2.8 loading textures takes a loooooong time.

Das Boot

Recommended Posts

After updating to 2.8, every time I load into slot (SP or MP), textures load in very slowly. Attached image is about 3 seconds after loading into the slot. It takes about 10 seconds for all textures within visible range to load. I have cleared FXO and Metashaders2 folders, but no joy.

Very same here. After the update it takes second for all textures to load. I can look around though while textures are loading and thus I know, that it isn't caused by the lag.

Another thing is, that this happens also in the mission editor, where it takes seconds for the map to render details.

This never happened to me in the 2.7 version and seems like bad optimization to me. But that's why it's called open beta.

Please ED, if you need any additional information about from us to solve the problem, let us know.

+1 here (VR user). Only after the patch.

Since 2.8 loading textures when entering the mission or switching views to other units takes a very long time.

Update: .... and while skipping thru liveries in the mission editor too.

Same here. Seems when I go into instant action everything loads right up, but any mission I’ve made, pre-made campaign, or MP takes a long time for textures and the world to load after already in the aircraft.

I will back this up textures do take longer now than before patch, however once in i do get pretty similar frames as before.

Previously the appashaye would take a while to render in, also the tomcat would render in over water then build the scenery, the huey the F18 and the harrier were all fine but now they too take forever to fully render in - and if you press a button in screen while its rendering you will get the blue circle of death, if you are lucky it will recover if not CTD or a hang..

+1 here.

Something is going on, when load up the mission it takes about 20/30 secs to load all the textures while until 2.7 textures were loaded in all objects in about 2 secs....

+1.

I've also noticed that upon entering a server (MP) the ground textures take longer to load than normal (same for when the F10-Map is accessed)

Yeah, same behaviour here. Terrain preload also takes significantly longer than 2.7. No idea why, as they're the same textures etc as 2.7.

Same here, World preload from 0-60 takes minutes for me now - used to happen in 4-5 seconds in 2.7. Also my RAM usage is ridiculous eating away all free RAM in the system while loading (between 18-21 GB which is signifficantly more than 2.7)!

Viewing the Task Manager, I am seeing the Ram hit max of 22 Gig of 32 Gig Ram, and up to 98% CPU while loading the cockpit when I enter the Apache slot
