It would have been nice to have guides around as before, when they were around, I was on stable branch and was delayed in getting the F14. Then when it did arrive, my GPU blew and the warranty process took another two months to sort out.

I did look through them lightly at the time, but had no pressing need to really examine them.

Now everything is up and running again, I have learned to start, fly and navigate my way around in the cat, and am just now starting to introduce adversaries into my SP missions.

Lordy Lord, how that docile thing turns into a real bitch in a twisting, turning, scissors type flight trying to wipe someone of your six. Two out of every three seconds I seem to be on the ragged edge of disaster as it tries to seemingly pinwheel, flip out of the turn or flat spin every other second. Only panicky footwork on the pedals prevents utter disaster.

And as far as bleeding energy, jeeze both blowers a blowing and you can still lose 400kts in 180 degrees.

Mind you, I suppose I ought to remember to jettison the external tanks...

A guide would be nice at this point. I guess Victory had solid reasons for pulling them.

It has happened to me before, so currently I download onto my PC every document that appears to be of high quality, even if I dont have the module yet.

I've even downloaded onto my PC a lot of YouTube DCS Tutorials, the ones that I've found to be best, as YT content can dissapear overnight, as happened once with Lex's videos.

Fortunately, disk space is cheap nowadays and so I dont have to worry about space :)

I removed the threads, because they became irrelevant for the time being. Victory, as you see, is still around, and working hard together with us to improve the handling now in the smallest of regimes.

His dedication to accuracy is beyond what most pilots and SMEs would ever exhibit and what he tries to convey is the real thing. He is not as much a teacher for you, as he is an invaluable source of knowledge, a bridge into the real world of the Tomcat. Applying it to the sim is our job and the player's job, not his - if that makes sense. Of course his input is meant to help and guide you, but it is his own perogative to focus on real life and how it should be, as opposed to how you can make it for example "easier" for yourself in the sim. It is also not ok that I talk on his behalf, but I still wanted to mention this, because some folks seem to misunderstand that very much.

It seems rather odd to me, if I as a sim pilot would argue with him as a real pilot. Whenever I talk to him, I try to listen only, it is always 100% invaluable information. If you feel he is a bit harsh or direct in some of his responses, I'd beg to ask yourselves what would have prompted a response like that, and on top of that: how extremely kind it is of him to dedicate thousands, and I mean literally: so far thousands of hours to us sim pilots and devs to get a taste of what the real tomcat was like. That is anything but normal, nor is it selfunderstanding.

I hope you forgive me, Victory, if I jumped to your defense here - you most certainly do not need it, hehe. But it is important to me that folks know this and consider it as well.

His guides will most likely be reposted once the FM is in a more final state, thank you for your kind patience until then.

Last night I ripped my wings off for the first time in months. I realized I had been flying the 18 all weekend for the first time in months, to play with the Targeting Pod and it only took a few flights, but I unlearned the number one rule with the Cat. DO NOT YANK THE STICK. With the 18 you have to because of the FBW safety net restricts your inputs, but in the the Cat it will bleed your energy in a heart beat if it doesn't kill you.

Way too much drama here.

Be patient, great stuff coming. I’ve never been more excited about the way the module handles.

Are you kidding? Larkis is my hero. He spoke his mind and no offense whatsoever was taken. Funniest thing I’ve read in years.

I’m making fun of myself, which is offensive to people these days.

As I said, far too much drama around here. More flying, less talking.

Thumbs Up! Thanks Man!

Maybe (to go back OT) you can help me a little bit? :helpsmilie:

Currently i land with autothrottle and AWL (for a good glideslope in the groove) and come on board safely.

Now i start to work doing it myself and currently i am a little bit overwhelmed. Currently my sequence is 1. get pitch on +7-8°. 2. Add/reduce power until im onspeed, 3. trim out, 4 Small corrections with DLC.

And here comes my problems:

When i see i have corrections which are (in my eyes) to huge for DLC (for example i see that i will crash into the trees 200m before the runway) what is the way to fix that?

1. Hold onspeed and pitch and only work with DLC

2. Pitch up and adjust throttle to stay onspeed (as autothrottle would do)

3. Hold Pitch but give power knowing and go back onspeed after the correction.

I currently try to mimic the autothrottle and im so fixed on the e-braket that i forgot to look outside what happend. :joystick:

Maybe you could help me here with this.:D
