KC130 is interesting but the thing is dam slow when you are in a fighter we had to use mid flap to refuel of it. Albeit a slightly different version the RAF only has a center basket.

That would be the Tristar, Would rather have the VC10 or K2 to refuel more then 1 aircraft at a time.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

No it was a C130 with the center basket, I was on the F3 at the time and they deployed it to the Falklands when the VC10 was having problems.

Still hoping for a KC-135 MPR or a KC-10 which will better fit the Hornet's higher speed compared to the Harrier. (And the Mirage 2000 + Tomcat smile.gif )

The Tomcat tanker has a KA-6D or a S-3 with refuel pod to Navy operations. If we follow build realistic operations as Marine AV-8B as KC-130 (and others Navy tankers over a landing operations zone outside range of ground heavy tanker assets).

And what about KC-10? It would be a good tanker for F-18.

Here is what we need: an option for the KC135.

This is the simplest an most practicable solution.

ED would only have to do a small model update for the KC-135 and add the basket ability they could "copy" from the IL-78.

So there is no plane to add, remodel or retexture completely.

The western fraction would have one big tanker for all their airplanes and the S-3 for carrier based operations. (This could use a retexture but it will work ;) )

For DCS this is enough :)

Real tankers to F/A-18C was S-3 with basket and a KA-6D on Us Navy, and others assets as KC-130, KC-10. Actualy, RAZBAM work on a C-130 tanker

I have seen in real life over top of my house a kc-130 refueling 2 f-18s... One on each wing hooking into basket and they were low and slow. I'm near patuxent naval air station

Very excited for the KC-130 collaboration between Razbam and ED! Hope someone does some great Marine skins. This will work great for all the Naval Modules

They also tend to use the drogue adaptor quite often. It's the simplest of all options.

Except that the adapter can't be mounted or dismounted in flight, making the tanker unusable for any F15s/A10s that also need a drop or two of extra fuel.

Mk.32B wing pods is the only practical solution.

That's correct. It can only be mounted while on the ground. I wouldn't say wing pods are the only practical solution but they are definitely a good option. Ideally, I'd like to see both.

The KC-130 is going to be a great option for the hornets, although for more accurate fleet depictions ED should seriously consider updating the S-3 tanker or adding a KA-6 or a tanker configured Super Hornet.

If we're going with present-day fleet depictions, then Super Hornets, KC-10s, KC-130s, and KC-135s would be most accurate.

1991 - 1994 would be the KA-6D; 1991 - 2008 would be the S-3.

Is refueling from a drogue easier than the boom setup or just different? I am looking forward to not have to rely on an ai boom operator.

Drogue refueling is actually quite a bit easier. It actually is a pretty easy skill to get down. You can use straight up hand eye coordination to connect to the drogue.
