Also RAF bases in Germany like Laarbruch, Wildenrath, Brüggen and Gütersloh. Since the Navy dudettes want some water to fly their missions from the boat, we will need the North Sea and the Baltic Sea in the simulated area, so the airbases we really want are: Wittmund, Jever, Oldenburg, Nordholz, Husum, Leck, Schleswig, Eggebek, Kiel, Laage, Ribnitz-Damgarten, Parow, Peenemünde... just to name a few. ... and Ahlhorn (along with the A28 highway strip), Diepholz, Wunstorf, Hopsten... and I forgot the German Army airbases, so Bueckeburg, Itzehoe and Rheine-Bentlage as well of course Edited February 7 by Volator 3 1 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven

Absolutely agreed. It would also include the North German Plain which was identified as a significant probable axis of advance in the event of the Cold War going hot (and includes ports as relevant targets), not to mention airbases in the North (such as Damgarten (773 IAP - we already have a MiG-21bis and a 9.12 MiG-29) and Wittmundhafen (JG 71 - we've got JG 71 liveries for the F-4E, we're getting an F-104G of some description)). EDIT: The current La Combattante IIa is depicted as a late FRG Type 148 Tiger, so depending on how much water we get, that vessel would be right at home (if only it could get MM38 Exocet Block 1). It may also enable carrier-based aviation and anti-shipping missions in general and we are getting a Luftwaffe Tornado with Kormoran (so right at home), not sure about Aerges F-104G, though it would be nice to depict Marineflieger units. True, the median depth is 11 meters or so, while Lillebælt (where the stream of water pass from the Baltic to Kattegatt), and Storebælt, (where ships actually sail), have respectively 75m and 60m. More than adequate. The problem is the bridges. Sailing height (?), "seilingshøyde" is 57m for Øresund, 33 for Lillebælt and 65m for Storebælt. "Bridges too Low" in other words. Northstar98 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) Just reading the newsletter and I'm delighted with the scope of the map: But please, please, please include empty air defence sites (this being a near perfect example) - even if its only a generic site for each type that's copies and pasted in locations where appropriate. The Syria map had some attempt at this, but only did so with an SA-2 and even then, apart from the revetment models, it wasn't that accurate (and some sites weren't accurately placed). rcjonessnp175 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 map looks like a dream come true, in my opinion dcs should focus on cold war era, but will say a ww2 version of this map would be epic as well. Bremspropeller Posted March 14 Posted March 14 (edited) Looks like AdlA bases... - Colmar - Strasbourg - Metz - possibly Nancy-Ochey ...will be in phase 3. FATac galore! Grostenquin (RCAF) and Marville will most certainly be in Phase 3, which is majorly nice for the upcoming F-104, as all the RCAF bases in Europe will be on the map. Tomcatter87 Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) It's a bummer to see the map will end just some kilometers north of my hometown. That being said, I'm blown away with how big this map is going to be, and that even water will be included. Much more that I was hoping for. This is gonna be awesome! Please do not forget some important German F-4F Phantom bases - we're talking about the 80s here, so the "Luftverteidigungsdiesel" is pretty important. So far, the only one we'll get at release is Pferdsfeld. Laage is included, but being located in the GDR, it hosted Phantoms from the late 1990s on, some years after the re-unification. Bremgarten is too far south, Leck sadly seems just a tad too far north to be included. Wittmundhafen is outside of the first zone, but should hopefully be introduced in the first update. Neuburg is too far south again, Hopsten might come in phase 3. Pferdsfeld and Laage (for later scenarios) will be included in the first phase (yeah!) and Manching is too far south and not too important for our needs, not hosting an active squadron. Bremspropeller Posted March 15 Posted March 15 (edited) Bremgarten should be within Phase 3. Same with Colmar - literally just a stone's throw to the west, across the Rhine. The river's kink along the D52 road is the first prominent kink on the map, travelling south-to north. Colmar airbase is just between Meyenheim and Hirtzfelden. Hard to see on the maps screenshot, but I wanted to show both airfields and the prominet kink onthe river. The phase 3 boundary runs just to the north of Basel-Mulhouse airport (sorry, Switzerland, you're left ou of the party), which is a bit special, since it's on french turf but has a swiss terminal. Edit 2: I just took a quick and dirty screenshot showing the roundabout map boundary in phase 3 and the location of both, Bremgarten and Colmar. Wittmund, Jever and Hopsten look like they'll be added in Phase 3. By the looks of it, Bremgarten will have a more detailed pattern than Wittmund, though. That's not a loss, however. Only cows, sheep and gibberish speaking people up there... Edited March 15 by Bremspropeller 4 So ein Feuerball, JUNGE!
