  1. 1. How do you play the most?

    • Training (Built in Training Missions/ Practicing)
    • Single Player(Built in Campaign/Downloaded Missions)
    • Private Co-op (Private game with friends online or lan)
    • Multiplayer (Public Game Servers/events)

Simple question. Which do you prefer to play and put more hours into and why?

This and future posts/polls are intended to stir discussions of gameplay and what players "want" out of this flight sim and community. I'll be separating these threads for organizational and topical purposes, so please keep it on topic. Information from these threads will be used specifically for a "social gaming experiment" that is currently being developed for use with Lockon and Black Shark. Besides, this info could be helpful to Eagle Dynamics in making future products too! ^_^

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

I am pretty evenly split between the first three. I do a lot of training and simple practice, since just flying is always fun on it's own and I often end up deciding that I need a refresher on this or that system. Then there's a lot of times where I fire it up while having an hour free to fly a mission, and lastly playing co-op with good people. I don't fly "generally online" all that much, for various reasons, mainly that the "quality" of the server is so unpredictable. I often end up feeling frustrated with the difficulty of getting the other people on the server to get on TS for comms - even when it's a squad server and it's people from that squad that are refusing to use voice. :P

Note on the training selection though - part of the fun there is to just place my helicopter somewhere on the map where I haven't spent much time and explore the surroundings, perhaps even find a nice "racetrack" like a particularly good stretch of rail that can be used for suicidal flying. :D

Oh, clearly #4 - the others are barely being performed on my own behalf.

I want to be more of #3 and #4 but real life keeps getting in my way with the result of me spending 15-45min in #1 and #2 instead...

There are two types of fighter pilots - those who have, and those who will execute a magnificent break turn towards a bug on the canopy . . . .

Online only for me as well, apart from the occasional practice session or mission testing online is the only way to fly.

I much prefer flying with a small group with comms doing realistic mission profiles but I also fly on public servers as sometimes it's the only viable option in this sim.

I normally fly single player using the built in missions. I also spend a lot of time training on certain systems on the aircraft and the aircraft flight characteristics in general, I build simple missions emphasizing or re-enforcing that particular training need. I have also start to really explore the challanges of building complex and detail missions with the ME. But simetime it's just relaxing just to fly.

I prefer to play private co-op, and use single player missions to beef up skillz/procedures. My public/open multiplayer experience with Black Shark has been tainted by team-killing jerks. You know who you are...

4th option. I play 95% of time online but many times under other nickname to not make a fun of myself :D

Flight rules and formation flying still baffle me. I'd hate to fly into someone.

Sarge, that's quite allright - we've all been there sometime. Hook up with someone and spend a while practicing formations and terminology for radio and you'll be good. The online servers are a pretty friendly place and people tend to be helpful if you have questions - but obviously it's always easier to get a tutor for the day. :)

80% multi player and 20% campaign. Awaiting the merger soon.

There are 2 categories of fighter pilots: those who have performed, and those who someday will perform, a magnificent defensive break turn toward a bug on the canopy. Robert Shaw
