Hi @Taz1004

I'd like to first thank you your incredible effort to optimize DCS, It helped a lot for me specially. I'd like to

report one small texture issue regarding the B-8m1 pylons missing textures 🙂

Thank you again

I think @Taz1004 knows about this. Syria and AIM-9X are missing textures also.

All of them sequentially is my understanding.

Thanks for the reply, this is what I ended up doing, and it seemed to have worked.

For what it's worth, I didn't see much off an improvement, but maybe it's because my rig is already fairly decent?

The main benefit of these are the savings in VRAM, if you're not VRAM constrained then the performance benefit will be minimal if any.

Sadly, even with 24GB, it often maxes out... 🙄

I've always stayed away from texture mods and haven't used a mod manager for DCS until today. Was reading about this last night so decided to give it a go today. Watching back a track on Marianas map with settings that max my 3080's 10GB of dedicated VRM, here's how it looks with these optimized textures disabled:

And, here's how things look with them enabled:

I'm still maxing out my dedicated vram with those particular settings and that map, but the savings are clear. Thanks for your work on this @Taz1004

I have identical behaviour with 8Gb VRAM. Unfortunately the savings,  though substantial, aren't enough for me to avoid stuttering. Guess this was the last nail in the coffin for the 3060ti and will upgrade to the 3090.

Offtopic: Love the trees mod by the way! That definitely is a game changer for me, as they know look steady and not flickering as I fly by.

At least for the texture issue of the B-8M1 rocket pod I found that three files are missing in the AeroWeapons.zip file of the Bazar\World\textures folder that are existing in the origin file:
b20_diff.dds
b20_diff_RoughMet.dds
b20_NM.dds

I copied them from the original zip, halved the size of the b20_diff_RoughMet.dds and b20_NM.dds (I left the b20_diff.dds unchanged) and added them to the AeroWeapons.zip of Taz1004's Optimized Core Textures mod. Now the B-8M1 rocket pod has textures again.

And are they necessary yet? Or does 2.9 include any of these benefits?

I don’t know, but my guess is they will still make a difference VRAM wise. I don’t think ED has done much with textures for this patch though I’m unsure how much of a difference their work on LOD’s does for VRAM usage.

I just enabled the mod in my mod manager and ran with it. Haven’t done any proper testing.

Reinstalled them this afternoon and it's dropped the VRAM usage a fair amount so still on my ovgme list for now🙂

I changed the download link so you can download individual files.  File that fixes both of them is

/Bazar/World/textures/AeroWeapons.zip
