FireCat Posted December 16, 2018 Posted December 16, 2018 (edited) Hi Chic, actually have added to the list at home as new names appear. I was going to post a new list every 2 weeks or so rather than every time a few new names appear. If you want to take it over that's fine but I would suggest you keep it in an alphabetical order so you don't risk duplication (it's easier to keep track who is already on it) you then have to realign the number sequence to suit and make sure you don't miss a number out like 87 :-) A 01/ aaron886 02/ AdrianK 03/ AKA_Clutter 04/ A2597 B 05/ Bearfoot 06/ BlacleyCole 07/ Bob_Bushman C 08/ Cal.Iber 09/ Chic 10/ cmeliak 11/ cordite 12/ crazysundog D 13/ DayGlow 14/ dburne 15/ DeadEnd 16/ defygravity 17/ Drakeshoot E 18/ EntropySG F 19/ fargo007 20/ farmertom 21/ FireCat 22/ FoxDelta 23/ Fri13 24/ Fusedspine33 25/ FZG_Immel G 26/ gianlu320 27/ Gladman 28/ Goblin 29/ Gruman 30/ GVO H 31/ hakjar 32/ hansangb 33/ heloguy 34/ huzar I 35/ iffoif 36/ Icebeat 37/ Iku64 J 38/ Jabbers 39/ jnr4817 40/ joca133 41/ Joe_S 42/ jv44bubi K 43/ kaltokri 44/ Kirin L 45/ lolof1 46/ Los 47/ lucky-hendrix M 48/ malamar 49/ mariner3302 50/ mars 51/ MetalGear_Honk 52/ Metro 53/ mr_mojo97 N 54/ neok 55/ nobfunt O 56/ Oesau 57/ OzWookiee P 58/ Pac-Man 59/ =Panther= 60/ pgh2atl 61/ Phoenix F R 62/ ram0506 63/ Ratcatcher 64/ redtail 65/ RogueSqdn 66/ rowdgordypiper 67/ rrohde 68/ ruskybeaver 69/ Rymy 70/ R3ddishF0x S 71/ Salsam 72/ schurem 73/ SDsc0rch 74/ Shrike_AU 75/ skunk160 76/ Snacko 77/ Snapp 78/ Snow51th 79/ sparkchaser2010 80/ streakeagle 81/ Sydy T 82/ Thick8 83/ tibidisdik44 84/ tintifaxl 85/ tribundf 86/ TWC_Alamo V 87/ Velez 88/ VFRHawk 89/ VirusAM W 90/ westr here is a starter for you Chic hope this helps you if you want to do it. mariner3302 Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Miles, will you be able to implement haptic feedback? Maybe some small pads at the index fingers that give some indication that you are in fact touching a button/switch/control? i7-7700K, 32GB DDR4, 525GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080Ti 11GB, Liquid Cooling, Win 10, Warthog HOTAS, TPR Pedals, HP Reverb, Oculus Rift with Touch, Jetseat and bass shakers, PointCTRL, and Scale F-14B Cockpit
MilesD Posted December 18, 2018 Author Posted December 18, 2018 Hey All, I am still waiting on the HMS sensors to be delivered, meanwhile software development continues with mostly tweaks for user options, and preparation for production. I am not totally satisfied with the pointer resolution with the new wide angle optics. Bottom line is only about one third of the sensors FOV is being utilized. I have been sourcing interchangeable lenses for VR and conventional monitor use. Its not a complicated issue, I just need to integrate a slight magnification lens for optimal cursor resolution. @ Marine3302, I actually had a haptic sensor on one of the first prototypes that used a gyro and accelerometers to sense a finger movement like a flick of a switch. The sensor would quickly vibrate for a second to confirm the finger flick. I found the button banks a much better solution with their tactile and positive control. Since I am using transceivers, I have considered haptic feed back for game events, guns, bomb release ext. The hardware is locked in for now but I am sure I will be adding features in the future. I have the bare minimum of my new pit area completed enough to throw up another video tonight. mariner3302 Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Very cool, thanks Miles! Was just a thought. It will sure be nice not having to move my head so much to throw switches or push buttons. i7-7700K, 32GB DDR4, 525GB SSD, 1TB HDD, GTX 1080Ti 11GB, Liquid Cooling, Win 10, Warthog HOTAS, TPR Pedals, HP Reverb, Oculus Rift with Touch, Jetseat and bass shakers, PointCTRL, and Scale F-14B Cockpit
Ratcatcher Posted December 19, 2018 Posted December 19, 2018 It will sure be nice not having to move my head so much to throw switches or push buttons. I couldn't agree more! I am so looking forward to having a more integrated cockpit experience that doesn't involve my head and neck contorting into positions they really weren't designed to go in, while trying to move my cursor to hover over a control and then click it before seizing the joystick again to regain control of my aircraft! All that along with not having to juggle a touch controller on my lap and having an extra mouse hanging just out of reach to the side of my throttle, 2019 is shaping up to be a great year!!! All the best with this Miles, but please make sure you take some time off so you can enjoy your Xmas. Ratcatcher Posted December 21, 2018 Posted December 21, 2018 Here's another video showing calibration procedures. Wow! That is looking absolutely amazing! (and exactly what I have been missing since I started using DCS with VR!!!) Really good to hear that you have sorted out the calibration aspect of this as well. A very solid piece of design work and a genuinely innovative product you have there. Very impressed! MilesD Posted December 23, 2018 Author Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) Update: I started designing the enclosures this morning. I hope to fire up the 3d printer this afternoon and print out some test units. Next up is CNC milling of the thermo-forming molds for production units. @ FoxDelta, Here is a pic of the first go at the FCU enclosure. @MemphisBelle, I have secured the domain name pointctrl.com. My son got busy, so It looks like I have to add the web site to my list as well. You will be able to purchase PointCTRL right on the website. @ Ratcatcher, Thanks for your concern, but this is more of a hobby than work for me, so no chance of getting burnt out. Although I don't think I've played DCS online with the 99th in months, and I really do miss it. Ratcatcher Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Good to hear Miles! That looks a nice straightforward design. A quick question, apologies if already answered, but while watching the latest vid I wondered about if you can set a dead zone to smooth out any "wobble" with your finger when you have your arm outstretched?
