What should have come is the digital altimeter, digital radio and the refueling probe. I would already be very happy.

I just pretend that my mission takes place on 1976 and I’m on a chilean F-5E with analog everything and a fuel meter to help me manage my fuel consumption. And I’m happy flying old school, for a more modern aircraft I fly the Viper instead and set the mission date to 2006 or later. It serves to appreciate the progress aviation made on 30 years.

I have to agree, I believe that ED is shooting themselves in the foot with this one.

I'm no skinner, but I would have loved to edit a few training missions for this bird, but having the ModelViewer unable to open the cockpit shape file, and thus unable to learn which cockpit argument does what, killed all my interest on devoting time to this new F-5 .. I'd rather dedicate the time to an older Module, like the MiG-21  🙄

Agree 100%.  ED continues to crowd out modders by locking everything down. The free modders are an invaluable asset to making this community vibrant and interesting. ED seems to have zero interest in working with the external community or of fostering them as a resource that can accomplish so much for ED.

I had no problem getting this remaster but I honestly expected a bit more from this update at the cockpit level: I wasn't thinking about more modern systems but about an improvement, even if it was "cosmetic", of the radar (I think that many of us agree on that point here), the backlighting of the RWR panel still has two positions (despite having a potentiometer), etc...

The end of the community liveries has somewhat disappointing. I have over 50 missions related to the Iran-Iraq War (the first Gulf War) that now appear quite odd, and I could continue to enumerate other missions and campaigns that lack the appropriate liveries

Maybe I expected something more along the lines of the A10 and K50 updates that seemed magnificent to me.

On liveries:

New liveries along with a new and more detailed texture template:
Standard neutral grey
Swiss Air Force, 2 tone grey
Austrian Air Force 2, Staffel
Norwegian Air Force 338 sqn 215
“MiG-28” Topgun black
Aggressor Navy blue camouflage VFC-13
Aggressor desert camouflage VFC-13

New liveries coming soon:
Vietnam 1970s
Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force
Imperial Iranian Air Force
Swiss Air Force demo team
Aggressor forest camouflage

The texture template for users to create their own should be available soon, and should be no later than the Christmas update.

As far as radar and sounds, we never stated these would change, but rather the 3D model of the interior, exterior and pilot and included textures were what the remaster was about. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification. It’s a great model.

Not to be “that guy” but my old F-5 VFC buddies would be the first to say that they aren’t ‘aggressor pilots’ they are ‘adversary pilots.’ Air Force versus Navy semantic difference I know.  But they get touchy about it lol

That’s because they are adversaries. The Air Force using “Aggressor” is newspeak BS that frames the AF as always the defending “good guy” not an equally culpable combatant.

Happ’s stupid cult.

How cool would it be if we had received this cockpit.

Question:
Did the F-5 receive FM-updates or not?

I didn't use the old Tiger II much since it was very dated indeed and there are simply so many other options to invest my time in. However, due to the update I spent a more relevant amount of time in it to explore the Iraq-map and I quite enjoyed how she felt in the air.
I didn't remember the FM to be so "lively".

The visual update isn't benchmark by any stretch but definitely a big improvement over the old! I'm sure I will use it more often now.

How long has it been since you've flown it, and in what configuration? It's quite nimble and responsive clean, especially at 400+ knots, but is easily burdened by stores due to its light weight. To my knowledge there hasn't been any flight model change, in the last few years at least. As far as I know, it's fairly accurate, except for a couple reported issues regarding wingtip stores and AOA capabilities.

Well for the map exploration, we flew in a clean config, so that could be part of the "nice" feel. It really has been a minute......

Don’t say Eisenhower didn’t warn us. Happ and Chennault were running a whole racket leading up to the secession of the Air Corps from the Army. Someone could do a whole big real crime podcast series on it.

Is it possible to get a refund on the remastered version? I'd like to go back to previous version and fly with old liveries.

I don't think you're going to get any meaningful information from forum dwellers. I'd suggest simply contacting ED Support.

I'm really glad to see ED did the right thing and added proper high energy vortices for LERX. Also featured:

parking kit
service access covers for the cannon bay
pilot helmet visor up/down !

Much more from this guy but all lands in his 'Live' tab.

Hello and happy holidays!

I'm a beginner in DCS and I love these great videos!

Thanks for the videos and also for all the interesting additional details.

Can I also ask something very simple? On which map is the F-5e in this official YouTube video "F-5E REMASTERED | OUT NOW"

this one:

and on which airfield is the takeoff, the blue hangar?
