Sparc Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 I mean it makes sense that it should have at least one mission at NTTR. I really hope so because that's the only map I'm able to run near max graphics on vr holding solid 80 fps. I checked the FAQ and did not find anything. Please if someone can shed some light. 2
LooseSeal Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 We're not really at the point yet where we know specifics like that. In fact, I don't think ED has ever released a list of missions prior to a module's release. I guess you'll find out with the rest of us when you start it up for the first time. No doubt there will be an Iron Flag-type campaign for it at some point, there has been for essentially every other modern Western module! 1 - i7-7700k - 32GB DDR4 2400Mhz - GTX 1080 8GB - Installed on SSD - TM Warthog DCS Modules - A-10C; M-2000C; AV8B; F/A-18C; Ka-50; FC-3; UH-1H; F-5E; Mi-8; F-14; Persian Gulf; NTTR
TZeer Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 I wouldn't expect many mission in the EA version of this module. But I guess with time, as the module matures and missonmakers get their hands on it, I guess we will see some official ones down the road. 1
BobCee123 Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Wouldn't it make more sense for the training missions to all be based in Caucasus, or possibly Marianas? Not everyone who buys the Apache will have bought NTTR. Don't get me wrong, when I purchase the Apache, I'll be flying around NTTR a lot, and building my own practice missions there. 1

I think almost all of ED's training missions are at minimum available on Caucasus, and sometimes the branch out to other maps too 1

I believe the OP is referring to the Single Missions that come packaged with modules, not to the training missions. So I have no idea why the training missions were highlighted in Wags' FAQ above. 1 - i7-7700k - 32GB DDR4 2400Mhz - GTX 1080 8GB - Installed on SSD - TM Warthog DCS Modules - A-10C; M-2000C; AV8B; F/A-18C; Ka-50; FC-3; UH-1H; F-5E; Mi-8; F-14; Persian Gulf; NTTR

Sparc Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 Honestly, I dont care whether its training missions or sortie missions as long as I get to fly the ah64 in NTTR. Now that I think of it, is it possible to create a mission and fly any aircraft in any map you want? 1

Now that I think of it, is it possible to create a mission and fly any aircraft in any map you want? Yes. The mission editor allows you to make whatever scenario you want, wherever you want, with any aircraft units you want. There's even a "Create Fast Mission" option on the DCS main menu that allows you to do the same thing, but it will be fairly randomized. But you still get to outline the basic parameters of which aircraft, map, time of day, ground or air start, enemy skill, etc. 2 Afterburners are for wussies...hang around the battlefield and dodge tracers like a man. Sparc Posted January 17, 2022 Author Posted January 17, 2022 i just finished a mission using the hind on NTTR and im surprised i maintained a solid 80 frames with graphics near max. i didnt fly in vegas yet but i did fly over a small town with lots of trees and buildings etc. didnt even budge. what an experience. i wish all maps ran this well. thank you. i have high hopes for the apache on this map.
Jayhawk1971 Posted January 17, 2022 Posted January 17, 2022 Would now be the right time to kindly ask ED to maybe reconsider adding Fort Irvin/ NTC to the NTTR map (IIRC, that was actually being considered early on)? "Everything is subject to change" could work in both directions, right? I could think of many things involving the Apache that'll be a lot less awesome than a full-fledged NTC campaign. 2
Brass2-1 Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 @Jayhawk1971 is there any terrain and elevation detail in the NTC area currently? I’ve not explored that area, but both NAWS China Lake ans NAS Fallon have pretty decent detail already; albeit not an airfield. For Helos one could easily place a FARP. 2
bies Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Apache training in Nevada Desert would be super atmospheric, bringing to mind simulators from the past, but probably ED can't do that due to NTTR being paid addon, not free like Caucasus map. 1

Bedouin Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Would love to see Baltic Dragon og Maple Flag, make training missions for the Apache in NTTR... would happily pay for those. 1

But I have flown to Edwards AFB, which was of roughly similar "detail" as Fallon. (I tried to find the "Star Wars Canyon", then flew south along the Death Valley to Edwards.) Since NTC would be about 70 mi ENE from Edwards, I don't see why it should be any different. So in a pinch, going the FARP route and placing some units should be in the cards. Probably 90% of the systems I've figured out, weapons or nav, I've figured out there. Ya gotta have a home base. 2 Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

NeedzWD40 Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 Unless you've got a really complicated goal, then it's pretty easy to set up a simple shake n' bake scenario on just about any of the maps. If you've got something particular in mind, feel free to share it; there's more than enough people (me included) who would be willing to show you the ropes. 1
Furiz Posted January 18, 2022 Posted January 18, 2022 I wouldn't expect any official specially training missions in NTTR because it is a paid map. Not everyone has it, and it is not fair to make people pay to have access to training mission. 1

Of course you are correct, that would be unfair But I would like to have the training missions both places, like the Mirage has. They should really start doing this, at least for the American modules. Maybe even more users would get the map then. Who knows. 1 minute ago, 71st_Mastiff said: hate to shoot holes in your theory, not everyone has Syria map or Persian gulf map, yet there's training mission in those. Really? Haven't seen that.
