I saw that after the pre-release phase of the Hornet we will be able to use the GEN-X decoy but the problem is that i don't found any informations about it on the web (maybe classified ?)

If some of you know how it works, what it is, i'll be thankful!

I believe it's a towed decoy that mimics the radar signature of a Hornet and creates the illusion for the missile that the jet is further back than it actually is.

Yes thats correct, i dont have the documents either but im pretty sure the F-16 uses the same (similar) decoys.

From what i recall they are Expendables, once put out, if not hit, you cut or drop them before RTB. Thats just what i remember.. if the documentation is found i would like to see it as well..

Also i will say the documentation is open source.. ED is VERY strict.. the will NOT model any weapon or strategic system that is not based on open source documentation.. so the worry that its classified should be a concern. The info is out there or ED would not have modeled and used it.

I believe it's either manually selectable or it's automatically deployed and towed behind the jet if the countermeasures computer deems it needed for the threat. And then can be cut by the pilot or the computer.

RT-1489/ALE Generic Expendable Decoy. The GEN-X Decoy is a

small, one shot, expendable terminal, RF threat countermeasure that receives an RF signal from a

recognized threat, such as airborne or land-based semi-active radar guided missiles, then transmits

RF power to counter that threat. The GEN-X Decoy can be launched from the AN/ALE-39 or

AN/ALE-47 Countermeasure Dispensers using a CCU-63/B or CCU-136/A Impulse Cartridge.

GEN-X has been designed and cleared for flight on all Navy tactical aircraft.

That doesn't really sound like a towed decoy?

Oh thanks for clarifying.. i know there are towed decoys and i had also thought that's what the Gen-X was, but reading it now and seeing that it says its launched from the AN/ALE-39 or

AN/ALE-47 Countermeasure Dispensers i guess make that more clear as the towed decoys are from pylon stations on the wings i believe.

Not necessarily from pylons, but generally you're right regarding towed decoys: https://theaviationist.com/2012/04/16/towed-decoy/

The ALE-50 dispenser can replace a pylon and then have a weapon rail hung off the bottom of it: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ALE-50_Towed_decoy_system_mounted_on_USAF_F-16C_Block_40H_(90-0710)_at_MCAS_Iwakuni_May_5,_2016_02.jpg

Yes, I just said that this isn't always needed as some aircraft have towed decoys internally.

Has anyone heard any updates on this? I have been experimenting with high altitude PvP BVR in the Hornet with some success, but I think GEN-X could be particularly handy. Can't wait to see how it is modelled in-game.

No, no updates on this so far. The Hornet's entire ECM suite is still missing (apart from the RWR and chaff and flares).

Does the ANL-50 not require the upgrade to ALR-67(V)3 Jammer? Which is budgetwise as OSIP 021-08 planned for sometime through 2023 (with 188 pieces by then) ?

So will the Hornet also get the ALR-67(V)3 and the ALQ-214(V)4/5 then which are part of that OSIP?

ANL-50, you mean ALE-50?

In either case, Gen X requires ALE-39 or 47, which we have. So that's fine

the GEN-X was recently removed from feature list
is this thread and its tag of "later in EA" still valid ?

It was always “Later in EA,” however the new rumor is that amongst other features such as some radar modes are no longer going to happen.
