Amazing how people can be so confused by something so simple...  If you want the whole map, buy the whole map.  If you only care about one part of Afghanistan, just buy that part.  If you just buy one

Will we get new assets for this map? All we have right now are two insurgent infantry units and maybe the two types of technicals (though wrongly clothed).

Just the teased new US vehicles won't help to build missions, if we don't have opposing assets or ideally assets like the IEDs from the LLH insurgent pack.

II first read the news over on Hoggit and was totally confused.   I’m glad there was some clarification here.

My questions are will the the EA become like a 5-7 experience and the 2 other portions of the map to go high detail take forever, what's the release plan for the other 2 high detail areas (even though it may never be stuck too)

This is all based on EDs past record, Supercarrier still in EA with lots of promised features still not available (no updates in 2 years), YAK52, 5 years on still broken in parts and in EA with no updates.

Also AI assets for this region....any new ones coming to make this a proper Afghan playground, will the ground AI pathfinding be improved as it current has major issues driving around Syria and Sinia

The above are all valid reason to be cautious about a stage release from ED

Can't be much longer than say one of the missions in Blue Nose Bastards thats a bomber escort mission to Paris. 

That's like 3-4  hour.

Fair questions! I guess until they release Vietnam or Central Europe, this will be their showcase map, so hopefully not too long. It also begs the question if they have multiple map teams, now that Iraq is on the horizon.

In my experience ED have a bad habit of moving on to the next new thing and forgetting the last great thing from 2 release back or so (with slow updates), promising to show so much when they can, but never do with the std line, "we will show you more when its ready" so in essence all ways keeping us the customer in the dark about updates coming to the sim.

Im burnt out by the early access model ED uses, I have nearly all the modules, but most of my ED modules I have are still in EA waiting for updates that never happen or do very slowly, Heatblur took the EA model to the next level and it damage my EA faith.

I nearly pushed buy today, but reminded my self about my EA burnout, ill wait and see if BN or NL answer my questions.

It's in the announcement: Regions will be released in approximately three-month intervals.

For honesty answering another poster's question?
They're actually referring to how long EA usually drags out, that's why. Hopefully the first part be released in June, and the last before New Year. I'm positive!

How detailed will be the parts of the map that are only included in the full map? That is, excluded of the 3 different sections. Those are parts that you guys have the least incentive to detail further.

I know how long EA can drag out and I'm not encouraging or discouraging anyone from buying into it. I'm personally waiting at least for Afghanistan East. But @Hotdognz asked for the release plan, which is a little buried in the wall of text on page 1, so I figured I'd help out. And now it seems I'm being ridiculed for being helpful. Go figure.

Yeah, I guess the confusion is that the initial statement was that the first part was to be released in EA, and the second part was after. Remember the first picture we got? Now it seems that doesn't apply anymore, and we'll have three parts actually, with a release schedule. I missed that part myself, and you should definitely not be ridiculed for quoting the FAQ.

I know people that fly around the world in an airbus for "fun" in other sims. The trip from the Gulf of Oman to Afghan isn't that bad at mach 0.9. I wouldn't do it but I know others that would just to drop 1 bomb

There seems to be a lot of confusion about what areas are getting airfields and details. I think it's because the borders of the country get lost so I threw together a quick graphic that I think may help people understand the coverage where everything within the borders will be the main content and the area outside terrain only (since maps are square). Please correct me if I'm mistaken.
