I myself started back in the days of the 90's.

Still have all these boxes and CD's / DVD's in a box somewhere.

Blackshark was the first digital download for me.

Sorry to nitpick, but the DCS World branding began on 2008, after the release of DCS:Blackshark.

Actually, BS1 happened in 2009, A-10C in 2010, and DCS World (not called like that at first) started in 2011 when a patch made those two "modules", back then still independent games, compatible online between them.

Yes, day one here, but Flanker 2.5, Lock On, FC 1 and 2 where also around there.

According to this post, the DCS brand name was coined much earlier, on 2007:

I'm sure it was, I'm just telling what happened while I was watching 😂😂 . The inners of it are unknown to me. And probably the 2009 BS1, which I bought in a DVD, was released later in my country (~June 2009) than other places, which was still the usual back then (hard copies distribution and all). When it all started to be in the cloud and downloadable (2012 P-51 first actual module, only downloadable version available), it all started to be synchronized to us all, but until then it wasn't necessarily the case.

Yes you are right but you know what i mean. The products that gave birth to all of this 🙂

I remember i bought Blackshark online the russian version first. No idea because i cant read russian so had to figure it all out by just clicking menu items....

Then i bought it again when the english version came out. The good old days 🙂

Love that simplistic menu music.

I've been playing since DCS: Black Shark, which I got on a Steam sale in 2012, I believe. Then just got DCS World when I found out I could fly the KA-50 AND the A-10 in the same mission.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

Since launch day for the original Flanker. I've basically been flight simming since the mid 80's, though, so I've played pretty much everything at one point or other.

( what a long time and still not bored of playing )

How long have you been in the DCS world?

The general consensus about me seems to be that it has been too long.

I've been playing "this" "game" since Lock On.

Omg. I can actually taste the feel of going once again to the options menu to config a new binding to re learn the startup procedure. I haven't heard this song since DCS World actual debut. Potent memories there. Good times when we chosen the module of the sortie from the actual executable (A-10C or Black Shark) instead of in game. 😂

Since 2005 when FC1 was released for LOMAC, following a review of it in good old SimHQ (here) which provoqued enough curiosity to make me get it.

I still wish more detailed reviews were put in articles out there, like those guys used to do.
But, at that time, it ran so bad on my PC and, as I was much more into WW2 warbirds (and sim-racing), other sim titles took my attention.

It was only later when I picked FC2, then DCS BlackShark and DCS A-10C (the standalone titles, not the modules) that I really got into the "modern" groove of DCS.
