If it's good enough for a content creator, it's good enough for customers

If I understood Heatblur correctly, they were clearly of a different opinion.

They didn't feel comfortable with a bug, that would break the Phantom for 5-10% of the customers... and I agree here. Some 10 YouTubers getting a marketing release for free and one of them not able to start the thing, is negligible, but going into recess and fixing the root cause from scratch, with the prospect one out of ten paying customers getting hit, is a very sound judgement call.

Thanks to Heatblur for taking the time to fix this and be willing to take the brunt of the inevitable sh.t storm. 🙏🏻

Content creators require some managing and help but they are actually generating much more money than individual users

Can you please explain to me how that works?!

I always thought content creators get the module for free, to actually generate more customers?

Customers would then be the ones actually paying(!) through purchasing the product?

Whole industries seem to do it completely wrong! They sell stuff to customers, instead of only giving it away to content creators and influencers for free, to get rich without the need to sell anything. 🤔

Content creators are probably the nr 1 dcs sales people. I don't think anything funnelles as many new players to DCS  as the big DCS youtubers.

It's it's of course up to ED or 3rd party developers if they feel that kinda attention works well for their new module. Some like to make hype others don't.

On stream, Tricker said he got the pre-release version of the F-15E for free to showcase.

But when it got released to DCS he had to buy it as the pre-release no-longer worked.

Yeah, but even then, the revenue from 10-20 YouTubers isn't really the point.

It's the customers attracted by content creators that matter. And to get their money, you need the product in a release ready state. It may be good enough to provide content creators something to show, but the customers buying make the revenue, not the dozen YouTubers. 😉

That still isn't a reason to hold content back so some YouTubers can drum up interest. Honestly though, Heatblurs cinematic trailers are a league above any YouTuber content. I was on a DCS break around the time the F14 came out. It wasn't a YouTuber content creator that brought me back, it was the F14 video produced by HB. The biggest DCS YouTube channel is sadly GR and they do almost zero promotional content and it they do it's stuck between 2000 videos of hypothetical comedy situations using dodgy mods.

It’s not being held back so they can make content, they get an incomplete pre release build full of bugs and are usually told not to show certain features as they’re not finished yet or don’t work properly. You’re not waiting longer because they have it.

They don't hold back anything.

Youtubers get a pre release version most times. Modules can take months just integrering it properly into dcs. So the fact some Internet guy gets to try it two weeks before you. Doesn't mean you'd get it two weeks earlier if not for him.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious. That wasn't the conversation that was happening.

You literally said

Which has never happened.

Context is everything. I'm not going to sit here and argue with you about another conversation you've cherry picked from.

There is a certain low-key kind of hype going on as of late, and it's kind of nice. Not the usual over-the-top nail baiting hype, but rather a warm, fuzzy feeling of this happening sometime soon. It happens when it happens, and it'll be nice.

I wonder what kind of liveries will be available straight away. And how much I'll like the cassette tape this time.

Heatblur Simulation's serious delay for the dcs f-4e has exceeded the range that "normal" people can tolerate, so it has no choice but to announce that it agrees to accept applications for refunds! It has been half a year since the pre-order started last year!! Regardless of the reason, it is the company's management bad consequences

I'm sure that once the release is actually close, we'll see a more dedicated hype train.

They’ve already said you can request a refund.

I have seriously considered doing that. However, it is still a loosing game, because you may recover the pre order money, but you have lost so much time hoping and anticipating a product that hasn’t been made available yet.

it will become available eventually, my terrible mistake was to fall for the hype and discount and to pre order. Refunds will not help.

Not pre ordering software ever again will help. At least from my viewpoint. The few dollars saved to pre order vs the price of it once released is easily offset by the wonderful fact that the product is actually available.

okay guys, let me go pre order some eggs. 🤗

Per quanto riguarda gli imbrogli, sono più o meno lo stesso, non richiederò un rimborso... ma di sicuro non preordinerò mai più, rofl.

Hi, you're absolutely right but this time too I fell for it... anyway now I don't want to start a controversy but when a seller announces a release date and I purchase a contract is stipulated and if by the indicated date (which no one has ever told HB to put a date) the game does not come out you have every right to withdraw from the contract and ask for a refund, software developers take advantage of this pre-order situation either because they need money (then say so) or they take advantage of good faith of users and this is much worse. However, as far as I'm concerned, I will never pre-order again.
