Some simple wishes for the next patch:

1. diagonal commands for slewing the Shkval and landing lights.

2. a command that activates both triggers on the Cyclic so I can release weapons or fire guns with the same button.

Posted

XarBat, it's less convenient but there is a boolean in \DCS\Ka-50\Scripts\Aircrafts\Ka-50\Cockpit\Devices_specs\WeaponSystem.lua that lets the gun trigger operate both gun trigger and weapons release trigger.

This is really minor, and I don't know if the graphics engine supports it, but can't cockpit monitors have a little shading applied to them? Currently it seems that whatever color the pixels are in the virtual display, that's the color it is on your monitor, with no shading in between.

It's not really that noticeable in the Shark as it only has the ABRIS and it's doesn't look too bad on the Shkval screen, but on those preview shots of the A-10, the MFDs really stand out as a solid block of unshaded color, especially in the night shot where the rest of the cockpit is softly lit. It should be optional, as some people might prefer having a pristine screen. I know mods can add smudged fingerprints, dirt and whatnot as overlays, but that's different.

I would like to see the exterior F2 view have Track IR support for panning around. It is a little awkward to be flying along with my hands on the throttle and stick, go to F2 view and have to reach down and pan with the mouse.

Or perhaps there is a way to make that happen I am not aware of?

Improved NOE/terrain-following flight routine for AI aircraft and missiles; less near crashes or missiles hitting hills.

Option for different speeds feedback for AI flights. For example, make it possible to toggle between GS/TAS/IAS in the info-bar in external views. Trying to set up proper, believable AI flights only using groundspeed is difficult.

Maybe some way to let the AI control speed and altitude, determined keeping mission-type and aircraft-type in mind. For example, set speed and altitude to 0 in waypoints with mission-type SEAD; airplane will climb high to acquire targets, drop down to close to weapons range, pop up to fire and break at high speed to get out of dodge again. Or cruise altitude and speed for CAP flights so they can stay on station for maximum amount of time.

Airplanes that have an active mission (CAP/intercept for example) refuel and rearm at airport, take off and return to station again.

DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'.

(yes, corny. Sorry.)

Why are theese features from TBS not in DCS ? They dont seem to be "military secrets" or something:

  • Bushes/Foliage/Stems

    dc3.jpgdc5.jpg
  • Better looking/realistic explosion & fire effects

    dc1.jpgdc2.jpg

  • Civilists

    dc4.jpg

  • Reflections inside the cockpit (off the shval & abris screens)

    dc8.jpgdc9.jpg

  • Thunder & Rain-Peel (from Window)

If I'm not wrong bushes and grass will be in next module (A-10C) and in update for Ka50 after that module release. Don't know about other elements but it would be great to have them indeed. Thunder however is already here.

I wish every night for the Crimea to be re-included :D

I hope when DCS is 64-bit and ED have more memory to play with it won't be too difficult to do, even if the mesh/textures are a lower standard to the new terrain.

I'd like the ability to have subtitles stay up for a longer amount of time during missions. Much longer. Like as long as it takes for the next line of dialog to come out.

Seems like every time someone wants to talk over the radio in the campaigns is right when I'm having to concentrate on something other than the top right corner of my screen.

Better yet, English dubs of all the dialog?

How about an option to only clear the Mission specific (not radio) subtitles with a keypress? I could have done with something like that in the campaigns when receiving target coordinates.

Also, remove the Radio queue. It is really annoying issuing an order to a wingman only to have to wait ages while my radio command sits in a queue to be issued because of Awacs droning on and on.

This is more of an issue in FC2 where you want your wingman to attack a specific threat, while you deal with another threat, time is of the essence in these situations.

Add the ability to manually sort entries for the trigger list. Currently they are sorted newest to the end of the list. There is no way to arrange them manually to keep track of them better as you add new triggers.

Here it is. :)

Sweet! Thanks for the work!

edit: I wonder if I ask for a million dollars if I'll get it? :)

It doesn't hurt to ask, but this would be the wrong forum. :music_whistling:

SA and SS Missile Systems

Please oh please can we have the following modeled for use in ME:

SA2 (launcher and radar)

SA3 (launcher and radar)

SCUD

FROG

SS25 (http://www.fas.org/nuke/guide/russia/icbm/rt-2pm.htm)

Especially as one of the roles of the good old A10 was SCUD hunting!!! See the great book WARTHOG Flying the A-10 in the Gulf War http://www.amazon.co.uk/Warthog-Flying-10-Gulf-Warriors/dp/1574888862

It would also be nice to have static versions that are camouflaged with appropriate cam nets for placement in the ME! As this would be closer to real life too!! May be some static versions of the SCUD, FROG and SS25 elevated ready to launch as well! or icing on the proverbial cake an animated version with the launcher elevating that could be activated via a trigger event!

I wish for better LOS determination from ground vehicles and troops to/from aircraft. Also, better use by ground troops and vehicles of concealment, meaning the AI needs to know what parts of the terrain offer concealment.

I have been using Spherical Harmonics for fast approximation of soft shadows and ambient occlusion in image renders. It struck me that this same technique could be used to determine LOS from a point on terrain to an arbitrary point in the sky, like a helicopter.

This data could be baked into a texture on the terrain and would make fast calculation of a vehicle percentage of visibility to/from a flying object fairly fast. Fast enough? I don't know.

As a side effect it can also produces nice shadowing and ambient lighting effects.

Insurgents

Could we please have the insurgents also equiped with kit similiar to the TeleTubbies (Taleban).

eg 107mm recoiless rifle (Chinese), Mortars, 12.7 mm DShK etc

Could the Brits also have some ground troops with SA80, GPMG, Javelin - icing on cake would be WMIKs, Vikings, Mastifs, 81 mm Mortar, 105 mm Light Gun, Scimitar.

It would also be nice to have a Static Structure similiar to a patrol base modeled for use in the Afghanistan map being developed.

Cheers

hi , my suggestions:

Mass destruction(nuclear/chemical) warheads weapons

Napalm bombs

Ships/submarins can launch cruise missile

Air defenses radar on/off trick

Diffrent typs of explosions (ammo building have big explosion)

Improve graphic engine and make IR TV same as COD MW AC-130

Make every thing large

Missile silo building(ability to launch)

Hq/commands building or underground(make hole after destroyying it)

Nuclear reactor plant building

Desert map

Middle east countries for logbook ( Egypt , Saudi , UAE , Iran , Pakistan)

Graphical engine upgrade ideas

Hi guys,

Just realized this area of the forums. I was just randomly looking at some trailers and came across the new trailer for the upcoming Ace-combat game. I think ED and everyone understand that special effects sell games nowadays...and its all about "Call of Duty-like" moments.

SInce ED is making some nice baby steps to upgrade the graphical engine for A-10C module (I cannot wait for it :p )....I thought this is a good time to show this:

http://www.gametrailers.com/video/playstation-3-ace-combat/702678

Please ED....look at the explosions, smoke... fire color...the special effects...the random debris and shrapnel released during an explosion. Especially for ground pounding with a hog where vehicles can explode with metal falling apart...it can truly help the immersion and satisfaction factor.

I love this building shot...int he video you can see it break apart.

ED have listened to the requests for infantry addition, but they still haven't worked on the boring explosions and fire effects since the original lock on. It would be great if they can fix them up a bit with some inspiration from arcade sims. ;)

cheers,

thats all Hollywood... its for arcade games not MILSIMS..

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Dynamic Campaign

Hi guys and girls..

quick 2 questions.

Wondered if A10 sim will have a dynamic campaign like the one found in the falcon series?

Single missions and linear missions that try to outline a story always seem a little shallow and pointless.

Whereas a dynamic campaign is fresh and new everytime you jump in the cockpit. That feeling of contributing to something.

Will the a10 be as realistic as black shark is? (which i have yet to find the time to fly!)

Posted

No, it will not have a Dynamic Campaign.

And it isn't new and fresh every time you jump in the cockpit - you pretty much fly very similar or the same missions time and again.

As for feeling of contributing to something? The phased campaign can accomplish that.

A-10C will have even more detail and realism than Black Shark.

Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

Posted

There will be no dynamic campaign. Falcon dynamic campaign is based on bubble effect IIRC, and that is not well too realistic anyway.

Yes A-10 will be as realistic as BS is. Even more.

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ:

Q: Will DCS: A-10C Warthog have a dynamic campaign?

A: No. We believe quality of individual missions to be very important, and feel that the dynamic campaign technology is not mature enough. There will however be a capable mission generator as well as an expanded mission editor.

;)
