Ala12Rv-watermanpc
These screens do look very promising, though one thing sticks out like a sore thumb - the engine clearly struggles with scaling of sea waves, which look as if watched from 2000 ft rather than 20000 ft. Seems to be opposite extreme of table-smooth-water-problem of Nevada and Normandy at the moment. Let's see how this aspect develops in the upcoming months. I have posted about that exactly in these forums. Waves and white caps look too big from high altitudes, like you were flying much closer to the ground than you actually are. I also think that has an effect in how the sun reflection is handled (also too big shines over the waves). Another little thing from the new pics is, beaches and waves breaking in those beaches are missing but love the new haze effect as well as how the horizon line seems to have been smoothed. thanks for the pics. Well I think that is dependent on a number of things, we dont know what Wags set up for wather and such, he might have had some extreme wind, and I dont think the ocean looks like glass from 20,000 feet, depending on conditions I think you could see some large white caps. But these are just Screenshots as well, pretty tough to judge I think. There will always be room for improvement in features and effects. Reflected
I really love the way waves look on these screenshots as well as in the official Normandy videos. When I got Normandy though, I couldn't get waves to look that way. Perhaps all these vids and screenshots were mad with the wind set to 40kts? REDEYE_CVW-66
The water in Normandy 2.0 is not the same as seen here. THey have tweaked it condiserably since then. Hopefully the "New" water seen in these shots as well as in a lot of the SoH promos will come to Normandy soon.TM.

Funny, I've been thinking the exact same thing. When you look at the land it's easy to see that you're up at 20,000 feet, but when you look at the water you get the feeling that you're much closer. I think it's something that needs to be sorted because right now it sticks out and takes alot away from the photorealism.

ED Team Wags Posted December 7, 2017 ED Team Share Posted December 7, 2017 One of the questions we regularly get is how the updated Caucasus map will perform in VR. Generally, we/I am very hesitant to remark on expected performance because of the huge number of factors that can affect this. We have seen many cases of people having almost the exact same hardware, but experience greatly varying performance. As such, I can only comment on how it performs for me, and this may or may not reflect your experience. When flying today in the updated map in the Hornet, I spent much of it screaming down heavily wooded river valleys, with the occasional pop-ups to higher altitudes. Graphics setting was the default HIGH with tree rendering distance to set maximum and the visib range setting at HIGH. Pixel Density was set to 1.5. During all times, the FPS never dipped below 45 for a very smooth "space warp" experience. Hope this helps. 1 Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/wagmatt Twitch: wagmatt System: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3729544#post3729544
