That's how I've flown it thus far, and while it does feel a bit odd, it works perfectly fine.

The throttle is more of an immersion killer, with the Warthog split throttle I'm still 2 thrust axes short of the real airplane (although, if I'm not mistaken, the left and right throttles are usually used in unison, so it's only really an issue in emergency situations).

Then again, the control options (single thrust axis, left engines + right engines combined for 2 thrust axes, or 4 individual thrust axes) are really, really cool, that part is very well thought through!

The civilian side of the flight sim gear market probably has some stuff that looks more suitable for the Herc, though.

A normal dual-throttle is perfect. As Yurgon already mentioned, you actually use the 2+2 throttle setup as left + right engines and other than in an emergency (engine failure) you use them like on any dual engine aircraft.

There are no additional reverse thrust levers, or flaps levers so our typical trusty Warthog or Virpil throttle works pretty well.

Edit: to be clear, there are flaps levers, but they are separate from (behind) the throttle quadrant.

Hello. Is it possible to make the С-130 and С-130 (mod) have different engine sounds? С-130 (DCS AI) - after installing the mod Hercules, the engines are very quiet.

 

Why does the mod replace the standard audio С-130?

Correct. The mod has not been updated in years and likely won't ever receive an update.

Yurgon, can you comment on where DCS is on this as a aircraft? I'd love to fly a transport and might do this MOD temp (if it still works) IF DCS is going that direction. A transport A/C in a campaign would be awesome. Sign me up!

The mod is amazing! I'm sure you'll love it, it has some really nice features like paradrops and low altitude pallet drops, including spawning of the delivered vehicles/personnel/crates on the ground after successful delivery (requires loading of a Lua file; it's all described in the documentation that comes with the mod).

The really, really great news is that the team behind the mod are working on a full fidelity DCS C-130J module: https://forum.dcs.world/forum/1068-airplane-simulation-company/
(That's also the reason they stopped working on the mod)

So I'd say DCS is getting a really nice addition with the C-130J and the CH-47, where logistics are going to become a lot more important in many missions and probably also on multiplayer servers.

Well sounds like some fun to try before you guys & gals build my high fidelity aircraft. I can't really fly in A2A combat with sh#tty eyes but love the thought of running some transport between ground pounding missions.

Hi all, I've been using the Hercules since it's release! That being said I to this day have NEVER seen the Guns on the side of the C-130J. Could someone kindly help me with this issue? I can load Bombs on the C-130J and I can see the bombs on the Wings of the Hurc, these Bombs will drop on my targets, but again I have never seen or have been able too use the Guns!

@Timex3....I know NOTHING about this A/C, just started flying it a couple days ago....but.... Not sure whether certain skins are required but this was a simple one. It did NOT require a Ground Attack or CAS mission when I first did it.

Maybe you have an older version...this is v6.8.2 I d/l'd the other day.

No Position, Anti-Collision or Formation LIGHTS?

No TAD screen showing Mission Flight Plan? I'm still struggling with that whole display logic.

As the developer of this Mod seems to be now working on an official Module, it seems that nowadays there is no support for this Mod, we will have to wait until the official Module gets released, hopefully soon

Make sure the historical filter is turned off (clock symbol at the bottom bar in the editor). 

Also make sure you look for "Hercules" and not C-130.

I'm sure it could be done.

 

But you'd probably have to remove the turbine and transmission. Then the turret off, and remove the gun from said turret. Maybe take the tracks onto pallets. Might need 5 Hercules flights to move one Abrams. And probably another two, one for munitions and  another for a fuel bladder to get it running. And one more for the tank  crew, their gear, their food for 2 weeks, and a mechanic crew to put it together. Wait, one more for a heavy mobile crane to assemble it, along with jigs and cradles to lift it all. 

Even then,  I'm  not all that confident of weight of the turret, or the main hull. They are probably under 20 tones, but I don't know that to be factual with the latest Abrams variants.

Abrams M1's were always  MUCH too heavy to ride in a Hercules, but today's are pushing 72 tons, while most Hercules  are limited  to roughly 20 tons as  a  practical cargo weight limit, AFAIK. Maybe they can  lift more, but still nowhere near a fully assembled Abrams. 

I  believe for practical deployment of Abrams, look  to C-5's, C-17's, An-124 and Antonov 225 that's no longer with us. The A400M, as impressive as it is, can only manage about 40 tones max. You need a lot of plane to move such heavy tanks like that. When Canada needed Leo2's in Afghanistan, we hired some An-124's  to move them.

I can appreciate your realism with a pinch of sarcasm. I just want to know if it can be somehow added to the loadout coding, or if thats not a possibility with the current state of it. Thanks

I wouldn't know the coding side. I'd expect it was probably possible with some messing about with code, maybe not so much with the Hercules itself, but maybe by making the Abrams values much lighter, say 15 tons, but still with same armor values... but I dunno, not sure how easy or difficult such a mod would be.

Maybe you might ask someone with ground vehicle mod experience to create one of the new generation of light tanks, the US Army has selected the Booker, which has a 105mm cannon (though optionally could be given a developed 120mm). But it too is too heavy at around 40 tons, but a mod could "pretend" that it could ride Hercs and maybe the upcoming Chinook.

Hi, I know someone did add Dimitrov's Frenchpack vehicles as cargo for Anubis C-130J. I was interested in the process so I can add some CH's vehicles but I have no skills or the time needed.

i had this working fine..loved it...BUT, for some weird reason,,,NONE of my controlers will bind...or even show up in settings...the mouse and tracker IR do though

 anyone have any ideas how to fix this?  all other planes work just fine... i did update too... but that did not resolve the issue.  any healp apprecited.
