Turbonix Posted August 13, 2024 Posted August 13, 2024 quote german FW190 Wikipedia translated to english: "The A-8 variant enabled the Fw 190 for the first time to use the MW-50 system for a short-term increase in engine performance, which had already been planned in earlier variants but had not yet been successfully implemented. [32] For this purpose, the aircraft was equipped with a tank of 115 liters capacity behind the pilot's seat to receive the methanol-water mixture. This tank could alternatively be used as an internal additional tank for gasoline and made it necessary to move the radio equipment directly behind the pilot's seat. At the same time, the pilot's oxygen cylinders were moved to the rear and placed around the new tank. Access was via a round access hatch on the underside of the fuselage, immediately behind the wings, where the A-8 variant can be easily identified ... In addition to the performance-enhancing MW-50 system, the A-8 was equipped with increased emergency power as standard from July 1944. This made it possible to increase the boost pressure at ground level from 1.42 ata to 1.58 ata and at higher altitudes to 1.65 ata. Depending on the altitude, this measure led to an increase in the top speed of between 22 and 25 km/h, which, for example, increased the top speed of the Fw 190 A-8 from 548 km/h to 578 km/h near the ground and from 644 km/h to 652 km/h at an altitude of 6300 m. In contrast to the C-3 injection system, no additional fuel was required here. As with all systems for the engine's special and emergency power, its use was limited to ten minutes (although it could be used several times per use after the engine had cooled down) ... but lets just stick with the canopy glass bug for now.. When you search little bit around in the A8 Forum, will find pretty fast out Wiki is more then wrong in that case. MW50 is here Stubborn rumor that will never die... There never was a MW50 system in any Anton, the tested this pretty early with A4-5 come to conclusion it is not worth effort. Speed gain was only between 10 -15 kmh plus additional complexity and weight of the System, unrealibity with burned out Pistons and overall soot of tthe Engine. Then Anton was allready running "high" octan C3 Fuel contra to the 109 with the B4 Fuel with low Octan where the "Methanol" could significant increase the knock resistance of the Fuel und higher boost therefore much higher speed gains and power output. Spitfire and co. would be long time ago use this system aswell when it would so easy to gain power, but there was no need for them because there where also running high octane Fuel. Spitfire was also using a Intercooler for the supercharged air to cool it down, where was litterally no space in the 109 or 190 for an intercooler. Anton would utilize the C3 Injection from version A5 onwards as one of the methods to increase power. More or less the same comparable with P47 water injection. Will cool the induction air after supercharging and utilize higher boost setting with out pre detonating Air/Fuel Mixture. While they was undergoing these test's the forgot to install probably the C3 injection, afterwards the noticed this with no noticable bad side effects on the Engine and decided to go without C3 or MW50 in the Fighter Version of the Anton and only increase the boost on all A8 behind July of 1944 like Michal metioned before. C3 stayed with the "Jabo" fighters because decreased the thermal load and probably the wear on the engines. Yes cannopy flickering is annoying as hell... Turbonix Posted September 13, 2024 Posted September 13, 2024 it is really a shame.. unfortunately ED´s focus will not lay on older Modules anymore and we will wait for any bugs to be fixed in vain. They´re more interested in selling new shiny and hyped mods like the chinook, OH58, Halfganistan, and other as well unfinished stuff... 1 Planes: Bf109, FW190 A8/D9, F4-U Corsair, P51, P47, Spitfire, Mosquito, Mig15, F86, Mig21, F4, F5, F14, F16, F/A18, JF17, UH-1, AH-64, Mi-24, Ka50III Maps: Nevada, Normandy, The Channel, Persian Gulf, Syria, Germany Campaigns: many Hours in game: 3500+ AMD7800X3D RTX4090 64GB RAM Quest3 Win11

MoleUK Posted September 14, 2024 Posted September 14, 2024 (edited) See if this helps. Dump these in your saved games folder for DCS. slickdevel Posted October 7, 2024 Posted October 7, 2024 The flickering and reflections in the canopy are bad but don't forget the panels forward of the bow and how flying away from the sun causes a loss of vision as the panes turn to screens of milk. Can't even see the target at times. 1

Turbonix Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) What does it help if (not when) the flickering and milky canopy glass will eventually be fixed (in the Future t.m.), while spotting within the whole game is totally broken since last patch and also does get very little attention? Most VR users are going nuts because of this s**t. Including me. And ED has currently to deal with a s***load of negative comments. So don‘t overstrain them with bold requests to be looked after. The poor Anton is just double useless right now. Sad. I just won‘t bother with DCS anymore and will go back to Il2 again, where‘s no flickering, crystal clear spotting, MW50 for D9 ;), populated servers every day and much more content and quality of life stuff that DCS WWII does not support, nor is to be planned in the future. So long.
