The rest ? who are you speaking for.

How do you figure?

Used to play regularly (have most RAZBAM products), bought something every sale, this situation developed and I stopped making purchases as and the months went on I realised I just didn't much feel like engaging with the game anymore.

Still sounds like personal problem to me. I can only read what you write - that's how I figure.

Sorry to see you are no longer playing I hope that changes in the future. DCS continues to grow and develop so hopefully you will have a change of heart, we will be here when you are ready.

This thread is for discussion of the RAZBAM situation, you may want to make a new thread if you want to discuss your personal situation.

thank you

the golden era of around 2020

Sorry, not to be insulting, but you're calling 2020 a golden era?

Let's be real here, the only reason this was a boon for gaming (and other hobbies, I put 20K miles instead of the usual 9K on my bike that year), was because of outside causes keeping us unable to enjoy going out with people, so your fond idea of nostalgia is, let's say, 'misplaced'

Sorry but i have again a - maybe stupid - question becuase maybe i missed something or i totally missunderstood a for me pretty important information.
Since this problem got public the biggest worries for most of us was that RB stops working on their modules and they go "the way of the Hawk". BN and NL (and i appreciate their work - espacially here in this thread) stated already, that this will not happen - at least for Harrier, Mirage and MiG-19 as these modules are considered feature complete. So ... even if the outcome of the dispute is negative these 3 modules will stay in the game and will be functional as they are now - and if there are new bugs in the future they will be fixed. It would be nice if they were not just maintained but also improved, but maintained is fair enough. Now the biggest problem is the F-15E. That's the module which could in case of a negative outcome go the way of the Hawk, or the best way would be that the SE will stay in game in it's current state - which would be still enjoyable but also pretty frustrating.

In this thread are 12 pages full of discussions about the RB-ED story and there is the "Archive thread" with 184 pages. People are talking and discussing every single, annoying, legal aspect of the current situation. They compare it with own experiences from their jobs or previous occupations, with experiences they had with their local car dealer and other stuff.
196 pages in total and all of a sudden the COO of ED comes out with the information that we don't need to worry about the F-15 and .... nothing. Not a single reaction in this thread.
I mean "The F-15 will still be in its current state, but don't worry. It will see development one way ore the other, in time." as a statement from the COO of ED sounds to me like no matter what the outcome of the dispute is - either RB, another 3rd Party or ED itself will continue development of the F-15 (or maybe there is already a complete different solution). It sounds like all the RB modules are save. Like there is already a positive decision about the future of the RB modules (especially the SE) if the worst case comes true. It sounds like extraordinary good news but no one here seems to care.....

Now i'm asking myself: "What did i miss??" Or did just seriously missinterpret this statement? I was so happy to read this and i thought now this thread will explode within the next 24 hours but .... nothing.
And these are my 2 stupid questions: 1. Did i miss something? and 2. Did i get this statement completely wrong??

Please - could someone help me out here?

Where did you get the quote in bold please? - link?

If this is true and from ED directly I would agree - this is really good news and an important update which possibly should be added to the opening post!

You missed the "in time" or rather "it takes time", so it's a statement about some non-defined future, empty assurance phrase and no news at all. Good to know they think positively though.

Yes i already thought that this might be something i got a bit wrong. But the most important parts of the statement for me are "...but don't worry..." and "...this or the other way..."because the most important thing to know for me is if the SE has a future in DCS at all or not and this statement sounds to me like the answer is a clear YES. I don't care about the "when" i needed a positive answer on the "if" question 😉 - if you know what i mean. That's also why i asked a couple of comments before if she said maintenance ir development. For me this statement was a big surprise tbh.

This is the "don't worry and keep spending money on DCS" kind of "don't worry".

ED may restart F-15E development from scratch, in-house, 10 years from now, and that would still count as "SE has a future in DCS, one way or the other".

Might be. I prefer my way of interpreting this. And i also think the statement was not refered to the F-15 in general but to the Razbam F-15E.

If this is meant as a promise I'm sure something more official will follow soon. In the meantime perhaps NL or BN can clarify?

Which is the same as every other software producing company out there, it's called keeping your business interests going. Why should Eagle Dynamics be any different ?

They are not in business to cater to your personal qulams, they are in business to maintain /increase their profit margins, and I hate to say this, but their business model doesn't revolve around Razbam, sure, that situation doesn't help garner public opinion, but the most significant fact here is that Razbam needs Eagle Dynamics more than what Eagle Dynamics needs Razbam, irrespective of what we, the general public/consumers may personally feel about this.

Not every consumer owns all the RB products, and what's represented in these forums is a small percentage of the overall player database, a great deal have kept on purchasing and supporting Eagle Dynamics, there's also no other alternative out there that comes remotely close to what ED has achieved, and it will be years before its nearest competitor gets close to what ED offers.

Irrespective of what camp you sit, look back on the 1st newsletter of 2024, and their roadmap, as it seems they've (ED) pretty much delivered on everything they set out to achieve, and had this distateful episode between RB and ED not happened, 95% of the consumers would be more or less satisfied with 2024. They've achieved their business KPI's.

I am unhappy about the current situation as a long term Flight simmer, right back from the early Flanker days, but rather than a glass half empty kind of guy, I'm still flying the F15E on a regular basis, it still works at least on my end the same as it did on day 1, and the Harrier is still super fun to fly, I still get a lot of satisfaction out of sitting in that Mudhen cockpit in VR, looking around and feeling immersed, and yeah it's a pain to not have the updates that were on the the RB roadmap, but it's not stopped the fun.

Realistically, it is good news. However, as you discussed early, we've no view of the time frame and that should temper some expectations.

However, the reason we don't see hoorahs etc. is because we want outrage, I suppose. Nothing is more gratifying than internet outrage as you seek the approval of people you will never, ever, ever meet. Display your ignorance of contract law and treat everything like a witch hunt because that's how gamers tend to go about discourse.

So, yeah, it's pretty good news, overall. Not the news that F-15E fans want to hear, entirely, since they still don't know when things will kick back into gear.

I really like the F-15E and i was really happy to read such news. I was expecting the F-15E to disappear in the or in the best case to be stuck in the current state "for ever". Hearing that the SE will get further development (no matter when) makes me very happy because that is what i was not expecting anymore... Now it seems like the current state of the Strike Eagle is good enough to play with it until the development continues (when ever that might be).

Waiting for a legal settlement aren’t we? All of us. Both parties, you, me, anyone that’s bothered.

When it’s done we’ll know. Then there’ll be another thread about what everyone makes of it probably.

I don’t go for all the cryptic twaddle myself, when the case gets closed we’ll see.

thank you

The RAZBAM situation is the sole reason I stopped playing. The bizarre public way it came out, it not being the first time (except this time it’s many more products affected), the issues with products following it and the apparent ongoing nature eroding confidence in what remains particularly as 3rd party products are a huge part of DCS.

The assertion this is somehow a “personal issue” is either a poor choice of words or an attempt to be belittling…or have I misunderstood?

Considering ALL the Razbam modules are still as functional as they were when this situation went public, then it's 100% a personal choice..

"The Razbam situation is the sole reason I stopped playing" .... sounds like a personal choice to me
