remove polys from flat and semi flat areas.

 

For ex. the following pic. shows a cutout of the wing/wing base. Cloned then optimized. One of the objects below is only 50% poly count of the other. ;)

Finally, its Work in progress, comments are appreciated for what is done and how they should be fixed if they need to. Not for what is missing!!!!, After all if nothing is missing then the thing should be "Release" and not " Work in progress"

Aye-yi-yi... 50K polygons. That'll hurt the framerate. Any chance of a de-tesselated (lower-poly) model for us with older systems?

did you read his post? He said that he likes to work with higher poly, and then optimize it. And with proper lods, even with 50k model, fps shouldnt take a big hit. ;)

Around 50K its the ED recomandation. Su-25T has around 50K polys. If you want a low poly model why don't you stick with the default model after all?

 

I bet the new F15 from Walmis has around 50K...

And for those who are too much concerned about the poly count, even before I finish the project , cheerup and have a good look at this:

This is the 26k poly. version of the work. You can hardly spot any significant degradation in the mesh. So trust me, the whole project is under controle and the final poly count is a decision related issue.

Um... what default model? This is the first of its kind.

It's better if you just max out the model at 50K polys. There will be no significant framerate hit, since there will have to be LODs (required by ED to accept model).

I started to thinking about preparing template textures for it already. It would be fantastic if someone has good quality pics of no-cammo silver MiG from the top and side.
