wizav Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 I still prefer A-10C due being complete, and missions are way more interesting to play. I haven't played Harrier, I would like to hear opinions on Harrier as well... is it still in early access? Hornet has a huge potential but still far from done :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

lobo Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 I still prefer A-10C due being complete, and missions are way more interesting to play. The F/A-18 is awesome, but... where's the BRRRRRRTTT! StandingCow Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 I haven't flow my poor hog since the Harrier came out.... it's just nice not being slow. The F/A-18 will eventually be my main module but right now it's pretty limited. 5900X - 32 GB 3600 RAM - 1080TI My Twitch Channel ~Moo
EasyEB Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 When the F/A-18 is completed, and if there ever is a F/A-18 HOTAS it will (for me) be a serious competitor to the A-10C. Until then though, Hog Life.

Saintan Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Haven't even scratched the combat systems' surfaces on either. Still kickin' tires and lightin' fires. Ooops, sorry. No fire (AB) for the Hog. ;) Enjoying the feel of both, but will probably 'train' in the Hog until more work is complete on the Hornet. Despite its early-access state, if I could only own one module it would be the F-18 hands down. So many more mission options for multi-role (obviously), plus carrier ops(!), plus it's Canada's current jet, plus it's sexy as...(quickly opens new tab to check forum rules)...heck. :) TTW (Tangential Thought Warning)...I know the Super Bug is better overall, but I just can't take to the rectangular intakes or the exaggerated 'cobra hood' above them. Mr_sukebe Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 +1 for the above The F18 is already pretty awesome to fly, particularly learning carrier ops. Long term, system complexity is likely to be in the same ballpark as the A10. Start with the above and then add SEAD, anti ship and genuine air to air capability. What’s not to like. I love the harrier as it has unique capabilities. For all that, the F18 is now my go to aircraft. 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
QuiGon Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Totally different birds. I love them both and would never put one above the other.:pilotfly: Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
Shadoga Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 The Hornet in it's current limited state is a pain in multiplayer air-to air but has already become the main DCS strike aircraft for me. The ability to edit your waypoints / build your own route and fly them with precise TOT, laying CCRP retarded bombs from an <200ft AGL / >550 KT attack run and not having to do it in the weirdo-computer metric Viggen cockpit is my personal groundpouner love. Missing Digital Integration's Tornado so much...

Kev2go Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 when complete up prefer the hornet due to its versatility and not being slow. in the hornet i don't feel helpless if I am being harassed by enemy interceptors. I can self escort and sting back hard in self defense. christiankirk81 Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Why you do this? Although majority of my hours were clocked on the Hog, even way back when it was a stand-alone module. The Hornet is "hogging" a lot of my attention recently. lol! Same with Quigon, I cannot put one over the other, even mostly for nostalgic purposes. Also the Hornet, doesn't have the Hog's loiter endurance. So before this post becomes any more inappropriate comments between speed and endurance, I just want to say...I love them both. i7 9700k@5.0 Ghz, 32gb DDR4-3200, Maximus XI Formula, Asus Strix GTX 1080ti, 1TB NVMe Samsung 970 Evo, 1TB Samsung 860 Evo Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, TM Warthog, MFG Crosswind Graphite Black, Wheelstandpro Warthog Deluxe V2, TrackIR 5 Pro. HiJack Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 My god what a stupid question this early in the process.
sea2sky Posted June 11, 2018 Posted June 11, 2018 Even if Hornet is 100% complete - I'm sure I will prefer the Hog for some missions, or will choose it sometimes just simply because how it feels in its cockpit, and how it flies. The ability to fly slow is actually an advantage for certain type of missions. It is more modern too, and you can tell that. i5-9600K@4.8GHz ★ 32Gb DDR4 ★ Asus TUF rtx3080 OC ★ Quest Pro ★ Warthog on Virpil base
eaglecash867 Posted June 12, 2018 Posted June 12, 2018 Definitely still liking the Hog much better because it has a good, old fashioned, stick and rudder feel to flying it. Xenovia Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 (edited) Hornet. Everything in that aircraft suits my flying style, great flight characteristics, and a powerful radar, when the Hornet is more complete with AMRAAM's I can lob at my enemies, and AIM-9X's for WVR encounters I don't think I'll ever touch FC3 planes ever again. As for the hog, well you just can't beat the speed that the Hornet provides, to get away from very hairy situations. Edited June 14, 2018 by Xenovia [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TomOnSteam Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 (edited) I thought I would miss the A-10C, because of that big gun. But I already prefer the hornet in the ground attack role. I love the fact that I can climb to an altitude much faster for re-attacking. And The turn rate is very good on the Hornet, so it's not hard to turn back around for another pass. Even though dumb bombs aren't that accurate, screaming over the target area and letting some bombs fall in the AUTO/CCRP mode is just so much fun, and I can see this being very effective with guided bombs. The auto trim is nice too. The fact the Hornet can do it all, I can't see myself going back to the Warthog (as much as I love, it was my first DCS plane, so it's special to me!). Honestly the only thing that will get me out of the Hornet will be a modern attack helicopter with two seats, and even then the Hornet will remain as my main choice - until we get an F-35 (I can dream right?) Mutantos Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 My top for the missions are Strike: 1. F-18C 2. M2000C 3. Viggen 4. Mig-21 CAS: 1. A-10C 2. KA-50 3. Gazelle So Hornet and the Hog are my number ones but in different categories. Both great even now in Hornet's Early Access times. We will see if F-18 is going to fly for THE THRONE OF CAS when complete and overthrow the king ;D

The ability to fly slow is actually an advantage for certain type of missions. It is more modern too, and you can tell that. the hog isn't really more modern in it's technology apart from having LCD based displays instead of crt monochrome green monitors ( although lower 3rd display on the hornet is a LCD ) the only avionics feature the hog has that would be desirable to have on the hornet would be the maws ( Ir warning sensor). otherwise the hornet has all the sensors it needs. and the lack of 2 upper LCD display isn't a big deal. it would just "look" nicer but otherwise display the exact same pages if anything the hog feels more old school because all those analog instrument guages retained from the a10a and because it's flight system is not fbw. The Hornet from get go of production was integrated with a full on "Glass Pit".
