Apears that...

After watching NineLine's Normandy 2 videos it's pretty apparent he's a few lines short of a brief.  Maybe SevenLine.

With the hype around Normandy 2, Sinai, and the Strike Eagle all building up at once ED is getting the easily twisted into quite a knot.  At the very least I think we're owed some popcorn.

Yes, the lack of information is frustrating. This is not a good way to manage customer experiences.

As paying customers, we should have more consistent information. ED should know this yet I will state an expectation. Leaving us in the dark is not a good customer experience.

I am cool with it. The amount of updates, MT, and content getting added is fabulous.

Tease me all you want ED, I am down for it.

Looking forward to the new releases, whenever they drop.

Well, it all depends, are they teasing us because the map releases tomorrow, then teasing is fun, are they teasing us this much, but the map is still two weeks away, then it's annoying.

What information are you missing? We have a Normandy 2 FAQ, I hope to release a new one tomorrow to make sure it's up to date, but seriously what info are you missing that is so frustrating? How are you in the dark? Previews have been out, that's a sure sign it's close. I really am not sure what else we can tell you.

Not actually a joke, that's how many perceive ED hype language.

Soon might mean a year. Imminent can mean 2 months etc.

We understand unforseen events can happen.  But words do have meaning.

If say you mean to relase a modual within 2 days and you hype that. But "stuff" happens and it takes longer. That's fine(yes someone will always complain) but then you should say that(like you did with the TM patch. Where you clearly stated it wasn't ready as you had hoped)

But if something does come up and it's just radio silence that's not so good. Or if you really hype it,  but planned release is weeks or longer away that also creates unnecessary tension. It probably won't affect ED sales or anything important as ED got defacto monopoly. But it's just unnecessary drama.

Most people will be perfectly happy with a simple 3 sentence explanation about a situation. It makes everything clearer, calms the unruly masses and just makes everything much more pleasant for everyone involved (this isn't directly related to Normandy 2 release, which seems to be on track and everything seems fine) but it should be a general rule for ED and 3rd party developers.

When language/hype/video/pictures don't match the actual statues of a project it leads to misunderstandings, annoyance and it probably makes ED staff jobs needless stressful.

1. Clear language that don't seem to oversell a planned time table and give the masses false hope.

2. If something comes up. Say it right away, doesn't take more than 5 minute at most(if you're slow typer) radio silence is never a good thing. It annoys people and leads to speculations and in some cases wild theories.

I dont remember one time where we had a delay on an actual release date and didn't state why there was an issue.

We generally do not hype far ahead of time, we do share updates and things we feel our customers would find interesting, 9 times out of 10 its other users making the hype or suggesting dates not us.

I would not have posted what I did if the map was not going to be released for another year.

We dont give dates in general outlined clearly in your post why we dont.

If the Patch Status thread said anything almost but TBC, it would not be an issue.

You know if it said Wed 7 June, to celebrate D-Day, you could hype all you like and there would be no complaints.  Then you could say it was imminent all you liked and people would happily know that it was next update, event though it was at least seven weeks away.

@NineLine Thank you for your response.  I know the Normandy 2 map is coming soon.  I am on ED's website every day and I have an idea of what products are available.  Additionally, I read the WIP updates on various planes, choppers, and maps.  Incremental updates, but updates, nevertheless.

When we see "coming soon," we are unsure if it is "two weeks" away or not to be released for some reason at an undetermined time.  I know ED and their contractors do quality work and quality control on their modules before releasing them.

A component of managing customers' expectations is telling specifically when deliverables are ready.
